In a recent episode of his SiriusXM podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, the television host and comedian discussed his first encounter with Everybody Loves Raymond's Ray Romano – and how he rejected Romano's job application.
'Ray Romano wanted to be a monologue writer for my show. Great comedian, great joke writer. We didn't have a slot, but he had a good packet and people knew him, so I met with him,'
O'Brien said in his podcast.

'And I just kind of said that, 'Your stuff is great but we didn't have an opening,'' O'Brien, 62, explained. 'He goes from that experience to maybe a year later getting Everybody Loves Raymond and then becoming this monolithic TV star.
'I remember later on running into him and [him] saying, 'Ah, so I was really bummed I didn't get that job,' I'm like, 'What are you talking about? Do you realise what we pay monologue writers? Ray, Ray, hello! Ray, you're Ray Romano. That doesn't happen if you're with me writing!''
Romano, a stand-up comedian, rose to prominence in the early 90s and noughties for his role in CBS' hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, for which the actor won three Primetime Emmy Awards.

Alongside his accomplished Hollywood career, the 67-year-old has also been happily married to
his wife, Anna , for 37 years. The couple share four children together: Alexandra, Matthew, Gregory and Joseph.

Teen former member of US-based K-pop group VCHA sues label alleging abuse and exploitation

Something about K-pop always captivated Kiera Grace Madder. The 17-year-old singer has been a fan of its synchronised choreography, fashion-forward outfits and distinctive sound for as long as she can remember. So in 2022, when she learned that JYP Entertainment, one of the biggest K-pop talent agencies, had plans to make a group with North American-based talent, she jumped at the opportunity. She auditioned for a reality show and earned her place in an all-girl group called VCHA, with five other teens. But last summer, less than a year after officially debuting, the group pulled out of a performance and went quiet on social media. In a lawsuit filed last December against JYP USA in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Madder, who goes by the stage name KG Crown, revealed she had left VCHA and alleged child labour law violations, abuse and exploitation. Play 'I knew the K-pop system was very hard-working – probably one of the most hard-working systems in the music industry,' Madder said. 'I'm a hard worker, so I was willing to put in any hard work, but I did not know about what can go on behind closed doors.' JYP USA issued a statement on social media when the lawsuit was filed, claiming Madder had made 'unilateral public statements containing false and exaggerated claims'.

Why so few Asian-Americans in the Karate Kid series? How new movie Legends addresses this

It did not occur to Ben Wang right away that in taking on Karate Kid: Legends, he would be the franchise's first Asian-American 'Kid'. And that gives him a lot of optimism. His casting happened, he says, in 'a world where that's normal enough'. (From left) Jackie Chan, Ben Wang and Ralph Macchio in a still from Karate Kid: Legends.
