MTV Video Music Awards to Air on CBS for the First Time in 2025

Yahoo04-04-2025

The MTV Video Music Awards, long seen on MTV and its sister cable outlets without a live broadcast component, will air on CBS for the first time in 2025, the network announced Thursday.
The show will air on CBS — and be 'simulcast' on MTV, as the announcement puts it — from the UBS Arena on Sept. 7 at 8-11 p.m. ET/5-8 p.m. PT, live across time zones. The special will also be available for live viewing on Paramount+.

The shift is in line with other moves made by the networks recently, like the CMT Music Awards going out live for the first time on CBS in 2024 instead of CMT itself (although that special went on hiatus this year).
A one-hour pre-show will air live across Paramount Media Networks, as well.
But per CBS' announcement, MTV will be the only one of the Paramount networks to carry the live broadcast alongside CBS. That focus on those two networks stands in contrast to last year, when the main telecast was broadcast across 13 networks, including Comedy Central, CMT, VH1, BET and Univision, among others.
WIth last year's VMAs, which aired across all those networks but not CBS, the show delivered its biggest multi-network audience in four years and was 'the most social VMAs in show history,' according to the network, with 66.7 million social interactions measured.
The 2024 VMAs nabbed approximately 4.08 million viewers with the original telecast and two encore airings. That was up roughly 8% compared to the 2023 show, which pulled in 3.78 million viewers.
WIth the show still being five months out from its air date, no other details, such as nominations, hosts or performers, have yet been announced, beyond the return to UBS Arena.
The 2025 show is being executive-produced by Bruce Gillmer and Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic. Barb Bialkowski is the co-executive producer, with Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba set as executives in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is the executive in charge of celebrity talent, and Lisa Lauricella the executive in charge of music talent.

Baby Cheetah Named Taylor Swift Meets Her Love Match in Another Orphaned Cub Named Travis Kelce

A cheetah cub named Taylor Swift has made a new friend — a cub named Travis Kelce The two cubs met at the Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre in Somaliland "Not only is [cub Taylor Swift] thriving, it looks like we have a little Love Story unfolding on the savannah," the center's staff said in a statementCheetah cub Taylor Swift was named for the music superstar after the baby animal was rescued from the illegal wildlife pet trade. Now, she's made a friend with a familiar name! In April, the Cheetah Conservation Fund saved the orphaned cub and moved her to its Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre in Somaliland. Taylor Swift, who only weighed three pounds when she arrived, adapted well to the safe, new home. Now, things have gotten even cozier at Taylor's new abode. The Cheetah Rescue and Conservation Centre recently welcomed four new cubs, all siblings. Fellow orphans from the illegal wildlife trade, the new cubs on the block were introduced to Taylor Swift shortly after they settled in. Taylor made fast friends with the cubs, including forming an especially close bond with one of the males of the inseparable group. Once the cheetah center noticed the bond between Taylor and the 5-month-old newcomer, it decided to name the male cheetah cub Travis Kelce. According to the center, Travis Kelce, the cheetah, is "playful, confident, and has a winning streak," like his namesake. "Not only is [cub Taylor Swift] thriving, it looks like we have a little Love Story unfolding on the savannah," the centre's staff said in a statement, adding, "The two have become nearly inseparable—grooming each other, napping side by side, and occasionally partaking in friendly roughhousing." The male cub's "rookie stats," per the statement, include a sitting height of about 50 cm, a length of about 90 cm, and the special skills of "climbing trees, running fast [and] scarfing down snacks." Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce Will Spend a ‘Different' NFL Season This Time, Claims ‘Source'

Now that Taylor Swift's 'Eras' tour is officially over, she will reportedly attend an NFL season with Travis Kelce without worrying about exhaustive commitments. One of the most discussed couples in the industry, Swift and Kelce are reportedly ready to bring a blend of pop culture and sports to the stadium. According to a source, the upcoming season will pave the way for their romance to be unencumbered by busy schedules. After concluding the 'Eras' tour, Taylor Swift is reportedly gearing up for the next NFL season with Travis Kelce. Since the beginning of the couple's romance in 2023, the upcoming NFL season will be the first one where Swift will not keep busy with the tour commitments. According to PEOPLE's insider, for this reason, Swift is particularly excited for Kelce's upcoming season. The insider suggested the season's uniqueness, saying, 'This fall will be completely different. It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' Swift was busy with her record-breaking 'Eras' tour till her last stop at Vancouver in December. Meanwhile, her boyfriend was navigating his football career. Hence, the past two seasons tested the couple's endurance and patience. The source noted, 'The past two seasons were a whirlwind between performing across multiple countries, long flights, and trying to squeeze in alone time together wherever possible.' They added, 'It wasn't easy but they made it work.' The source further claimed Swift planned to attend as many of Kelce's games as possible. 'Her schedule is much more open now that the Eras Tour is wrapped, and she's genuinely excited to have the time and flexibility to show up for Travis more consistently,' reported the insider. While rumors about their split and their marriage swirl around, all eyes will be on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce this NFL season.
