
3 dead, 3 injured as fire breaks out at factory near Delhi's Rithala metro station

New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Three people died and three were injured as a fire broke out in a polyethylene factory near the Rithala Metro Station in New Delhi, according to the Delhi police.
A total of 15 fire tenders from the Delhi Fire Service rushed to the accident site after fire broke out in the polyethylene factory near the Rithala Metro Station.
According to Divisional Fire Officer AK Jaiswal, the factory was engaged in printing on plastic and clothes.
'Printing on plastic and clothes is done in this factory. The people here told us that 2-3 people have been taken to the hospital. 15 fire tenders are present at the spot. The fire is under control, but we cannot enter the second and third floors... When we are able to enter, then we will see if there is any casualty or not.'
Firefighting operations are ongoing, and authorities are awaiting access to the upper floors to determine whether there are any casualties.

Robbers decamp with cash over Rs 30 lakh, kulfis worth Rs 1000 in two separate thefts in Delhi
New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): Two separate robbery incidents in the national capital have been reported within four days. The first case took place in Vasant Kunj South on June 23, while the second was recorded in the Keshavpuram area on June 19, Delhi Police said. In the incident reported from Vasant Kunj South on June 23, a robbery worth 30 lakh was reported. The victim, Karan Chopra, a city gas distributor, informed police that three to four people forcibly entered his house and looted cash amounting to 30 lakh. The station house officer (SHO), along with police officials, reached the spot after receiving information and called the crime team for an inspection of the crime scene. A case has been registered under Sections 309(4), 331(6), 351(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Police Station Vasant Kunj South. Police stated that while some suspects have been identified, efforts are underway to trace the remaining accused. The investigation is currently ongoing. Meanwhile, on June 19 night in the Keshavpuram area of the national capital, three men robbed a shopowner at knifepoint. The shop owner, Dharmendra, told police that around 11 pm while he was cleaning his shop, two men wearing caps and masks entered and threatened him. When he tried to leave, one of the robbers in a red cap restrained him with a knife and asked for the cashbox. They decamped with 43,000 in cash, an iPhone 11, a silver Sonata watch, some visiting cards, copies of Aadhaar and PAN cards, and even kulfis worth 1,000 from the refrigerator. The shopkeeper told police that a third person was seen waiting outside on a motorcycle, and the trio fled the scene soon after the robbery. Police have registered a case under sections 309(4) and 3(5) of the BNS and are actively investigating the case. (ANI)

Nitish Katara murder case: Supreme Court grants 3 months furlough to convict Sukhdev Yadav
ANI 25 Jun 2025, 15:08 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted a furlough of three months to Sukhdev Yadav, alias Pehalwan, a convict in the 2002 Nitish Katara murder case. A bench of Justices Ujjal Bhuyan and K Vinod Chandran noted that Yadav has undergone 20 years of uninterrupted incarceration without remission and granted him furlough. The top court ordered that Yadav be produced before the trial court within seven days, which will put conditions of furlough. It also ordered that the safety of Neelam Katara be considered when releasing Yadav on furlough. Yadav sought a furlough till the time the apex court decides his appeal seeking remission, as he has completed 20 years of sentence. He had sought remission after serving a 20-year jail term without remission in the case. The apex court, in its verdict delivered on February 6, 2015, sentenced Yadav to 'life imprisonment, which shall be 20 years of actual imprisonment without consideration of remission'. Sukhdev Yadav, Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal were convicted and sentenced for their role in the kidnapping and killing of Katara. They kidnapped Katara from a marriage party on the intervening night of February 16-17, 2002 and then killed him for his alleged affair with Vikas' sister Bharti Yadav. Bharti was the daughter of Uttar Pradesh politician DP Yadav. (ANI)

ED raids 10 places in Delhi-NCR, Punjab in Rs 988 crore bank fraud case
New Delhi [India], June 25 (ANI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at 10 premises across Delhi-NCR and Punjab in the case of Shilpi Cables Technologies Ltd (SCTL) linked to cheating and defrauding the IDBI bank limited and other consortium banks to the tunes of Rs 988 crores, sources said. Since morning, raids have been underway at nine places in Delhi and NCR and one in Punjab's Ludhiana in the case, which the ED took on the basis of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) FIR of bank fraud. The case involves the promoters of Shilpi Cables Technologies Ltd (SCTL) and their associates cheating and defrauding IDBI Bank Limited and other consortium banks to the tune of Rs 988 crores. Sources privy to the development told ANI that the premises planned to be covered in the search action belong to the entities and persons closely associated with the promoters, Shilpi Cables Technologies Ltd. 'Some entities are being indirectly controlled and operated by Manish Goel (MD of SCTL),' said the sources, adding further, 'Several persons being covered in the search have been office holders in SCTL and have been involved in various activities like rotation of funds and infusion cash through various dummy entities into the entities beneficially owned and controlled by Manish Goel.' As per officials, a large portion of the money availed from banks devolving Letter of Credit was transferred abroad using fake transactions. (ANI)
