Craig Bellamy relaxed over Man Utd youngster Gabriele Biancheri's Wales future
Cardiff-born Biancheri is eligible to play for Canada, where his mother was born, and Italy – birthplace of his father.
The 18-year-old, a regular scorer for United youth teams, was part of Bellamy's training squad in Spain ahead of upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
Biancheri was not in the Wales squad named on Wednesday for those fixtures with Liechtenstein and Belgium, with the player accepting an invitation to join Canada's training camp prior to June games against Ukraine and the Ivory Coast.
'I like people having options, it's healthy,' Bellamy said of a player capped by Wales from under-16 to under-19 level.
'He's not ready for our squad yet. It's something he'd like to go and have a look at, but I like to think we have done our work as well.
'He has been with us through the younger age groups, he knows what we are about and who we are.
'I don't think it ever hurts someone to have options and to go and explore them. I'm never against that.
'At the end the decision will be his. He knows where we are and where he is. He's not ready for first-team football with us at this moment.
'It's his decision. I've known him since he was very young and I know his family really well. Whatever he does will be the right thing for him, it's not a problem.'
Canada boss Jesse Marsch has praised Biancheri and compared him to his highly rated Lille striker Jonathan David.
The former Leeds boss told Canadian reporters last week: 'He's a dynamic player. He's very good around the goal. You can see he's an intelligent player.
'He's a version of Jonathan David. He's not exactly the same player but he's a striker that can play up on the backline and is also good at coming underneath and connecting plays and being part of the build-up phase.
'I've had good conversations with Gabe and his family. He has several options to think about in what country he wants to represent.
'I think it's really important that the family feels the connection to Canada.'

Victor Griffith opens up on St Johnstone challenge as Panama recall has pre-season impact
St Johnstone midfielder, Victor Griffith, aims to make up for lost time with the Panama national team. The 24-year-old signed for Saints in January, and playing for his country after a couple of years out of the picture was one of his aims. Head coach, Thomas Christiansen, wanted to call him up in March but Griffith decided that his recovery from an ankle injury would be better served by staying in Scotland. Although his form for the Perth side wasn't as good after that lay-off than it was before, he was recalled for Panama's June World Cup qualifiers and the Concacaf Gold Cup that follows on. And, speaking to the media back home, Griffith has been positive about his first few months at McDiarmid Park, despite the fact Saints were relegated from the Premiership. He is currently in a training camp and is expected to be confirmed in Panama's official 26-man squad at the start of next week. It has been suggested that Griffith has a strong chance of getting game-time. And he is excited about the prospect of adding to his 10 caps now that the wait for a recall has ended. 'I have high expectations,' he said. 'I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. 'Right now, I'm focused on doing well, on my return to the national team, and I want to accomplish everything the coach asks of me. 'Expectations are high, and we're always going to want to win.' On the challenges Griffith has faced in Scotland, he reflected: 'Well, it was actually quite a big step, going from the Panama league to European football. 'That's rarely seen before. 'The truth is that it's helped me a lot. Since I arrived there, they've given me enormous confidence. 'I played in positions that weren't my usual ones. 'They opened up a window of positions where I could perhaps show off a bit better or do things differently.' Panama's busy schedule is likely to have an impact on Griffith being able to hit the ground running with Saints next season, however. The last time there was a Gold Cup, they went all the way through to the final. If they repeat that this time around, the tournament won't conclude for Griffith until July 7. Saints return for pre-season training on June 23.

Man United cannot say no to that. 'You know when you talk about this system as well, I know he has been brilliant and carried the team on his back but where does he play? What is his position? Do you see him as a number 10? Do you see him as a holding midfielder? 'He almost confuses the whole system because he doesn't have that one position for him. I mean he has been brilliant don't get me wrong. But when you're getting £100m for him you snap their hand off and take it.' Pundit Jamie Carragher agreed, saying: 'I've always described Bruno Fernandes as a great talent but not a great player. Where does he play? 'He's a bit mad in that he just runs all over the place, like a kid in the school yard. The best player in the school yard doing everything but in a really poor team. I don't think he's ever had any discipline in those No. 10 positions.' The four-time United Player of the Season's manager, Amorim, however, has made it clear he wants Fernandes to stay. The Portuguese head coach sang the midfielder's praises during the club's post-season trip to Asia this week. Asked about the present situation, Amorim said: "We've talked about this many times. You can see by his performances. You can see by his leadership. 'You can see the passion he has for the game. In difficult moments Bruno is the guy who takes responsibility. He should do because he is the captain."
