Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham seemingly reconcile in cryptic posts

USA Today14 hours ago
Don't look now, but a long-ended relationship could be on the path to mending. Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the wildly popular American-British band Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s, helping them reach the top of the Billboard Top 200 with Rumors in 1977. Fleetwood Mac's Rumors album went on to win the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1978, but Nicks and Buckingham -- who had been dating -- split up during the making of the album.
It was an ugly breakup, with Buckingham even accusing Nicks of being the reason he was kicked out of Fleetwood Mac in 2018. The pair allegedly hadn't spoken since 2019.
But Thursday, it seemed like a reconciliation might be on the horizon. Nicks and Buckingham took to their personal Instagram accounts, each posting one line from their 1975 song "Frozen Love" from the debut album of their duo, Buckingham Nicks.
"And if you go forward..." Nicks posted in what looked like her own handwriting. "I'll meet you there," Buckingham responded. Both were posted within an hour of each other, and immediately fans started spiraling at the potential implications. Were they just rekindling a long lost friendship? Announcing a reunion tour?
So do the posts hint at a future collaboration? It's currently unclear, but at the very least, it seems the former couple has mended some bridges.

Is a Fleetwood Mac Reunion in the Works? What Lindsey Buckingham Said

Fleetwood Mac fans, we have some interesting news! In a recent social media post, Lindsey Buckingham's landscaper revealed that both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham might be interested in doing a reunion tour. Now, almost two months later, the iconic musicians fueled the reunion speculation by sharing matching cryptic social media posts. This all comes after Buckingham's claims that Nicks kicked him out of the band back in 2021. Below, we look at what exactly was said in that now-viral social media post, and why Buckingham felt like his ex-girlfriend wanted him gone in the first place. Read on for more. What to know about a potential Fleetwood Mac reunion On May 12, Michael Gambino—a landscaper who works with Buckingham—took to Facebook to share that 'Lindsey Buckingham, lead singer/guitar player extraordinaire (solo and Fleetwood Mac), longtime client of Gambino Landscape Lighting (two homes) stopped by our job today and we spoke for about 1/2 hour.' 'He's got a new album coming out in the spring of next year, along with a documentary about Fleetwood Mac. I asked if there was a possibility that they would ever perform together again, and he said that all depends upon Stevie (who is also a client of ours).' Gambino also posted a picture of himself with Buckingham in addition to providing his page followers with exciting details. Naturally, the internet went crazy, commenting things like, 'What an awesome day at work! I'm so very happy for you,' and, 'Super cool! What an honor,' on the post. What they didn't comment on, though, was the reunion rumors. This could be because Buckingham never officially confirmed them or because the guitarist said it was all up to Nicks, with whom he has famously had public fights with since the 1970s. As for the documentary in question, it's likely the Frank Marshall AppleTV+ project, announced in November 2024. 'I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about,' Marshall said in the official announcement. 'Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real-time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.' The announcement also said that the documentary would follow 'Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks [as they] reflect on their uncompromising 50-plus-year history, from their record-breaking recordings and tours—including never-before-seen footage, exclusive new interviews, and archival interviews of the late Christine McVie—through to today.' As of publication, the documentary doesn't have a name or a release date. Following that, on July 17 both Nicks and Buckingham posted lyrics from their 1973 song "Frozen Love," off their first album Buckingham Nicks, on Instagram. Nicks wrote 'if you go forward...' and then about an hour later Buckingham wrote '...Ill meet you there,' in the exact same style font, causing the internet to wonder if they were hinting at a reunion, an album rerelease or both—none of which have been formally announced. A look at Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks's current relationship status Ever since they met in the 1960s, Buckingham and Nicks's relationship has been rocky, filled with albums, drugs, breakups, makeups, viral performances of 'Landslide' and more. The two are currently separated—and have been since 1976—but that hasn't stopped them from commenting on their position. In fact, back in 2021, Buckingham claimed that Nicks kicked him out of Fleetwood Mac for good. 'It was all Stevie's doing,' the guitarist claimed to People. 'Stevie basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go. It would be like [Mick] Jagger saying, 'Well, either Keith [Richards] has to go, or I'm going to go.'' Shortly after that, Nicks released a statement clarifying her side of the story. 'I did not demand he be fired,' the singer said. 'Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.' That was the last time either party had commented on one another until that Facebook post made by Gambino earlier this month. For more Fleetwood Mac content, keep scrolling! Massive Attack, Brian Eno among UK and Irish musicians banding together to speak out on Israel's war in Gaza

A group of musicians from the United Kingdom and Ireland say they have formed a syndicate to advocate for artists speaking out against Israel's war in Gaza and the role of foreign governments in funding it. 'Because of our expressions of conscience, we've been subject to various intimidations from within our industry' and 'legally via organised bodies such as UK Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI),' read a social media post by the band Massive Attack, a version of which has been shared by Kneecap and Fontaines D.C., as well as musician and producer Brian Eno. The musicians said they are aware of 'aggressive, vexatious campaigns operated by UKLFI and of multiple individual incidences of intimidation within the music industry itself' designed to censor and silence artists. CNN has reached out to UKLFI for comment. The posts come after Northern Irish rappers Kneecap and the British rap-punk duo Bob Vylan drew criticism for their pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel rhetoric. Both are facing police investigations for their performances at Glastonbury music festival, following reports by UKLFI. UKLFI said it reported a singer in Bob Vylan to the police for chanting 'Death to the IDF' during their Glastonbury set, referring to the Israeli military. It also reported UK public broadcaster the BBC for showing the set. The BBC later called Bob Vylan's performance 'antisemitic' and said it should not have been broadcast. A member of Kneecap, which has been a vocal critic of Israel and the war in Gaza, was charged with a terrorism offense last month for allegedly displaying a flag 'in support of Hezbollah,' according to London police, following a report by UKLFI. UK counterterrorism police said they were investigating the group after videos emerged allegedly showing the band calling for British politicians to be killed and shouting 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah,' in apparent support for the militant groups from Gaza and Lebanon, respectively, both enemies of Israel. Kneecap has previously said it has never supported Hamas or Hezbollah and that the footage circulating online has been 'deliberately taken out of all context' as part of a 'smear campaign' following their criticism of Israel and the United States over the former's 20-month war in Gaza. Both Bob Vylan and Kneecap have faced widespread gig cancellations. UKLFI said it had written to the UK venues where Kneecap was due to perform this summer and warned them 'of the risks of allowing them to perform.' The US State Department banned Bob Vylan from performing in the US. In their joint social media posts, the musicians in the newly-formed alliance encouraged other artists who wish to speak up but are afraid of repercussions to contact them. 'The scenes in Gaza have moved beyond description,' said the post announcing the formation of the syndicate, which calls for a ceasefire; the 'immediate, unfettered access' of aid to Gaza; the end of UK arms sales to Israel; and other measures. 'Having withstood these campaigns of attempted censorship, we won't stand by and allow other artists – particularly those at earlier stages of their careers or in other positions of professional vulnerability – to be threatened into silence or career cancellation.' The English singer Paloma Faith lent her support on the post shared by Kneecap. 'Keep going everyone it's going to eventually change! Hang in there,' she wrote in a comment via her verified account on Instagram.
