Metro… In Dino's melody hits the right notes, but KK's absence echoes loudly

India Today08-07-2025
If you've ever played 'Alvida' from 'Life in a... Metro' on a loop after a breakup, you'll know what I mean when I say 'Metro... In Dino' feels incomplete. The music is lovely, the singers are talented, but something is missing: KK.The soundtrack of the film is emotional and blends well with the story. The songs feel like another character, just like they did in the first film. But during some of the most important moments, I couldn't help but wish KK's voice was there. You know what it was about KK's music that felt personal and real? It felt like he knew you. Like he'd been through the same heartaches, the same quiet moments when you didn't have the words, but he did. His voice didn't just sing, it stayed with you. Whether you were lying awake at night, missing someone, or staring out of a window on a long bus ride, somehow KK was there, saying, 'Yeah, I get it.' advertisementSpoiler alert:
In the scene when Fatima Sana Shaikh's Shruti decides to have an abortion - in quite a gut-wrenching, raw, painful, and massive turning point for her character - the music builds up, trying to shoulder the weight of it all, but without KK's soulful voice, it just doesn't land the same. His voice had that rare ability to make you feel everything, to make sadness sound beautiful. Remember 'Alvida' from the prequel? Remember how it made you feel, when you lost someone special in your life? You felt the pain, you cried when the note hit just right. You entered a world you didn't know how to come back from. That's how KK made us all feel.Another moment in the film which makes you realise the void after KK's death comes when Chumki (Sara Ali Khan) is struggling with her anger and confusion. She wants to scream, but she can't. When she finally does, Arijit Singh and Papon's voices rise in the background. It sounds nice, no doubt. But for those of us who grew up listening to KK, it feels like a part of the emotion is missing. His voice had a way of expressing pain, love, and loss - all at once.To be fair, the film honours its legacy. The songs aren't forced; they ebb and flow with the narrative, becoming another character, like in the original. It's nostalgic, it's fitting, and for new audiences, it probably checks every box. But for those of us who built our playlists around 'Life in a Metro', who learned to spell heartbreak with KK on repeat, there's a missing piece that no melody can quite patch up. Songs like 'Alvida' or 'O Meri Jaan' stayed with you long after the film ended. 'Metro... In Dino' hits the right emotional chords. But the most important string, the one only KK could pluck, remains heartbreakingly silent. And honestly? Some silences are louder than words.- EndsTrending Reel

Fatima Sana Shaikh Poses With Tamannaah Bhatia Amid Vijay Varma Dating Buzz

Last Updated: Fatima Sana Shaikh is thriving with Metro... In Dino and Aap Jaisa Koi. She posed with Tamannaah Bhatia amid rumours of dating her ex-boyfriend Vijay Varma. Fatima Sana Shaikh is basking in the glory of her two back-to-back releases — Anurag Basu's Metro… In Dino and Aap Jaisa Koi alongside R Madhavan. Apart from her work diaries, the actor's dating rumours with Gustakh Ishq co-star, Vijay Varma, have also been circulating online. Both Fatima and Vijay have chosen to stay silent on the matter. Amid this, Fatima shared multiple photos from India Couture Week, many of which featured Tamannaah Bhatia, Vijay's ex-girlfriend. 'Starting night with your stunning show, which was more like a party and then ending with stuffing my mouth with 2 plates of Rabdi this is what i call a perfect night," wrote Fatima Sana Shaikh, lauding fashion designer Manish Malhotra for India Couture Week. For the unversed, he is also producing Fatima and Sana's Gustakh Ishq. Some of the photos posted by the Chachi 420 actor featured Tamannaah Bhatia, rooting for Manish. Yet another photo in the carousel comprised of Fatima posing in the middle with Tamannaah and Shalini Passi on either sides. Take a look: Recent rumours have been swirling around actor Vijay Varma's love life once again. His dating speculations with Fatima began after the duo was spotted by paparazzi outside a Mumbai café, where they were seen laughing and sharing a warm hug — moments that quickly went viral on social media. The candid interaction has left fans curious about their equation, with many wondering if there's more than just friendship between them. While neither Vijay nor Fatima has addressed the dating rumours, social media is abuzz with assumptions that a new romance might be blossoming. Interestingly, the two actors are currently working together in an upcoming film titled Gustaakh Ishq, directed by Vibhu Puri. The film also stars veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah and The Family Man fame Sharib Hashmi in key roles. Notably, Gustaakh Ishq marks the third production venture under Manish Malhotra's Stage 5 Production, launched in September 2023. Before the rumours with Fatima, Vijay was in a well-documented relationship with Tamannaah Bhatia. The two featured together in Sujoy Ghosh's segment of Netflix's Lust Stories 2, which premiered in June 2023. Tamannaah confirmed their relationship around the same time in an interview with Film Companion, putting months of speculation to rest. However, the couple reportedly went their separate ways in March this year. A source told Pinkvilla that while they had broken up, their split was amicable. 'Tamannaah Bhatia and Vijay Varma parted ways weeks ago as a couple, but they plan to remain good friends. Both have been working hard in their respective schedules," the source shared. Later, Siasat Daily reported that the breakup was due to mounting pressure on Tamannaah to settle down. According to the outlet, the actress, now in her mid-30s, was ready for marriage and growing increasingly impatient, which allegedly led to frequent disagreements. However, News18 could not independently verify these claims. As for Vijay and Fatima, fans are keeping a close eye on what unfolds — both on and off the screen.
