Kyogo, 30, was a firm favourite among the Celtic fans during his glittering four-year stint between 2021 and 2025.
The Japan international bagged 85 goals in 165 games for the Parkhead club after moving to Glasgow from his homeland.
Kyogo's goals inspired Celtic to nine major honours, including the treble in 2023.
Many Hoops fans were gutted when the striker moved to France with Rennes in January in a bumper £10million deal.
His time in Ligue 1 was an absolute nightmare, however, and was restricted to just six appearances in which he failed to score.
After just six months, he moved on again last month, joining newly promoted Birmingham City in the English Championship.
While he couldn't score in the opening day 1-1 draw with Ipswich at the weekend - albeit had a splendid strike disallowed - he didn't take long to open his account.
Teammate Demarai Gray pounced on a horror defensive error just five minutes into last night's cup clash with Sheffield United, setting up the easiest of tap-ins for Kyogo who certainly wasn't going to pass up such a golden chance.
The prolific frontman's first goal for the club set them on their way to a 2-1 win as they sealed progression in the League Cup.
Seeing Kyogo scoring - and smiling again - had many Celtic fans feeling a hint of jealousy!
Ex-Celtic star goes wild as he does the huddle at Oasis gig with 70,000 fans
Birmingham posted: "Only two games in but you just know he's going to be a fan favourite."
And several Celtic fans responded.
One said: "Birmingham fans getting to experience him play for the first time is making me so jealous."
Another added: "Absolute baller."
A third posted: "Proud of him but heartbreaking also."
While another said: "We lived it, and we loved it."
Another post read: "I miss him already."
Another Hoops fan added: "Good to see him enjoying his football again."
Kyogo himself delivered a short message to the club's social media channels afterwards, saying: "I'm really happy to score my first goal, I will keep on running and helping the team by scoring many more goals.
"Keep right on."
As mentioned, Kyogo was very much in the thick of the action at St Andrew's in a busy opening period.
He was involved in a tussle with Sheffield United captain Jack Robinson at the corner flag - and it was an incident that left the Blades defender absolutely irate.
Robinson leaned on Kyogo's back, sending the striker off balance with the ball in play.
It struck Kyogo's foot and Robinson saw the ball out for a throw-in.
The two players' momentum took them to the advertising hoarding and Kyogo appeared to kick the ball away - whether it was deliberate or not, only he will know - and that did NOT impress Robinson.
The 31-year old remonstrated with the assistant referee before Kyogo bumped into him.
That left an already angry Robinson less than impressed, and the former Liverpool trainee put his hand on the striker, who then tumbled to the ground.
And it's fair to say the defender felt Kyogo had gone down all too easily.
The referee arrived on the scene, brandishing a yellow card to the defender who then unleashed an X-rated outburst towards the officials.
He could be heard blasting: "He f****** kicked the ball away!"
As the assistant referee then tries to calm Robinson down, he's met with a rather resounding "f*** off" from the Blades skipper.
Many fans reacting to the club on social media felt Kyogo himself was perhaps fortunate not to see a yellow card for his part in the incident!
One said: "Should have been a yellow for the dive and holding his face."
An annoyed Sheffield United fan blasted: "Embarrassing from the Birmingham player really."
Another said: "That's embarrassing."
While another fumed: "Should have been a yellow for kicking the ball away then another for the horrific dive."
Gustavo Hamer cancelled out Kyogo's strike in the second half before Jay Stansfield struck the Blues' winner three minutes from time.

Celtic fans demand ‘where can I get one?' as South American club release Hoops-inspired kit in homage to Parkhead side

Sharing the latest bit of gear, Sarmiento said in a social media post: "A t-shirt is more than fabric, it connects stories. "In 1968, Sarmiento used a design inspired by Celtic, the European champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "Today, we relaunch that t-shirt to celebrate the union and the Irish legacy in Junín." The launch video shows a man in the Hoops wielding bagpipes, while a voiceover says: "More than a century ago, the Irish community brought work, customs, and a colour that will stay with us forever. "In 1968, Sarmiento decided to wear the green and white jersey like Celtic, European Champions. A Scottish club with an Irish soul. "That shirt became history. Today we wear it again. "A tribute to the Irish community, to our city, to its roots, which are also part of our history." Also shown is a captain's armband in tricolours emblazoned with a shamrock. And some fans of a green and white persuasion are enamoured by this top, wondering how they can get their hands on one. Celtic linked with ANOTHER winger and is Balikwisha a DONE DEAL One wrote 'that's class', while another said it's 'better than what we have and a nice armband'. A fan commented 'I'd buy one of these' while others asked where to do so. But it seems that may not be an easy task, as the club has confirmed an initially limited sale. Sarmiento said: "A beauty. The first units of the new model will be on sale exclusively for members at our stand at the #ExpoJunín. Limited units. "The Sarmiento Athletic Club thanks everyone who made this production possible." One keen Hoops supporter replied in Spanish asking if it would be available for online purchase and delivery to Scotland, but the answer isn't yet known. Rodgers issues verdict on Kenny's Celtic display vs Falkirk
The Irish striker got the nod as his fellow countryman, Adam Idah, dropped to the bench. Kenny eventually played until the 62nd minute, when he was replaced by summer signing Shin Yamada. In his post-match press conference, Rodgers was directly asked about Kenny's performance in Celtic's 4-1 win: "I think he worked very hard," he replied. "He's an honest boy who gives his all in the game, and that's what the team's about. Read more: "[He] didn't have so many chances, a couple of good wee runs, didn't quite drop to him in the box, but I thought he worked very hard and then created the chance then for Shin Yamada to come on." Kenny didn't manage to get himself on the scoresheet. He was handed a new contract by Celtic last week, keeping him at the club until at least the summer of 2029. The Scottish Premiership champions also recently tied down Dane Murray to a new deal, with his now lasting until 2028. He scored in last night's win over Falkirk: "I think his ceiling's so high," said Rodgers of the central defender after the match. "There are areas of the game that he needs to clearly, obviously work on. "But he's 6'4", he's quick, he can take the ball. He has a comfort with the ball which aligns with top players and he just, again, concentration is something that's key for defenders. "But I really like him and that's hence the reason we've tied him down. And I think he's got a great future."
