Scored a Perfect 500/500! CBSE Topper AIR 1 Aarav Malhotra Reveals His Study Hacks and Booklist!
New Delhi [India], June 13: In a year when lakhs of students appeared for the CBSE Class 10 examinations, Aarav Malhotra has emerged as one of the shining stars, scoring a perfect 500 out of 500. The Noida-based student's incredible feat has made his family and school proud and inspired thousands of aspiring students across the country.
In an exclusive conversation, Aarav opened up about his preparation strategy, the challenges he faced, and the role Oswaal Books played in his journey to perfection.
'I believe consistency and smart study matter more than just long hours. I never followed a fixed number of study hours, but I made sure every hour I studied was distraction-free and meaningful,' says Aarav, who aspires to pursue science in his higher secondary education.
When asked about how he approached different subjects, Aarav explained, 'Each subject needs a different strategy. For Math and Science, I focused more on concept clarity and practicing as many different types of questions as possible. Social Science and English were more about understanding and expressing well.'
Aarav credits a significant part of his success to the right study material. 'I relied heavily on Oswaal Books -- especially their Question Banks and Sample Papers. The way their content is structured makes it easy to revise topics quickly. The mind maps and concept videos in their books were extremely helpful,' he shares.
He also pointed out that practicing from Oswaal's sample papers gave him a real exam-like experience. 'Solving those papers helped me manage time better and understand the CBSE paper pattern more clearly. In fact, many similar questions appeared in the actual exam.'
Despite the pressure, Aarav remained calm and focused, a quality he attributes to support from his parents and teachers. 'They never pressured me for marks but encouraged me to do my best,' he says with a smile.
For future aspirants, Aarav has a simple message: 'Stay consistent, trust the process, and use quality resources like Oswaal Books. They really make a difference.'
As Aarav steps into the next chapter of his academic journey, he remains grounded and focused. His story is a powerful reminder that with the right mindset, guidance, and resources, achieving excellence is well within reach.

734 Mumbai students get MBBS seats in first round; Latur tops state admissions with 1,203 successful candidates
Pune: In the scramble for MBBS seats across Maharashtra, Mumbai held its ground with 734 students making the cut in the first round of allotments—429 of them in govt colleges. The numbers tell a larger story. While the so-called Latur Pattern—a drill of endless model test papers and marathon study hours—once again contributed to the last cohort of those who made the cut in NEET, Mumbai emerged as the city with the fourth-highest tally, after Latur, Nanded and Pune. Of the 8,138 students who secured seats in the first round across Maharashtra, the highest—1,203 students—hail from Latur district. Nanded came second with 936 students. Both Marathwada districts bagged 24% of the total seats between them. Pune, with 873 seats, and Mumbai, with 734, followed the top two districts in the first round. Unlike other districts, where board exam results are prioritised, schools and junior colleges in Latur and Nanded begin structured preparation for NEET and JEE from as early as Class 8. There are 8,138 seats as per the CET data for 64 govt and private medical colleges in Maharashtra. Latur-based medical consultant Sachin Bangad told TOI on Thursday, "The focus is always on preparation of students for medical or engineering seats in all colleges here. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The Latur Pattern's success in the last few years has also attracted students from all over Maharashtra. They come to Latur, Beed, and adjoining areas for preparation of these entrance exams. " Colleges in these districts have been consistently posting high numbers in MBBS admissions. This year, 37 students from Rajarshi Shahu College in Latur made it to AIIMS and other top medical institutes in the country. Principal Mahadev Gavhane, said, "The systematic approach, backed by long study hours, rigorous tests, and mentoring, have created what many describe as a 'factory of toppers'. This system has been going on for the past few years, and the results are evident. " Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Bengaluru, Mumbai, Patna among top PM2.5 emitters from diesel generator sets: Study
New Delhi: Bengaluru Urban, Mumbai, Patna, Gautam Buddha Nagar and North 24 Parganas record the highest emissions of PM2.5 from diesel generator (DG) sets in the country, according to a new study. The report, titled 'Switch on, Smoke off: Reducing Emissions from Diesel Generator Sets', was released by the Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), a Bengaluru-based think tank, at the India Clean Air Summit 2025 on Wednesday. According to the study, 14.7 lakh DG sets were operational in India in 2022. These machines contributed to 42 gigagrams (Gg) of PM2.5, 23 Gg of black carbon and 877 Gg of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The emissions are particularly high in several districts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra, the report said. PM2.5, or particulate matter smaller than 2.5 micrometres, is a major air pollutant linked to respiratory and cardiovascular illnesses. Patna, Gautam Budhha Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, Bengaluru Urban, Mumbai City, North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, Ajmer, Alwar and Jodhpur in Rajasthan, Bhopal, and Thane in Maharashtra record the highest PM2.5 emissions from DG sets in the country, the study showed. The study said that older or poorly maintained diesel engines often violate emission standards set by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and act as "super-emitters". These units release pollutants well above the permissible limits, especially in urban areas that experience frequent power outages. With the DG set market projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.8 per cent by 2030, the study warned that emissions could increase unless cleaner alternatives are promoted. It recommended measures such as adopting solar-based DG sets, upgrading to CPCB IV+ models with stricter emission controls and switching to gas-based generators. Retrofitting existing units with emission control devices was also suggested as a way to mitigate air pollution. Solar photovoltaic systems with storage have the potential to cut emissions completely but currently account for only 30 per cent of DG set demand due to their high cost, land requirements and concerns about reliability, the report said. Natural gas-based generators can reduce primary PM2.5 emissions by more than 95 per cent but face hurdles such as high upfront costs, limited pipeline networks in remote areas and safety challenges. The authors said there is a need for a national scrappage policy to phase out outdated and highly polluting DG sets. They also called for economic support measures such as financial incentives for rooftop solar systems with storage and subsidies for the purchase of CPCB IV+ compliant DG sets. The study suggested that the government make regular emission testing mandatory to identify non-compliant units. In areas where piped natural gas networks are being expanded, it recommended mandating gas-based generators as a cleaner option. PTI
