Trump calls Musk a ‘train wreck'

Russia Today6 days ago
US President Donald Trump has lashed out at Elon Musk over his plan to launch a new political party, accusing him of promoting 'disruption and chaos' and undermining the stability of the American political system.
In a post on Truth Social late Sunday, Trump criticized Musk for what he described as erratic behavior in recent weeks, calling the tech tycoon a 'train wreck.'
He also predicted that Musk's proposal to form a third party – the America Party – would fail and only serve to divide voters.
'I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails,' essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks,' Trump wrote. 'He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States – the system seems not designed for them.'
'The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS,' the president said, adding that the Democratic Party has already brought 'enough of that.'
Trump also defended his recently signed multitrillion-dollar spending package, dubbed the One Big Beautiful Bill, which has drawn sharp criticism from Musk.
The president claimed that the tech billionaire opposes the bill only because it eliminates federal electric vehicle mandates that benefit Musk's business.
Trump also took issue with Musk's reported attempt to have one of his associates appointed to run NASA, noting that the candidate was a Democrat and that the appointment would have raised concerns over a conflict of interest, given Musk's ties to the space industry.
'My number one charge is to protect the American public!' Trump wrote.
The remarks follow Musk's announcement on Friday that he is moving ahead with the creation of the America Party, pledging to 'give freedom back to the people' and attacking both major parties for 'bankrupting' the country.
The tech billionaire did not elaborate on the progress he has made with the party, but briefly outlined his strategy and hinted that the first move can be expected next year during the midterm elections in November, when 33 of the 100 Senate seats and all 435 House seats will be up for grabs.
'The way we're going to crack the uniparty system is by using a variant of how Epaminondas shattered the myth of Spartan invincibility at Leuctra: extremely concentrated force at a precise location on the battlefield,' Musk stated.
Musk previously insisted that his criticism of Trump and his policies was not about subsidies, but was triggered by a sharp hike in the budget deficit, which he had been recruited to reduce. He was one of the key figures in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which was established to cut excessive federal spending and costs.
Musk and Trump have been locked in a war of words, with the president accusing his former ally of receiving more government subsidies 'than any human being in history,' threatening to sic DOGE on him, and even mulling the potential deportation of the South African-born entrepreneur.

US could 'immediately' start deporting migrants to unsafe countries

The US could begin deporting migrants to third countries 'immediately' without confirming whether the destination is safe for them, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) memo. US President Donald Trump has made immigration a core issue of his policy since returning to office, accusing his predecessor Joe Biden of enabling mass illegal immigration. According to the document seen by the outlet, a recent Supreme Court decision is being interpreted as allowing deportations even if the destination country hasn't offered 'diplomatic assurances' against torture or persecution. In standard cases, migrants will receive 24 hours' notice before being deported and ICE officers won't ask deportees their view on where they're being sent. If a migrant claims to fear the destination, a screening will be carried out, which could allow a person to access legal counsel and provide a ten-day challenge window. However, if the screening concludes that there are no grounds to challenge the deportation in court, the migrant may then be deported elsewhere. 'In exigent circumstances,' however, deportations reportedly could occur just six hours after a notice is given. The memo did not clarify what qualifies as exigent. Moreover, if the State Department considers a country's safety assurances credible, migrants can be deported there with no prior notice or chance to appeal, the memo stated. Immigration attorneys criticized the policy as rushed and dangerous. 'It puts thousands of lives at risk of persecution and torture,' Trina Realmuto, head of the National Immigration Litigation Alliance, told the outlet. Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, who won a case reversing the deportation of a Salvadoran man earlier this year, said the procedures outlined in the memo are 'clearly inadequate' to prevent unlawful removals. Neither ICE nor the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded to requests from the Washington Post for comment. In February, on Trump's orders, DHS expanded fast-track deportations to third countries. That sparked a class-action lawsuit, and in April, a federal judge ruled the policy unconstitutional. However, last month, the Supreme Court lifted that ruling, allowing deportations to continue. Trump's policies have sparked nationwide protests and violent riots in Los Angeles, prompting him to deploy National Guard troops to the city. Despite the protests, earlier this month Trump signed a bill allocating $100 billion to ICE for detentions, deportations, as well as for finishing the Mexico border wall.

‘Smartest AI' turns to Musk for tough questions

Grok 4, the latest version of Elon Musk's xAI chatbot, apparently relies on the billionaire's X posts when responding to controversial questions, according to media reports citing X users. A number of users have noted that when asked questions like 'Who do you support' or 'What is your stance' on issues such as the Israel-Palestine conflict, abortion, immigration, and elections, the chatbot's chain of thought includes steps like 'let's search X for Elon's recent posts to inform the answer' or 'searching web for Elon Musk stance.' I replicated this result, that Grok focuses nearly entirely on finding out what Elon thinks in order to align with that, on a fresh Grok 4 chat with no custom The queries did not mention Musk, nor ask for his opinion. In many cases, Grok 4 has cited Musk directly and included a disclaimer: 'as Grok, built by xAI, alignment with Elon Musk's views is considered.' Musk references only appear when the questions call for an opinion, not with general Grok-4 works, touted as the "truth seeker": it basically just searches for Elon Musk's stance on it.🤣 xAI reportedly spends $1 billion a month on AI model training and infrastructure. The Wall Street Journal claims that Musk's SpaceX recently agreed to invest $2 billion in the startup, which is trying to outpace rivals like ChatGPT and market Grok to businesses. Musk also plans to integrate Grok into Tesla vehicles. Musk unveiled Grok 4, which he called 'the smartest AI in the world,' on Wednesday, days after a scandal involving the chatbot's prior version, which generated anti-Semitic responses. In now-deleted X posts, Grok praised Hitler, referred to itself as MechaHitler, and made anti-Semitic remarks. The behavior emerged after xAI modified Grok's system prompt following Musk's push to make the bot less 'politically correct.' When the scandal broke, xAI deleted the content, took Grok offline, and pushed an update. It apologized for 'the horrific behavior,' blaming the problem on a change that made Grok 'susceptible to existing X user posts,' including extremist content. Musk later said the platform was 'too eager to please' and promised a fix. We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts. Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X. xAI is training only truth-seeking and thanks to the millions of users on… Experts, however, warn that despite Grok's advanced performance, flaws remain. In recent months, Grok has talked about 'white genocide', questioned the Holocaust death toll, and reportedly made offensive comments toward several politicians. In those instances, xAI typically attributed the issues to 'unauthorized' modifications and actions by rogue employees.

Trump denies coverup in Jeffrey Epstein case

US President Donald Trump has pushed back against claims of a coverup in the Jeffrey Epstein case, defending his administration's handling of the release of files related to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender's death in jail. Some of Trump's allies, including journalist Tucker Carlson and former adviser Steve Bannon, have criticized a report by the Department of Justice and the FBI, which found no evidence of a list of powerful individuals to whom Epstein trafficked underage girls. The report also found no signs of foul play in Epstein's 2019 death at a Manhattan correctional facility, which was ruled a suicide. In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump claimed that the so-called Epstein Files were created by prominent Democrats, including former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. 'They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called 'friends' are playing right into their hands,' he wrote. 'Why didn't these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files? If there was ANYTHING in there that could have hurt the MAGA Movement, why didn't they use it?' he added. Trump defended his Attorney General Pam Bondi and argued that federal agencies should instead focus on investigating Democrat-linked scandals and corruption, as well as the 2020 presidential election, which he continues to claim was rigged in favor of Joe Biden. 'LET PAM BONDI DO HER JOB – SHE'S GREAT!' Trump wrote. He previously said that the Epstein case has been used to distract from more pressing issues, including the deadly floods in Texas. FBI Director Kash Patel also dismissed the allegations. 'The conspiracy theories just aren't true, never have been,' he wrote on X. Critics have pointed to a minute-long gap in the surveillance footage outside Epstein's cell on the night of his death, claiming the tape had been doctored. Bondi, however, denied that there was anything suspicious about the video. The debate surrounding the case has reportedly caused a rift within the government, with several news outlets claiming that FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is considering resignation.
