Joe Milton Goes Viral for Insane Display of Athleticism
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Joe Milton is not your average backup QB.
Milton stands 6-5, 246 pounds, and has a cannon of an arm. He also possesses supreme athleticism for a man of his size.

Milton recently went viral after a video of him doing a standing backflip in full uniform and gear was posted on social media. (See Mike Fisher's tweet below.)
Milton has only started one NFL game, but his ceiling as a backup quarterback could be through the roof.
SI ranked Milton as the 17th-best backup in the league. ... a surprise in two ways.
First, their thoughts ...
'Some might argue that this ranking is too low for Milton after dazzling in his Week 18 start last season for the Patriots. However, Milton, who went 22-of-29 for 241 yards and two total touchdowns, faced the Buffalo Bills' backups a week before the playoffs. The Patriots were quick to trade the 2024 sixth-round pick. But the Cowboys were impressed with Milton's lone start, sending this year's fifth-round pick to New England to land Dak Prescott's backup,' the site wrote.

No, we wouldn't argue about "too low'' ... because two weeks ago - maybe unbeknownst to SI - Milton wasn't even the No. 2 QB here.
So No. 17 is a pleasant surprise in that regard.
And one more: At this early stage, "average'' is good enough ... because it's all upside with "Bazooka Joe.''
While being ranked No. 17 is "average,'' Milton still ranked higher than 10 players who drafted in rounds earlier than his sixth-round selection. Some of the names Milton ranked higher than include 2024 fifth-round pick Spencer Rattler, veteran fourth rounders Josh Dobbs and Jarrett Stidham, five players who were drafted as second or third-round picks, and former first-round picks Kenny Pickett and Mitchell Trubisky.

Milton has impressed during OTAs and gives the Cowboys a true dual-threat backup quarterback. He will have a great opportunity to learn from one of the league's best quarterbacks in Dak Prescott this upcoming season.

Cowboys Injury Update: WR Mingo's knee biggest concern coming out of loss to Ravens
Jonathan Mingo injured his right knee against the Ravens and is scheduled for an MRI today. The Cowboys also had injuries to Bruce Harmon, Princeton Fant, and Christian Matthew in the preseason loss. The Dallas Cowboys came out of Saturday night's preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens with several injury concerns. The most notable was wide receiver Jonathan Mingo, who is feared to have suffered a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) injury in his right knee. Mingo landed awkwardly while trying to make a catch in the end zone during the third quarter, one play after recording a 49-yard reception. He went to the medical tent and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Mingo is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury. Early reports suggest he could miss time, depending on the results. Acquired by Dallas at last season's trade deadline, Mingo is competing for a roster spot in his first training camp with the team. A significant absence would complicate that competition and may force the Cowboys to make adjustments when setting the 53-man roster. Three other players also left the game with injuries: The Cowboys will learn more about the extent of Mingo's injury and the status of the others following further evaluation.

Cowboys Coach Gets Honest on Dak Prescott's Backup Situation
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. After two preseason games, the Dallas Cowboys' situation behind Dak Prescott is concerning. Joe Milton, an offseason trade acquisition from the New England Patriots, was expected to turn heads at training camp and throughout the preseason in his first run with the Cowboys. So far, the young veteran has shown plenty of struggles. The good news for Dallas is that Milton's head coach has not lost faith in him. Following Saturday night's loss against the Baltimore Ravens, Brian Schottenheimer addressed the state of the backup quarterback position after seeing the first two preseason games play out. "I wouldn't say I'm concerned," Schottenheimer told the media, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota. "We didn't get in a rhythm. ... It wasn't just Joe." Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on QB Joe Milton: 'I wouldn't say I'm concerned. We didn't get in a rhythm. … It wasn't just Joe.' So far, it's hard to make the assumption that Milton is the surefire pick. Last week, Milton completed 17 of his 29 passes for 143 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against the Los Angeles Rams. He ended up exiting the game early with a minor setback. Fortunately, Milton wasn't dealing with anything concerning enough to threaten his second week's availability. The veteran quarterback completed nine of his 18 pass attempts. He totaled 122 yards while throwing an interception. "I feel like I don't have to decide anything today," Schottenheimer said, regarding the backup position. As underwhelming as Milton has been, Will Grier's limited action hasn't made a case to force Milton out of the picture. Against the Ravens, Grier threw for 33 yards, completing just one of his five attempts. So far, neither player has stood out enough to become Prescott's guaranteed No. 2. Earlier in the offseason, the Cowboys were praised for their decision to add Milton in a trade with the Patriots. That deal isn't looking like the slam dunk it seemed on paper just yet. You Won't Believe the Last Time Scottie Scheffler Paid for a Round of Golf
You Won't Believe the Last Time Scottie Scheffler Paid for a Round of Golf originally appeared on Athlon Sports. As the PGA Tour heads toward the FedExCup playoffs, Scottie Scheffler stands atop the leaderboard of professional golf. The 29-year-old American has claimed four major championships (two this year) and secured his grip on the World No. 1 ranking for 151 weeks, an era of dominance that few in the sport can rival. But away from the tournament fairways and leaderboards, Scheffler revealed on Wednesday a slice of life that many fans wouldn't expect from the world's top player. Asked when he last paid for a round, Scheffler joked, "It's been a while. I remember the last time I didn't get to pay for a round…one of my buddies in the pro shop had to pay for a round. That was pretty funny." He recounted walking into a local public course about five years ago, asking his friend at the pro shop to ring him up for tee times. The pro said, "Oh no no, you're good," only to turn to Scheffler's friend and say, "Actually, you gotta pay." Scheffler laughed at the memory, noting that they still tease his friend about footing the bill. Scottie Scheffler's Early PGA Career: From Junior Star to Tour Rookie Scheffler's rise began long before he turned pro in 2018. As a youth, he won 90 of 136 junior events on the Northern Texas PGA circuit and captured the 2013 U.S. Junior Amateur title. At the University of Texas, he helped the Longhorns to Big 12 championships and earned Phil Mickelson Freshman of the Year honors in 2015. On the Korn Ferry Tour in 2019, Scheffler's play propelled him to Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Finals points list winner, granting him full PGA Tour status for 2020. He wasted little time making waves as a rookie, finishing fourth on the money list and earning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year. The Scottie Scheffler Breakthrough Year: 2022 and Beyond The 2022 season marked Scheffler's true arrival on golf's biggest stage. In the span of three months, he notched his first PGA Tour victory, ascended to world No. 1, hoisted his first green jacket at the Masters Tournament and won PGA Tour Player of the Year. That breakthrough season included four wins, an astonishing run that made him the first golfer since Arnold Palmer in 1960 (and only the second ever) to win that many events, including the Masters, in that span of time to begin the season. He backed that up by winning The Players Championship in both 2023 and 2024, becoming the first player to secure back-to-back titles at the sport's "fifth major." At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Scheffler added an individual gold medal to his resume and capped the year by clinching the inaugural FedExCup title at East Lake Golf Club. This season, he's won four events: The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, PGA Championship, Memorial Tournament and Open Championship, joining Tiger Woods as the only two players to win the Open Championship while ranked No. 1 in the world.
