Couple faces drug trafficking charges in Melaka court
Ahmad Ramdzan Mohamed, 26, and Farah Amira Mohamad Ali, 28, acknowledged the charge but did not enter a plea as drug trafficking cases are under High Court jurisdiction.
The charge states they were found with the substance near Jalan Teruna 1, Taman Bukit Rambai, Melaka Tengah, at around 6 pm on July 22.
Prosecuted under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, they face the death penalty or life imprisonment with mandatory caning if convicted.
Inspector Mohd Zaidi Tahir, the prosecuting officer, confirmed the chemistry report is pending and bail was denied. T
he couple was unrepresented in court.
In a separate charge, both pleaded not guilty to obstructing police duties by fleeing during an inspection at Anika Apartments, Lorong Pandan, on the same day.
They were charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code, punishable by up to two years' jail or a RM10,000 fine.
Ahmad Ramdzan also denied a charge of causing hurt to a policeman under Section 332 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum three-year sentence.

MUAR: Two Bangladeshi cyclists were killed and a fellow country man seriously injured after a hit-and-run in Parit Salam, Parit Yusof, here last night. Mall assault: Classmates attacked teen over how he spoke, say cops
KUALA LUMPUR: The Form One student assaulted at a Kajang mall was targeted over his classmates' dissatisfaction with his communication and behaviour. Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said the remand for the four 13-year-old students was extended for one more day until tomorrow. "The students were released on police bail today after the documentation and investigation process were completed. "So far, nine witness statements have been taken, including those from the four students who were arrested. "The suspect, a classmate of the victim, was dissatisfied over how the complainant communicated and interacted with classmates," he said when contacted today. Four male students were detained after the victim, who is also a Form One student at a secondary school in Kajang, lodged a police report after being beaten by a classmate at 11am on July 30. The case is being investigated under Sections 323 and 506 of the Penal Code as well as Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

Four teens freed on bail in Kajang assault case
KUALA LUMPUR: Four 13-year-old students detained over the alleged assault of a classmate at a shopping mall in Kajang have been released on police bail today. Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the remand for the suspects, which was initially extended until tomorrow, was concluded earlier following the completion of documentation and investigative procedures. 'To date, police have recorded statements from nine individuals, including the four students,' he said in a statement. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by dissatisfaction among the suspects with the victim's manner of communication and interaction.
