Hyderabad has captured imagination of firms setting up GCCs

Hyderabad's value proposition to companies setting up global capability centres has captured the imagination of industry leaders, a senior official of Telangana government told a GCC Leadership Conclave here on Wednesday.
From superior infrastructure, talent pool, ecosystem, comparatively lower cost of operations to a responsive government, the value proposition that Hyderabad offers has helped the city attract a large number of GCCs over the last three years, said Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture Department.
Seeking to drive home how the city has emerged a preferred destination for global companies, he said 'not a single week passes that we do not get into a serious GCC engagement... either the decision making leadership comes for a due diligence visit or we are making an announcement or inaugurating a new GCC office. On some days there are two or more such engagements.'
Addressing the Conclave hosted by The Leadership Federation, he said compared to Bengaluru rentals, cost of living as well as talent besides rate of attrition are lower in Hyderabad, he said. Talent pool, innovation ecosystem and forum of GCCs are other aspects aiding the growth of the city as the hub. The government is continuously exploring what's next by proactively planning to address the challenges that accompany development. Several new IT parks are currently under development, including Neopolis, which is set to be on a par with Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) regarding infrastructure and scale, Mr. Ranjan said.
In a release, the organisers of the Conclave said senior leaders from global enterprises, government, academia and innovation hubs participated in the programme centred on the evolving role of India's GCCs, how the facilities are transitioning from traditional support functions to becoming engines of enterprise innovation, value creation and economic growth.
'India has the opportunity to cement its position as a global hub for innovation and excellence through a modern Global Capability Center network powered by AI,' said Paul Roehrig, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer of Ascendion.

Chennai, Aug 2 (PTI) Education technology company launched the 'Evo11ve AI Coach', an online portal designed to benefit the student community, an official said on Saturday. Targeted at students from classes 6 to 12 under the CBSE curriculum, the dedicated web portal aims to significantly improve grade averages and enhance academic outcomes, said Swapna Reddy, founder and CEO of the city-based in a statement. 'We strongly believe that with the right learning strategies and personalisation, children can learn anything. Our AI Coach has the potential to analyse and identify knowledge gaps and improve each student's performance by 10–20 percentage points through sustained use," Reddy added. According to Reddy, the AI-driven solution enables intelligent, adaptive learning by understanding the level and context of each student. It can tailor learning paths to address gaps and support deeper understanding where necessary. Citing a study which found that only 43 per cent of children aged 14 to 18 can solve a three-digit division problem and just 57.3 per cent can read English sentences, Reddy said that such issues can be addressed effectively with the right use of artificial intelligence. 'This unique web application provides a safe space for learners to ask questions, make mistakes without judgment, and access unlimited opportunities for practice and assessment through customised sessions," she added. As a curtain-raiser to the launch, recently conducted the 'CreAltive 2025' contest—a competition challenging CBSE students from classes 6 to 12 to harness the power of AI. The event recognised the most creative and well-executed projects, with 350 students from over 35 schools participating. Eighteen students were named winners, the company added. Apple CEO Tim Cook has told employees that the company is going 'all in' on artificial intelligence, describing it as a technology revolution on par with, or even greater than, the internet and the smartphone era. According to Bloomberg, Cook delivered the message in a rare allhands meeting held in the company's oncampus auditorium, following the iPhone maker's latest earnings report. The address was aimed at energising Apple staff around AI and what Cook called the company's 'amazing' pipeline of future must do this. Apple will do this. This is sort of ours to grab,' Cook told staff. 'We will make the investment to do it,' he CEO compared the rise of AI to past technological shifts. 'We've rarely been first,' he said. 'There was a PC before the Mac; there was a smartphone before the iPhone; there were many tablets before the iPad; there was an MP3 player before iPod. This is how I feel about AI.' Cook said the company was 'open' to mergers and acquisitions to accelerate progress. Reports have suggested that Apple has even weighed up potential acquisitions, including AI search engine Perplexity and the French startup Mistral was months behind OpenAI, Alphabet and Microsoft when it announced its Apple Intelligence features last year – and even then, several of those tools failed to arrive in time for the iPhone 16 launch, leading to some awkward delays and Cook downplayed concerns about the slow rollout and said that perhaps not first, but Apple delivers the best. However, he urged employees to speed up how quickly AI is integrated into Apple's work. 'All of us are using AI in a significant way already, and we must use it as a company as well,' Cook said. Talking of the actual effect of AI, Vembu said that it makes engineers about 20% more efficient but does not displace them. Without the control of humans, even sophisticated AI models may develop into prejudice, inefficiency, or security loopholes. This highlights the importance of engineers keeping the wheel in hand, not only to employ AI, but to guide and control its response also quietly underscores the need for ongoing learning. Those engineers who take the initiative to upskill in such spaces as machine learning, prompt engineering, and AI operations (AIOps) are future-proofing themselves. In the current job market, flexibility is need to shift their L&D strategies too, to include AI fluency in their tech teams. AI literacy will become as essential as coding soon. Progressive organizations have already incorporated AI tools into their SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and are challenging engineers to tinker, iterate, and of positioning AI as an employment-thieving villain, leaders such as Vembu promote establishing human-focused AI ecosystems, spaces in which machines are used to enhance human potential. Because ultimately, the most skilled engineers won't be replaced by AI, they'll be the ones designing it.
