Punter pockets £15,000 windfall from ‘the kind of bet every racing bettor dreams of'
A bettor has pocketed more than £15,000 from 'the kind of bet every racing punter dreams of'. The William Hill customer picked out four horses to put in a four-fold accumulator from the race meetings on Thursday at Leicester and Chepstow. A total of £20 was staked on the £10 each way bet.
The first selection, Honrado, scored at Leicester at odds of 11-2 despite a late jockey change which saw the injured Hollie Doyle replaced by 7lb claimer Matthew Lloyd Salter.
The Charlie Wallis-trained Due Date made all the running in the next at 8-1 under jockey Rob Hornby.
Then Cape Flora completed a Leicester hat-trick for the punter with a comfortable success under Rob Havlin for the John & Thady Gosden stable. Backed at 4-1 she won by six lengths.
Everything rested on the final leg of the bet, the John & Rhys Flint-trained Spirit Of The Bay. The mare flashed her tail when hitting the front under Luke Morris but managed to hold on to score by a dwindling neck margin.
Backed at odds of 3-1 she put the seal on a winning acca which netted the punter the handsome sum of £15,413, with Hill's Best Odds Guaranteed adding £3,539 to the total winnings.
William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: 'This is the kind of bet every racing punter dreams of – it's a fantastic return from a relatively small stakes each-way bet and they've walked away with over £15,000.
'Not only have they managed to land a four-fold acca, but with Best Odds Guaranteed their winnings were boosted by over £3,500. We have got to give credit to this winning punter – they clearly know how to pick a winner or two.'

If you already have a William Hill account, check out more free bets from the UK's best betting sites, reviewed by our experts 7.45 Chelmsford – Class 4 Handicap (1m; Racing TV) DIXIELAND BLUES won a useful novice contest over this trip on the all-weather at Southwell in April. This Simon and Ed Crisford-trained runner was unplaced under those same conditions on his most recent start, but that wasn't a bad run in a decent handicap and he shaped as though he may just have needed the outing, his first since being gelded. The selection is a half-brother to the same stable's Group 2 winner Jadoomi and still has some potential. 8.45 Chelmsford – Class 6 handicap (1m 2f; Racing TV) NIGHT TARA hasn't shown much in three starts at 7f and 1m, but she should be suited by this step up in trip and has been found a really weak race off a lowly mark for her handicap debut. Sir Mark Prescott's runner is a half-sister to Scarlett O'Hara, who won a 1m 4f maiden and has been placed over 1m 6f in Group 3 company.
