India: 3 arrested for smuggling marijuana worth over Rs60 million at New Delhi airport
The incident took place in the early hours of August 7, when officers, following targetted checks, intercepted the passengers at the green channel of Terminal 3. Two of them had arrived from Bangkok on Air India flight AI2303, while the third suspect flew in on Thai Airways flight TG331 — both landing on August 6.
During baggage screening, officers discovered 12 polythene pouches hidden inside trolley bags. The green-coloured substance inside, weighing 6.03kg (6,032.5 grams) in total, tested positive for marijuana during a preliminary diagnostic check. Officials estimate the value of the seized narcotics at around Rs60,300,000 (Dh2.52 million).
The passengers were taken into custody under various provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and the contraband, along with the concealment materials, was confiscated. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the case.
Just last month, authorities in Bengaluru, the tech capital of India, seized more than 4kg of cocaine, valued at around Rs400 million (Dh17.05 million) concealed inside superhero comics and magazines carried by an Indian passenger travelling from Doha to Bengaluru.
Indian national travelling from Doha to Mumbai was also arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs hidden in boxes of Oreo biscuits. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai, seized cocaine worth Dh26.7 million from a woman at the Mumbai International Airport, reports in the Indian media said.
Only July 11, Khaleej Times reported that a key suspect in a major Indian narcotics case has been extradited from the UAE to India, Indian authorities confirmed.
Kubbawala Mustafa, wanted by Mumbai Police for his alleged involvement in operating a synthetic drug manufacturing facility, was extradited to India through coordinated efforts between India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Interpol, and the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Abu Dhabi.

Kuwait authorities bust criminal network manufacturing methanol which killed several Asians
Kuwaiti authorities arrested those involved in a criminal network which manufactured and distributed the toxic substance methanol, which recently caused the deaths of a number of people from the Asian community. Sharjah businessman kidnapping: Former employee among 6 arrested in Kerala
After a UAE-based businessman was kidnapped in the Indian state of Kerala, a former employee has been held in connection to the crime, according to Malayalam media reports. It also stated that Kerala police said that the man was dismissed from service, which fueled rage and personal enmity. The man is also thought to have previously issued threats against his former employer. It was on Tuesday that the entrepreneur, who owns a Sharjah-based chain of pharmacies, was abducted by a group of people while on a short vacation to his hometown of Malappuram in Kerala. Two days later, police were able to rescue him from Kollam, more than 300km away from the place he was taken from. Other media reports suggest that police suspect more people may be involved in the crimes. Two of those who were apprehended have previous charges against them, including an attempt to murder. The police are continuing investigation to recover all the vehicles and arrest everyone involved. The former employee was part of a group of six who are now in custody in relation to the crime. He was believed to be involved in several of the abductee's business ventures and police are now investigating whether any financial motives were behind the kidnapping. Soon after the businessman was taken, a Whatsapp call was made to his business partner, demanding a ransom of over Dh500,000. A similar call was also made to the man's wife, instructing her to drop the complaint that she filed with police. The man's wife, who was in the UAE at the time of the incident, flew to India immediately. An enquiry by the local police centred around the vehicles that was used to transport the abductee. In a statement to Khaleej Times, a company representative had said the rescue operation was carried out 'promptly and efficiently' and that the perpetrators were in police custody.

Kuwait says 23 people dead from alcohol poisoning
Kuwait says 23 people have been killed by contaminated alcohol in the past week, with dozens more in intensive care. The Kuwaiti health ministry said 160 people had come down with methanol poisoning since Saturday. Most were Asians. Most needed urgent treatment involving mechanical breathing and kidney dialysis. Methanol is an industrial substance not meant for human consumption, but sometimes finds its way into home-made or counterfeit drinks. "The Ministry of Health warns and urges the public to avoid such behaviour to preserve lives," it said. It said there was a "continuous medical and security follow-up around the clock". An earlier ministry report on Wednesday said 21 people had suffered blindness or visual impairment due to the poisoning. India 's embassy in Kuwait said on Wednesday that about 40 Indians had been taken to hospital in recent days, some of whom had died. It did not give the reason for their sickness. The embassy said it was "following up with concerned hospitals" and the health ministry to ensure "proper treatment of Indian patients". Nine people died in Jordan in a case of mass alcohol poisoning in June, in which 47 people needed treatment. The case was referred to a criminal court.
