'Chorley is the best of Lancashire in one place'
Chorley has the best of Lancashire all in one place, the local council has said as it seeks to make the town a top visitor attraction by 2030. Bosses have drawn up what they call a "destination management plan" for the town and the surrounding areas of countryside.Council leader Alistair Bradley said the authority would be working with local people and businesses to achieve its aim, adding: "We need to speak up for Chorley"."Those of us who live here know how great it is, and other people come here plenty, but we want to see more of them," he said.
Bradley said Chorley already welcomed three million visitors a year, with 2,000 jobs relying on those people spending nearly £2m, but "we think we can do more than that". "We're just happy if people come for a day, two days, spend a bit of time here in Chorley," he said."The number of people who go up Rivington alone is thousands in the summer."Chorley has a bit of everything that Lancashire has, whether it's hills and mountain biking and walking, quaint villages with nice pubs and paces to eat, shopping in the town centre, it's a great place."
Could Chorley be a top tourist destination?
One visitor from Wigan told BBC Radio Lancashire: "It's only 20 minutes from Wigan and there's a nice shopping centre and the market's nice, but holidays? No I don't think so."But Chorley resident, Barbara Snaylam, said: "We've got everything now in Chorley, we've lovely markets and shops. "They come from all over now, Burnley, Blackburn, all over, because the markets are really good." The 78-year-old added: "If you like countryside you could go up Rivington, Anglezark and all round there is lovely."
Nigel Mountain, 68, also from Chorley, said he thought there were "more tourists coming now than before" and "it would build the town up"."Birkacre has got a good garden centre, there's a cafe down there, he said."I go fishing there, there's two lakes and they've got an area for children and you'd have a really good day down there."But there's not a lot of hotels."
"If they want to make it a tourist attraction they can," Joe Pownall, 75, said. "There are some places of interest, Astley village and Rivington."The outskirts are worth looking at round Astley Park.""But I don't think the town centre's much," he added."They've obviously sat down and thought of more places of interest than I can, but let them go ahead with it."It's going to fetch money into the town."

M&S selling £35 beauty bag worth £210 as online orders resume
The full-size Estée Lauder Double Wear Mascara costs £29 on its own, the entire bag is only £35 Marks and Spencer has resumed online orders after a cyber attack in April prevented shoppers from buying items in physical stores. On Tuesday, June 10, the retailer's website reopened to customers, offering a selection of fashion and new products for purchase and home delivery to England, Wales, and Scotland. Taking to social media this morning, M&S managing director of clothing, home and beauty John Lyttle said: "We are bringing back online shopping this week. More of our fashion, home and beauty products will be added every day, and we will resume deliveries to Northern Ireland and Click and Collect in the coming weeks. Thank you sincerely for your support and for shopping with us." Upon the website's return to taking online orders, M&S has released a new summer beauty bag worth £210. The bundle includes 11 products and only costs £35 to buy. However, for now, the bag is only available to buy in stores as M&S continues to add more beauty products back online. It is likely to appear on the website this week or next. The bag has gotten plenty of attention on social media as bargain hunters and savvy shoppers share the £35 bag with fellow shoppers. On the popular Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, a member named Tamara uploaded several pictures of the bag. She said: "Beauty bargain at M&S! £35 for the bag and all of the goodies inside, which totals up to £210 worth of beauty products!" She added: "The floral street perfume and Estée Lauder mascara are worth £29 each on their own!" Many headed to the comment section to share their thoughts. Victoria said: "It's a lovely box, my mum treated me to it a few days ago & it's lovely products." Jade said: "Got mine, it's brilliant." Marley tagged a friend and wrote: "Have you seen this?? meant to be such good value for money." What's inside M&S' £25 summer bag? Shoppers interested in the bag can read more about it on the M&S website. A statement about it online reads: "Beauty fanatics rejoice, the summer beauty bag is available to buy in store for just £35. Worth £210, the latest edition is bursting with iconic products in a brightly printed wash bag, making it ideal for getaways." The contents of the bag include: This Work's Perfect Body Smoothing Wash Discover's Sweet Frangipani handbag-size eau de toilette Bloom & Blossom's Mission Moisture Body Cream ARKIVE's Good Habit Hybrid Oil Estée Lauder's Double Wear Mascara, full-size REN Evercalm Daily Moisturiser ColorWow's Dream Coat spray Floral Street 's Electric Rhubarb Estée Lauder 's Revitalising Supreme Youth Power Crème Moisturiser Tangle Teezer hairbrush Dr Paw Paw's original balm What happened to M&S? The cyber attack occurred in April, leading to substantial disruptions for the store. M&S paused orders on its website during the Easter weekend and faced empty shelves after hackers targeted it. Hackers also stole customers' personal data, which may have included names, email addresses, postal addresses, and dates of birth. Last month, M&S disclosed that the breach was due to "human error" and estimated the cost to be around £300 million. In May, Chief Executive Stuart Machin said that hackers accessed the company's IT systems via a third party while reporting annual figures. Despite the challenges, all 565 stores remained open and operational, although contactless payments were initially affected. Stock availability issues occurred as the company had to revert to manual processes temporarily after the attack. M&S indicated that this incident could reduce its group operating profits by approximately £300 million this year. However, it anticipates mitigating this impact through cost management, insurance, and other measures. The company believes it could lessen the effects of the attack by as much as "half." The two door sideboard is usually priced at £80, B&M have not announced or advertised a discount for the product. Despite this the price of the item appears to have been reduced by a whopping £79 with shoppers racing to stores to snap up the bargain item. Social media users quickly tagged friends and pals in the post to share the massive savings on offer. The sideboard has a rustic oak finish and boasts plenty of storage space. The seemingly secret sale had shoppers clamouring to get to their local store to pick up one of the "lush" sideboards themselves. After sharing their bargain buy online the lucky shopper who spotted the discount was congratulated by others. One social media user said: "Absolute bargain. I've had this for ages and paid £40. It's lush." Another commented: "Good for you, a bargain and then some." Shoppers hoping to get their hands on the discounted furniture will have to be quick and will need to download the B&M scanner. Amazon said the piece of furniture, which they are selling for £89.99, offers: "Convenient hidden storage space behind two doors with a rustic wood finish. "With its rectangular shape and metal legs, this storage cabinet can serve well in entryways, hallways, or dining rooms for organizing shoes, books, toys and more.
