Meghalaya honeymoon murder: Trekker shares chilling last video of Raja Raghuvanshi with Sonam; wife's shirt matches one found near body
NEW DELHI: A video shared by a tourist on his Instagram account may offer crucial visual evidence in the shocking murder of Indore man Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya. The video, accidentally recorded by traveler Dev Singh on May 23, shows Raja and his wife Sonam walking up the trail near the famous double-decker living root bridge in Nongriat — the day Raja is believed to have been murdered. Singh, who posted the video on July 15, wrote that he had only discovered the footage while reviewing clips from his trip to Meghalaya. 'It was around 9.45 in the morning. We were heading down when the couple was climbing up after staying overnight in Nongriat village. I think this was the last recording of them together,' Singh wrote. He added that Sonam was wearing a white shirt — the same one later found near Raja's body. Singh expressed grief as he watched Raja in the clip: 'He looked normal, completely unaware of what lay ahead.' He also mentioned having another video showing three more people from Indore, who began their trek 20 minutes before Raja and Sonam and were later picked up by police. Singh has appealed for the video to be forwarded to the Meghalaya Police and requested that it not be used without permission. The case so far Raja and Sonam got married on May 11 and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. On May 23, Raja went missing in the East Khasi Hills district. His body was discovered on June 2 in a deep gorge near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra (also known as Cherrapunjee). The investigation soon led to Raja's wife Sonam, who was detained from Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, along with four others — her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three suspected contract killers: Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi. According to the Meghalaya Police, the murder conspiracy was planned in Indore earlier this year, even before the wedding. The police claim Raj Kushwaha was the mastermind, and Sonam was a willing accomplice. The hired attackers were reportedly close friends — one even a cousin of Kushwaha — and not professional killers. Police say they were paid Rs 50,000 to carry out the plan and cover travel expenses. The investigation suggests that Raja's murder was premeditated, with Sonam playing a key role in ensuring he was isolated and vulnerable during the trip. After the crime, she surfaced in Ghazipur and surrendered on June 9. The emergence of this new video may help Meghalaya Police further corroborate the timeline of events and tighten the case against the accused.

Watch: Monkey Steals Money From Tourist In Tamil Nadu, Then Does This
Kodaikanal: A monkey stole a bundle of Rs 500 notes from a man near Guna Caves in Kodaikanal, a famous tourist destination in Tamil Nadu, scaled a tree and then threw them from there. The animal snatched the money from a Karnataka tourist, who was reportedly carrying multiple bundles of 500-rupee notes. The monkey unexpectedly appeared, grabbed his backpack, and ran away. Sitting atop the tree, it pulled the notes out of the bag, observed and occasionally dropped one or two of them. A large crowd stood underneath the tree as mere spectators, capturing the monkey's theatrics on their phones. The traveller patiently waited; he and his friends collected the money as and when the animal dropped it. Even though other tourists assisted the group, some notes still fell into the river. This incident took place near the Guna cave area in the Dindigul district. The place gained popularity from the Tamil movie 'Guna' and recently made headlines again with the release of 'Manjummel Boys.' Since being mentioned in the film, the place has witnessed a notable increase in the arrival of tourists. A similar incident took place in early June when a monkey stole diamonds worth Rs 20 lakh from Aligarh-based diamond merchant Abhishek Agarwal's handbag during their visit to the Thakur Banke Bihari temple in Vrindavan. On June 6, after Agarwal and his family offered their prayers and were leaving for home, the animal suddenly snatched the bags containing the valuables from his hands. The terrified businessman tried everything to get the monkey's attention. But after all else failed, he turned to the police for assistance. Fortunately for the Agarwal family, a senior police official reported that after eight hours of work, the cops managed to corner the monkey and retrieve the bag.
