Glasgow man, 22, found dead in Australia's Gold Coast
The body of a Glasgow man has been found by police after he went missing in Australia's Gold Coast.Lewis Jack, 22, was reported missing from Surfer's Paradise, a seaside resort in Queensland, on Saturday.Queensland Police confirmed that a body was found in the water near the Isle of Capri at about 07:40 on Tuesday. The force added that investigations are ongoing into the death, which is thought to be "non-suspicious".
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said: "Police will prepare a report for the coroner in relation to the death of a 22-year-old man at Surfers Paradise on Tuesday."While conducting patrols for the missing man, officers from the Gold Coast Water Police located the man deceased in the water near the Isle of Capri around 07:40."The force had earlier issued a missing persons report.Posts on social media suggest Mr Jack had been based in Australia since 2022 and had spent time travelling around south-east Asia.On Facebook, his mother Sharon Smith said: "Lewis has been found. My heart is hurting, he is no longer with us, his brothers and I are broken."A Just Giving page has been set up to help with repatriating his body.Organiser Toni-Lee Donnelly said: "Lewis was one of the kindest souls – his smile could light up any room, and his warmth and humour touched everyone he met."He is deeply loved and will be missed beyond words by all who knew him."In a statement, the Foreign Office said it was supporting the family of a British man who has died in Australia.

This is the heartbreaking moment a missing pensioner is seen using his cane to walk along the street as police plea to the public for help. Footage shows Malcolm, 89, was last seen on Wednesday walking along Westfield Close in the area of Hull Road in Easington between 8am – 9.30am on the day of his disappearance. The frail man vanished days ago and police are 'growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.' Officers have trawled the area knocking on the doors of locals, diving through hours of CCTV and even used scent dogs - but have been unsuccessful in their search for Malcolm. The force have urged the public to check their gardens, sheds, outbuildings and any covered areas as they believe the pensioner could be found sheltering there. They are also keen to speak to pedestrians and drivers travelling along Hull Road around the time Malcolm was last seen and have said motorists shoul check their dash cam footage. Leading the she search, Inspector Will Knapp at Humberside police said: 'We have been trawling hours of CCTV and doorbell footage, conducting house to house enquiries and area searches of rural locations to try and understand which direction Malcolm may have travelled in since leaving his home. 'As part of those enquiries, the CCTV footage shows Malcolm walking along Westfield Close at approximately 8.10am that morning (Wednesday, 4 June). 'Malcolm is then thought to have walked towards the junction of Hull Road before heading west at approximately 8.15am. This is the last confirmed sighting of him. 'He is described as being approximately 5ft 8ins tall with grey hair and is thought to be wearing a grey gilet with brown trousers and carrying a walking stick. 'From this point, with support from specialist trained search officers, scent dogs and the Underwater Search unit, alongside partnering agencies and Malcolm's family and friends, teams have been extending their searches we continue to conduct further lines of enquiries to understand Malcom's movements and try and trace his next steps. 'As part of this, we are keen to speak to pedestrians and motorists travelling along Hull Road between 8am and 9.30am around the time Malcolm was last seen. I'd also encourage anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage around this time to please get in touch. 'We would also urge members of the public to check sheds, outbuildings and any covered areas, if your neighbours are away, please check their gardens too.' He added: 'Anybody who has any information, no matter how small, dashcam or CCTV footage, or who may know where Malcolm may be and can assist us with locating him to please contact us our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 177of 4 June.'

Jolena Tilley, 44, was last spotted at the Jolly Caulkers pub on Batchelor Street in Chatham, Kent, at around 9pm on Wednesday. Cops are now "concerned for her welfare" and have launched a desperate appeal to try and find the missing woman. In a statement today, police said Jolena was last seen wearing a black top with blue jeans and black sandals - and she was carrying a black bag. Harrowing new details revealed in autopsy report after grandma accused of murdering two grandsons in their rural home
TWO children found dead in their rural home were allegedly drugged before being smothered, an autopsy has revealed. Aussie brothers Max, 6, and Sam Johnson, 7, were found dead on May 5 - with their grandma arrested at the scene. 2 2 A post-mortem examination has found traces of prescription drugs in the boys' systems, according to the Daily Telegraph. Police allege their grandma, Kathleen Heggs, 66, gave her grandsons the medications before suffocating them with a pillow. Heggs allegedly sent a text to authorities saying the two boys were dead and that she planned to take her own life. When cops arrived at the scene, they found the boys dead in separate rooms and Heggs with self-inflicted injuries. She was arrested and taken to the mental health unit at Orange Hospital before being transferred into custody. On May 21, Heggs was charged with two counts of domestic violence murder. The siblings were reportedly sleeping when the alleged murders occurred. Heggs, the sole carer for the boys, moved with them over a year ago to a home on the outskirts of Coonabarabran in rural New South Wales. According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the move was prompted after the woman "witnessed an incident involving her family too graphic to publish details of, and became known to police as a victim of crime". The boys' dad told the Daily Telegraph that he and his partner had trusted Heggs to care for the children, as they were both struggling with mental health issues. The couple had not seen the children for five years before their deaths. "This is not how we were meant to get them back," he said. "We are completely broken... but those boys deserve a good send off, and that's what we are going to give them." The boys will be buried wearing their karate uniforms, each with a yellow belt they were due to earn the same week their lives were tragically cut short. A family friend, who has a son the same age as the boys, said he would see them at karate lessons, football matches and school. He said there were no clear signs the family was struggling, describing Heggs as a "beautiful lady" and the boys as "cute little kids, full of energy". He said locals have been really hard-hit by the news. "This is a tragedy, and it's affecting so many. Petty crime happens and that, but it's a very safe community, we don't have problems like the cities." It comes as investigators found human remains on Friday in the search for Aussie teen Pheobe Bishop, who vanished three weeks ago. Pheobe's two housemates James Wood and Tanika Bromley were charged with murder on Thursday, along with two counts of interfering with a corpse.
