UN Chief Hails Youth Leadership on Int'l Youth Day
UN Secretary-General António Guterres marked International Youth Day with a tribute to the 'determination, creativity and leadership' of young people, urging global support for youth-led solutions to today's most pressing challenges.
In his message, Guterres highlighted this year's theme — Local Youth Action for the SDGs and Beyond — as a reminder that 'global progress begins in communities,' and praised young people around the world for driving sustainable development, fostering peace, and advocating for a fairer, greener future.
'Young people are bold innovators, resilient organizers, and essential partners in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals,' he said, noting that 2025 also marks a renewed commitment to the World Programme of Action for Youth.
The Secretary-General called on all stakeholders to recognize the role of youth in building inclusive and just societies. 'To every young person: your voice, ideas and leadership matter,' he affirmed, stressing the importance of working 'from the ground up' to create a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world.

US Suspends Visitor Visas for Individuals from Gaza
Israa Farhan The United States announced on Saturday the suspension of all visitor visas for individuals arriving from Gaza. The US State Department posted on X that all visitor visas for people from Gaza have been halted. The department added that the decision comes amid a full and comprehensive review of the processes and procedures used to issue a limited number of visas for medical and humanitarian purposes in recent days. According to an analysis of monthly figures published on the US State Department website, more than 3,800 B1 and B2 visitor visas, which allow foreigners to receive medical treatment in the US, were issued to holders of travel documents from the Palestinian Authority. Reuters reported that this included 640 visas issued in May. The move follows remarks on social media by far-right activist Laura Loomer, an ally of former President Donald Trump, on Friday. The decision comes as Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis. The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights reported on Friday that at least 1,760 Palestinians were killed while waiting for aid in Gaza in late May. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
