Himachal CM inaugurates integrated command centre in Dharamshala
Under this project, 229 CCTV cameras have been installed at prominent places in the city, out of which seven sites have been installed under the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS). This system will be helpful in better implementation of traffic management, surveillance, public safety and law and order, officials said.
This state-of-the-art centre has been established at a cost of ₹2.72 crore. 'This centre is an important step towards strengthening urban governance and other civic services in the city. This centre will act as a central system for monitoring, coordination and rapid response management, ensuring public service delivery and urban security. It is planned that in the near future, all the cameras installed in Kangra will be monitored at one focal point through this server,' police officials said.

Over 5,450 CCTV cameras integrated under unified control room
PUNE: In a major step towards smart policing plus real-time traffic management, over 5,450 CCTV cameras installed by the Pune Metro, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and Smart City Mission are being integrated for the first time on Friday, August 22, 2025 under the unified control room to enable the city police keep a vigilant eye on overcrowding, traffic congestion, accidents and crime among others. (Photo by Shankar Narayan/HT PHOTO) Of the total more than 5,450 CCTV cameras – 2,000 installed by the PMRDA in the villages merged with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) not very long ago – have already been connected to the ultramodern control room of the city police based in Shivajinagar. As such, these cameras which had so far remained underutilised are now supplying a continuous stream of live data. Furthermore, another 3,000 CCTV cameras – installed by the Pune Metro along major metro routes such as Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi – are also now under the purview of the city police. Additionally, around 450 CCTV cameras – installed by Pune's Smart City Mission mainly in the Aundh-Baner-Balewadi area – are now helping the city police improve patrolling and turnaround times. The Smart City Mission had initially installed these cameras to cover around 950 acres which was later expanded to nearly 2,500 acres to include more neighbourhoods. The CCTV cameras have been installed along key bends and isolated stretches of high-risk zones such as Bopdeo Ghat to keep track of speeding and dangerous driving. Bopdeo Ghat has also been equipped with night-vision cameras and automated number plate recognition (ANPR) systems to help the police track suspicious vehicles and curb criminal activities in the area. The integration marks the first coordinated effort to centralise and utilise these CCTV camera feeds effectively. Assistant commissioner of police/ACP (information technology) Vivek Pawar explained that technical challenges such as disconnections during the monsoon caused by trees falling on overhead cables have now been resolved. 'We have laid a network of underground fibre optic cables which has ensured seamless data transmission. The control rooms of the Smart City Mission, PMRDA and Pune Metro are now linked to the main police control room, enabling smooth processing of data. All CCTV footage is now recorded on the police servers for analysis and reference. The unified CCTV network will not only boost traffic regulation capabilities but also significantly enhance the city's crime surveillance system, marking a significant leap in Pune's smart city journey,' Pawar told Hindustan Times. Whereas additional commissioner (eastern region) Manoj Patil said that the data is also being shared with the PMC's advanced traffic management system (ATMS) project under the Smart City Mission. 'This integrated approach allows us to provide real-time solutions without delay, ultimately helping citizens experience smoother commutes,' Patil said.

Noida Police On High Alert: Extensive Security, Traffic Plans For Independence Day
Noida Police has made extensive security arrangements throughout the city in preparation for India's 79th Independence Day on 15th August. There is a strong deployment of security personnel, with special focus being placed in areas that border Delhi and other vulnerable areas. Heightened Vigil And Surveillance More than 1,400 civilian police officers have been put on duty across Noida to keep a round-the-clock vigil. Drone cameras are also being used for surveillance of sensitive points and along the Delhi border for an eye in the sky to boost security. A special team has been constituted to monitor social media sites actively. This team will quickly act against those trying to disturb public peace or propagate misinformation online. Traffic Diversions And Real-Time Monitoring In order to facilitate the free flow of traffic, diversions have been introduced throughout Noida and Greater Noida. The Police Control Room is carrying out real-time monitoring through CCTV and Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) cameras. Apart from that, checking operations are being carried out with dog squads to detect suspicious persons and vehicles. Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh has confirmed that traffic diversions are in place at the Noida-Delhi border, and traffic is being diverted through the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. The Delhi Police has also made special arrangements to handle the expected boost in traffic towards Mathura because of the joint festivities of Independence Day and Janmashtami. In addition, three anti-drone stations have been deployed along the Delhi border to neutralize any unapproved drone operation. Foot and mobile patrolling is also being carried out in cluster areas, complemented by round-the-clock drone surveillance that is directly connected to the central command room for complete security coverage.

100 or more traffic challans in Lucknow against five bikers
Five of the top 10 repeat traffic offenders in the city have been issued at least 100 challans for violations, as per the integrated traffic management system (ITMS) in place here. The 10th worst offender has violated traffic rules at least 85 times. (File) 'ITMS data show that some individuals have accumulated an alarming number of e-challans. In some cases, individuals have crossed 100 violations just this year alone,' said deputy commissioner of police (DCP)-Traffic Kamlesh Dixit told HT. As per the data, the most frequent offender has been issued 127 challans. All offenders in the list were driving two-wheelers when they were fined. The violations included jumping signals, overspeeding, riding without helmets, entering no-entry zones, and lane indiscipline. 'These violations show that for some, penalties are not acting as a deterrent. We are actively considering stricter actions,' added the DCP traffic. According to sources in the traffic department, it is exploring measures such as suspending driving licences, seizing vehicles with multiple unpaid challans, and conducting special drives targeting high-risk zones. Additionally, public awareness campaigns are being planned to educate people about the risks of reckless driving.
