JI announces march towards US embassy over Gaza aggression

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman on Sunday announced the suspension of the party's routine activities to focus on a series of nationwide protests in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Hafiz Naeem said, 'Jamaat-e-Islami is suspending all normal activities from today.'
He outlined a protest calendar, beginning with countrywide demonstrations on Friday, April 11. 'On April 13, we will hold a Palestine March in Karachi, and on April 20, we will march towards the US embassy in Islamabad,' he added.
Hafiz Naeem said a delegation of Pakistani parliamentarians would reach out to Muslim-majority countries including Türkiye, Iran, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt to push for breaking the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
'There is a graveyard-like silence on the issue of Palestine across the world,' he said. 'The mask has fallen off the faces of the US, UK, and Europe — the West is just as barbaric today as it was during the Dark Ages.'
Hafiz Naeem also criticised the inaction of Muslim countries. 'Muslim nations have wrapped themselves in a blanket of apathy. If they had shown some honour, perhaps the atrocities in Gaza wouldn't have happened,' he said.
He concluded by reaffirming JI's commitment to advocating for Palestinian rights. 'We will raise this issue with the government. Even when we last spoke with the prime minister, we called attention to the massacre in Gaza,' he said.

The US-German summit at the Trump's Oval Office was the first since Merz's election as the German Chancellor on May 6. Their talks covered a range of topics, including the wars in Europe, South Asia and the Middle East, besides the US-China trade issue and bilateral matters, according to media reports. During the meeting Trump insisted that the reduction in tension was possible because of his efforts and cooperation with the leaders of India and Pakistan. He praised the Indian and Pakistani leaderships and stressed that in the event of a nuclear conflict, the entire world could have been in danger. Taking pride in his role as the peacemaker, Trump regretted that he did not get the recognition he deserved for this important diplomatic achievement. "No one else could have done it," he said, referring to the ceasefire he had announced on May 10, and later confirmed by both the countries. Tensions between India and Pakistan reached a boiling point after an attack in the Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22, which killed 26 people. India swiftly blamed Pakistan, but did not present any evidence. However, the situation escalated as missile strikes and air raids rocked both nations, resulting in dozens of casualties between May 7 and 10. Trump said his diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation involved intense talks with both sides. "Pakistan has very strong leadership. Some people won't like when I say that, but it is what it is," Trump said. "I spoke to very talented people on both sides," he added. "They stopped that war. I was very proud of that."

PM, Field Marshal perform Umrah
JEDDAH: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have performed Umrah along with members of the Pakistani delegation during their ongoing official visit to Saudi Arabia. During the Umrah pilgrimage, special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, the unity of the Muslim Ummah, and for the oppressed people of Gaza. Upon arrival in Jeddah, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was warmly received by Prince Saud bin Abdullah Al Jiluwi, Governor of Jeddah; Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan; Ahmed Farooq, Pakistan's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and other diplomatic officials. The Prime Minister's visit is scheduled for June 5 and 6, and he is spending Eid-ul-Azha in Saudi Arabia. A special meeting will be held between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. During the meeting, both leaders will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in key areas including trade and investment, welfare of the Muslim Ummah, and regional peace and security. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will also thank the Saudi leadership for their constructive role in easing the recent Pakistan-India tensions.
