New Delhi: Strong surface winds during day time is likely in the national capital on Sunday, the
Indian Meteorological Department
(IMD) said.
Delhi on Saturday recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius, 0.2 notches below the season's average, the IMD said.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.3 degrees Celsius, 0.1 notch below the season's average, with a relative humidity of 43 per cent at 5.30 pm, it added.

Bhopal: Summer heat is back in Bhopal in between long wait for pre-monsoon showers. The temperature over a number of places in the state remained at 40 degrees or above. The rise in temperatures was expected to continue over the next few days. The day temperature in Bhopal on Saturday was recorded at 39.8 degrees Celsius, a degree less than the normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 26.4 degrees Celsius, a degree less than the normal mark. Day temperature in Khajuraho was 42.2 degrees celsius. In the forecast for Bhopal on Sunday the meteorological dept stated there would be partly cloudy sky with chances of thundering activities in the late evening and night hours. Day and night temperature would be respectively 39 degrees celsius and 26 degrees Celsius, while average wind speed will be twenty kilometers per hour. In the forecast for the state the meteorological dept issued warning of thunderstorm with lightning, gusty wind 40 kmph-50 kmph at isolated places in Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Dindori, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, and Pandhurna dists. A warning of thunderstorm with lightning, wind 30 kmph-40 kmph at isolated places was underlined for Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur districts in the state. A possibility of rainfall or drizzle with thunderstorm, lightning at isolated places was underlined for Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, Sehore, Rajgarh, Narmadapuram, Betul, Harda, Burhanpur, Khandwa, Khargone, Barwani, Alirajpur, Jhabua, Dhar, Indore, Ratlam, Ujjain, Dewas, Shajapur, Agar, Anuppur, Dindori, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat and Pandhurna dists. A dry weather would prevail over remaining dists in the state. In the weather outlook the Met department forecasts a gradual increase in temperature by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the next four days.

Jaisalmer remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 45.3 degrees Celsius was recorded. The Met office said heat wave is likely to aggravate in the coming days. The Jaipur Met office said that pre-monsoon activity is likely to start in the state by June 15 and the monsoon is likely to enter Rajasthan by June 20. The heat wave also affected drinking water supply in many villages in districts, including Jaisalmer, Barmer, Dausa, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Churu and Bikaner. People in Jaipur witnessed a comparatively warmer morning after almost a week when a minimum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius was recorded. In the afternoon, a maximum temperature of 41.8 degrees Celsius was recorded. The revival of the heat wave affected drinking water supply in many areas in Jhotwara, Khirni Phatak, Bhankrota, Murlipura, Shastri Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, and Jhalana Dungari. In many places, residents are booking water tankers which are charging Rs 500 to Rs 800 per tanker.

May rain caused 35cr farm loss in Nashik

Nashik: Over 35,000 farmers across 1,469 villages in Nashik district have reported crop losses covering 12,156 hectares, resulting in a combined estimated loss of Rs35 crore due to unseasonal rain in May. According to a senior officer from the district administration, a report was prepared based National Disaster Response Funds (NDRF) guidelines and the estimated damage was sent to state govt for further action. "A total of 35,757 farmers were affected due to unseasonal rain that wreaked havoc in Nashik district. The worst-hit talukas were Surgana, followed by Peth, Satana, Dindori, and others. The loss of crops that were damaged by 33 % or more was estimated at Rs 35 crore," said the officer. Among horticultural crops, 21,084 farmers from 957 villages suffered losses on 9,494 hectares, with a total loss of Rs25.6 crore. In Satana, 3,719 farmers in 145 villages lost crops over 3,069 hectares (including 3,042 hectares of onions and 27 hectares of other crops), resulting in a loss of Rs8.3 crore. Igatpuri reported damage across 1,087 hectares (169 hectares of onions and 918 hectares of other crops), affecting 2,919 farmers in 100 villages, with an estimated loss of Rs2.9 crore. In Niphad, 1,968 farmers from 110 villages lost crops across 964 hectares (636 hectares of onions and 328 hectares of other crops), with total losses of Rs2.6 crore. Farmers cultivating multi-year crops like mango and pomegranates also suffered major losses. A total of 14,673 farmers from 512 villages reported losses over 2,662 hectares, with damages worth Rs9.6 crore. Overall, 2,442 hectares of mango and 220 hectares of other multi-year crops were affected. The officer said as per recommendations of NDRF farmers will get compensation at the rate of Rs 27,000 per hectare for damage to horticulture crops and Rs 36,000 per hectare for multi-year crops.
