Q: You have one more semester at Johnson & Wales. What are your plans after graduation?

I've been actively looking for the past few months for the right storefront to open my first brick and mortar in Mystic. For a long time, I had the typical dream of moving to Los Angeles or

What are some of your specialties?
Macarons. I love making French macarons, and they are some of the hardest cookies to make. I also focus on custom desserts, such as custom cakes and cupcakes. When I open my storefront, I want cake to be at the forefront.

What else would your bakery offer?
Other than a focus on custom cakes, I want a plethora of French macarons, cakes by the slice, or

Contestants on many Food Network shows, like 'Chopped,' have said how stressful it is to be under a tight time crunch and still produce excellent food. What was it like to be on 'Cookie Cupcake Cake?'
This is a very unpopular opinion, but I didn't feel any stress at all. When I was a kid, I was in my parent's kitchen, cooking and pretending like I was on a TV show. I'd prep, stare at a mark in the kitchen, and narrate what I was doing like I was on a show. It's like I manifested this. The hardest part was the unknown and the fact that I was the youngest one on the show. One of the contestants has had just as much experience baking as I've had years on this earth. That's intimidating.
What didn't we see on the show?
All the cookies were baked at home. And then I had to drive them 4.5 hours from Mystic, Conn., to Jersey City where we were filming. My cookies broke on the way there. My entire cookie crumbled. There was nothing I could do about it.

Also, if you didn't notice [or watch], the judges don't actually eat the cookies. So they could taste horrible, but it's all about presentation. It's very different from other cooking or baking competition shows.

Are you a baker or a cake designer? There's a difference.
I definitely consider myself a baker. I love art and being creative, but design isn't my sole focus. A lot of the contestants on the show worked with fondant and did a lot of hyper-realism, which I never do. I will make my creations aesthetically pleasing, but delicious to eat. I don't like when things are too sweet. If you watch 'Cake Boss,' a lot of the cakes on there use piping to hold everything together. You can't really eat everything. It should be edible art. Not just art. I'll always choose a basic-looking cupcake over a monstrosity-looking cake that Buddy would make for his show.

Wynne Evans engaged to girlfriend Liz Brookes following Strictly Come Dancing controversy

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has announced an engagement to his girlfriend Liz Brookes, after proposing during a holiday to Morocco last weekend. The Welsh opera singer, best known as the face of advertisements for price comparison company revealed the 'big news' on Instagram. Evans, 53, told his followers: 'Somewhere between the couscous, the camels, and me limping around the souks like a man with no spatial awareness, I proposed to Liz — and she said yes! (No take-backs, I've checked.)' Sharing a photo of himself down on one knee, Evans said of his future wife: 'She's clever, she's kind, she's got excellent taste in men. Absolutely no idea how I pulled that off, but here we are! Feeling very lucky, very happy, and just a tiny bit smug.' The news comes after Evans, who was previously the host of a BBC Radio Wales breakfast show, was dropped by the BBC after apologising for making 'inappropriate and unacceptable' remarks during the Strictly live tour launch last December. Evans' apology at the start of this year arrived months after his controversial time on the 2024 series of Strictly. During live one episode, he was spotted engaging in a 'silly inside joke' with his professional dance partner, Katya Jones, which saw her awkwardly remove his hand from her waist. In another moment, Jones was seen avoiding a high-five offered by Evans – but after rumours circulated of a behind-the-scenes feud, the pair told viewers it was part of 'a running joke'. While announcing the BBC had dropped him, Evans thanked his fans for their support, stating on Instagram: 'These past few months, your love has been the light in my darkest days. Every message, every word of encouragement, every moment you stood by me has carried me through more than you could ever know. 'And because you've given me so much, I need to tell you this. It breaks my heart to say the BBC has decided not to renew my contract. That show wasn't just work – it was home. It was us. We laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening. And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.' Brookes, 50, owns a successful events company in Cardiff, and met Evans at one of her business's parties in Wales. The opera singer asked Brookes out the following day and they have been together for the past 18 months. Evans was previously married to singer Tanwen Evans, 48, with whom he shares two children: Ismay and Taliesin. They divorced in 2016.

Roman Polanski's ‘An Officer and a Spy' to Play in U.S., Six Years After Venice Premiere

Roman Polanski's 'An Officer and a Spy' is finally getting a U.S. release, six years after premiering at the 2019 Venice Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize under Lucrecia Martel's jury. The film, which won four of its 12 César nominations including Best Director in 2020, is now set for a two-week limited engagement, starting August 8, at New York City's Film Forum. Film Forum isn't handling the release beyond showings at its own venue, IndieWire has learned, which were booked by 'An Officer and a Spy' producer Alain Goldman. News of the engagement was included deep into Film Forum's summer programming announcement that went out Monday, June 9 (and also highlighted by World of Reel). More from IndieWire 'Horsegirls' Review: The World's Most Unexpected Sport Provides a Clever Way Into This Very Personal Dramedy Chanel Returns to New York City for Its Star-Studded 18th Annual Tribeca Artists Dinner 'An Officer and a Spy' is led by Louis Garrel, who portrays French army Captain Alfred Dreyfus after his trial. The politically scandalous Dreyfus affair took place around the turn of the 19th century in France, with Dreyfus banished to Devil's Island after being found guilty of treason, accused of spreading military secrets to Germany. It was later discovered that the trial's verdict was decided upon, and with little evidence, due to Dreyfus' Jewish faith amid a climate of antisemitism in France. In the film, Jean Dujardin plays the French head of counter-espionage, Georges Picquart, who eventually helped reveal Dreyfus' innocence amid Picquart's own arrest and imprisonment for his views. The scandal was first depicted onscreen by Georges Méliès in 1899. Polanski's film comes with a personal bent: The Oscar-winning director, who has been accused and charged of various counts of sexual assault and has since exiled himself from Hollywood after numerous legal battles, distributed press notes before the premiere of 'An Officer and a Spy' at Venice, citing the parallels between his career and Dreyfus' legacy. 'I can see the same determination to deny the facts and condemn me for things I have not done,' Polanski wrote. 'My work is not therapy. However, I must admit that I am familiar with many of the workings of the apparatus of persecution shown in the film, and that has clearly inspired me.' 'An Officer and a Spy' went on to receive four nominations at the European Film Awards as well as its 12 César noms — the most that year at the French film honors — after a theatrical release in Europe. The film hasn't been seen in the U.S. until now. Polanski's last movie to receive a U.S. release was 2017's 'Based on a True Story.' Other assault allegations have followed the director since he sexually assaulted Samantha Geimer in 1977 when she was 13, leading North American distributors to distance themselves from his work. Geimer has since forgiven and even defended Polanski. 'An Officer and a Spy,' however, is not even Polanski's most recent movie. His 2023 'The Palace,' also a Venice Film Festival premiere, starred Mickey Rourke and John Cleese and garnered the kind of excorciating reviews for its eat-the-rich satire that all but guaranteed the film would never play in the U.S. It was a box-office bomb in Europe.
