
$1 million surprise for South Florida man playing Florida Lottery scratch-off game
A Miami man got a million-dollar prize surprise playing the
Florida Lottery
's 500X The Cash scratch-off game.
Randy Villalpando chose to receive his winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000.
Villalpando bought his winning ticket at El Palacio Supermarket, at 995 SW 5 Street in Miami. The store will receive a $2,000 bonus for selling it.
The $50 scratch-off game features more than $1.66 billion in cash prizes, including a top prize of $25 million - the largest ever offered in a Florida scratch-off game. The overall odds of winning a prize are about 1 in 4.
Scratch-off games made up about 74% of Florida Lottery ticket sales in its 2023-2024 fiscal year. They've generated nearly $19.80 billion for the state's Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The Florida Lottery has contributed more than $48 billion to enhance education and sent over a million students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program.

For the second time in four days, a single Florida Lottery jackpot was won by six players Wednesday. Also, it was the lone jackpot hit on a day of Florida Lotto, Powerball, Fantasy 5 and Cash4Life drawings. Powerball's top prize will be up to $44 million, and Florida Lotto's will be up to $6.75 million for Saturday's drawings after nobody hit those. But six people did hit a Fantasy 5 jackpot again. A jackpot-winning lottery ticket worth $875,000 was sold in South Florida
Of Tuesday's Florida Lottery-connected draw games — Jackpot Triple Play, Cash4Life, Mega Millions, Fantasy 5 — only one had a jackpot winner and it was worth $875,000. It wasn't Mega Millions, which will have a $223 million top prize for Friday's drawing. The good fortune fell on a Jackpot Triple Play winner, whose Quick Pick ticket bought at the Boca Raton Shell station at 5899 N. Federal Hwy. had 9, 10, 19, 20, 35 and 40. This ticket can be cashed at the Florida Lottery main office in Tallahassee or one of the Florida Lottery district offices. The West Palm Beach District Office is in Palm Springs, 4360 Forest Hill Blvd., and can be reached at WPBRC@ and 561-640-6190. Appointments aren't required, but can be made.
