Jhon Duran 'could leave Al-Nassr on loan' less than five months after £65m move from Aston Villa - as 'personal issues' for striker are revealed

Jhon Duran's future in Saudi Arabia is reportedly in doubt amid concerns about his mental wellbeing.
Al-Nassr could look to loan out the 21-year-old because of personal problems which have impacted his 'mental state and technical ability,' according to a report in Saudi Arabia.
The striker only joined Al-Nassr in January in a £64.5million move from Aston Villa which underlined the growing magnetism of the Gulf State's top clubs.
Saudi Arabia had been considered a swansong destination for older players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, but here Al-Nassr had attracted one of Europe's most dazzling young strikers.
After scoring 12 in the first half of the season for Villa, he has added another dozen in his 18-game stint with Al-Nassr as they raced to third in the Saudi Pro League.
But a report by Arriyadiyah claims 'doubts are swirling' over his future with the club due to the issues in his personal life. Multiple suitors are said to be interested.
It is not clear what those problems are.
When Duran joined Al-Nassr, he told them that he wished to live in Bahrain rather than Saudi Arabia, according to the Sun.
Duran wanted to ensure he could live with his girlfriend, Angela Capella, with whom he would be banned from living due to Islamic law in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi's laws strictly prohibit 'cohabitation without a marriage contract,' though Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are apparently exempt.
Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson both lived in Bahrain, which is more liberal, during their stint with Al-Ettifaq.
However, Duran's insistence on living in the more liberal state - if indeed it has come to fruition - leaves him with a 600-mile round trip commute to Riyadh. That would entail an 80-minute plane ride each way.
Al-Nassr shot down claims of any such daily odyssey, claiming: 'We all heard about what's called 'fake news', but this is an obnoxiously funny fake news!
'We are happy that our club matters this much. Jhon loves Riyadh and his house is near the club and the stadium. He is our new family member.'
On his unveiling in the club's yellow strip, the Colombian said: 'I grew up watching Al-Nassr. I've always wanted to play for them.'
The club, managed by Stefano Pioli, missed out on the title yet again after finishing 13 points behind champions Al-Ittihad.
Ronaldo recently confirmed that he intends to stay and fight for silverware despite reports that he was going to leave.
FIFA preisdent Gianni Infantino had bizarrely fanned speculation that Ronaldo would be playing in the Club World Cup - a competition Al-Nassr are not part of this year - but the Portuguese said: 'Future? It won't change anything. Al-Nassr, yes.'

Wrexham star caused dad to have Cristiano Ronaldo incident – 'He wasn't pleased'

The father of Wrexham's star midfielder once had an awkward encounter with Cristiano Ronaldo in a corridor, angering the star with a request which didn't go down well The dad of one of Wrexham 's star players once landed himself in hot water with Cristiano Ronaldo after his son asked him for a favour. Mick Rathbone, father of Red Dragons midfielder Ollie Rathbone, spent eight years working as a physio at Everton between 2002 and 2010. The former Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City defender would often bring his football-mad son to work, where Toffees favourites like Wayne Rooney and Duncan Ferguson kindly took him under their wing. However, it was one of their opponents who Ollie was most starstruck by as a youngster - Manchester United legend Ronaldo. ‌ Mick revealed how it led to a very awkward encounter with the Portuguese forward in a corridor after a match between Everton and United. The incident, which left Ronaldo distinctly unimpressed, occurred after Ollie tasked his dad with getting his shirt signed by his idol. ‌ Recounting the episode in his book, The Smell of Football, Mick said: "Sometimes, I must admit, when surrounded by these superstars, I just wanted to grab a pen and piece of paper and get their autographs, but this was frowned upon as being totally uncool. "A few years ago, however, when we played United, Ollie begged me to get Cristiano Ronaldo's autograph on his brand new Portugal shirt that he had just received for his birthday. I really didn't like to ask and did feel a bit of an anorak, but you know what it's like - you will do anything for your kids, won't you? "I kept my eyes open after the game to try and catch sight of Ronaldo passing the medical room. Eventually, I saw him and stepped into the busy passageway, clutching the shirt. I was in my full Everton regalia, so I didn't feel too much of an intruder. "'Excuse me, Cristiano, could you please sign this for my son?' He didn't look too pleased, but grabbed the shirt and the pen without looking up or acknowledging my existence, and started scribbling. 'Can you write, 'To Oliver, happy birthday' on it please Cristiano?' He still didn't look up but just kept scribbling. "'It's O-L-I-V…' I didn't get any further. He just threw the shirt back in my face where, due to the phenomenon that is static electricity, it stuck. He then walked away, leaving me with the shirt on my head." ‌ Mick added: "There were a couple of the Everton press guys in the corridor that day who saw it all, and we absolutely p***ed ourselves laughing for the next 10 minutes. Never again." Ollie got a taste of life at United for himself as a youngster after coming up through the club's academy at the same time as the likes of Marcus Rashford. The 28-year-old spent eight years with the Red Devils before joining Rochdale in 2016 due to a lack of first-team opportunities. ‌ He later signed for Rotherham, where he enjoyed a three-year stint, until moving to Wrexham for £500,000 last summer. Ollie impressed in his first campaign with the club owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, helping Phil Parkinson's side to achieve promotion from League One. He was also named as the club's player of the season after scoring eight goals in 41 league games. Mick has expressed his delight at Ollie's achievements at Wrexham after aiding them in reaching the Championship for the first time in 43 years. ‌ "I'm proud of Ollie; all the family are, but I'd be just as proud of him if he served me a coffee," Mick told The Leader after becoming a regular at the Racecourse Ground this season. "We love the atmosphere at home games and Ollie's enjoyed it at Wrexham; he says it's a fantastic club. "He got a knock on the ankle early on in the season and had to work hard to get into the side, but once he did you knew he was going to give his all to remain there. He's consistent, got a great work-rate and he'll give you everything - and fans appreciate that. "Supporters pay their hard-earned cash and if they see players giving it their all, they'll like you. I was a bit like that in my playing days at Blackburn as giving 100 per cent every game is the minimum requirement for a footballer, whether you're playing for Barcelona or the Dog and Duck." Football transfer rumours: Garnacho off to Villa? Spurs in for Mbeumo?

Alejandro Garnacho will be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer if the price is right. One surprising potential suitor is Aston Villa, who could make a move for the winger. They took Marcus Rashford on loan from Old Trafford last season, revitalising his career somewhat in the progress, so Garnacho might feel it is a move in the right direction away from the current dead end. It will be a busy summer at United as Ruben Amorim attempts to assemble a squad that has the vague chance of fitting into his 3-4-3 constraints. One key area where improvement is required is centre forward. A potential plan to source an actual goalscorer could see United offer up Joshua Zirkzee to Napoli as part of a deal for Victor Osimhen. There could, however, be some very serious competition for the Nigerian as Liverpool might also fancy a nibble. Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike is another shortlisted name at United. The Frenchman scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga last season and, at 22 years old, could be getting better for years to come. If anyone does want to sign Ekitike, it will cost them €100m. 'If the price isn't right, then he'll just stay with us. We don't have to sell Hugo,' said the Frankfurt CEO Markus Krösche. Bayer Leverkusen and Erik ten Hag continue to sniff around the vicinity of the Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah. The 22-year-old defender struggled for regular minutes under Arne Slot last season but the homegrown centre-back is still valued at £40m around Anfield. Thomas Frank is now officially the new Tottenham head coach. When a manager moves from one club to another, there is always a few rumours that he will take some of his favourites from his previous employer with him. In Frank's case Bryan Mbeumo has already been heavily touted as someone of interest, while the midfielder Christian Nørgaard could be another name the new boss will whisper into Daniel Levy's ear, having word with his compatriot at Brondby too. Everton, Fulham and Bournemouth are also rumoured to be keen. Milan have gone on the blower to Arsenal to ascertain the availability of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior. If the pair do leave, it could prompt Mikel Arteta to firm up his interest in the Ajax defender Jorrel Hato but Chelsea are also interested. After impressing in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers, Hamza Igamane has gained a couple of admirers south of the border. West Ham and Brentford are somewhat eager to pursue a deal for the 22-year-old Moroccan, who netted 16 times last season. Leeds United are back in the big time and they want to bring the Udinese defender Jaka Bijol with them to the Premier League. The 26-year-old Slovenian, who has already amassed 63 caps for this country, is valued in the region of £15m. Crystal Palace, alongside relegated duo Leicester and Southampton are interested in the Greek international who could cost in the region of £17m.

Grim government warning for Aussies to steer clear of Middle East warzone amid fears of a nuclear apocalypse

The Australian government has issued a chilling new warning for Aussies headed to Israel after it launched its raid on Iran and the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Lebanon. In a statement published on Friday on the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's (DFAT) Smart Traveller website, officials advised people to rethink their travel plans. 'Reconsider your need to travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories overall due to the volatile security situation, armed conflict, civil unrest and terrorism,' it warned. Former Australian Ambassador to Israel, Liberal senator Dave Sharma backed the upgraded official warning in light of the latest attacks. 'I'd urge all Australians to pay close attention and heed the updated travel advice,' he told Daily Mail Australia. The updated travel alert follows the pre-emptive Israeli strike on Iran, targeting military and nuclear facilities, amid claims Iran was just days away from developing nuclear weapons. Israel's military says it had killed three top Iranian military leaders in an overnight operation. Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has vowed retaliation, warning Israel it 'must expect severe punishment'. In response, Israel has declared a national state of emergency. Defence Minister Israel Katz warned Israeli citizens to brace for potential drone and missile attacks from Iran 'in the immediate future.' Schools and most workplaces across Israel were ordered shut on Friday. DFAT reiterated its advice on Friday afternoon. 'We continue to advise reconsider your need to travel to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories overall due to the volatile security situation, armed conflict, civil unrest and terrorism,' the alert read. 'We continue to advise do not travel to Gaza and areas near the border with Gaza, border areas with Lebanon and the West Bank (excluding East Jerusalem). 'If you're in Israel, you should reconsider whether you need to remain and, if not, depart when it's safe to do so.' Smart Traveller also warned of ongoing threats, including missile and rocket fire in parts of Israel, and urged Australians not to travel to border areas with Lebanon. 'In an attack or other armed conflict, you should take shelter, follow the advice of local authorities and monitor local media and public safety information updates through the National Emergency Portal (accessible in Israel only),' the alert said. 'Terror attacks can occur anywhere at any time, including by lone actors. Be alert to personal safety risks. 'There continues to be a high threat of military and terrorist attacks against Israel and Israeli interests across the region. The security situation could deteriorate quickly, with little or no notice. 'This has resulted and may continue to result in airspace closures, flight cancellations, diversions, and other travel disruptions.' Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong has called for calm, over fears tensions will boil over. 'Australia is alarmed by the escalation between Israel and Iran,' Wong said. 'This risks further destabilising a region that is already volatile. 'We call on all parties to refrain from actions and rhetoric that would further exacerbate tensions. We all understand the need, the threat of Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile program. 'It represents a threat to international peace and security and we urge the parties to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy.' Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Michaelia Cash echoed Wong's comments, saying the Coalition was 'concerned'. She urged all Australians in the region to follow official advice. 'We expect the Government to prioritise the safety of Australian personnel and their families,' Cash said. Cash also called on Iran to stop funding terror groups. 'We also call on Iran to stop its sponsorship of terrorism, including backing Hamas and Hezbollah,' she said. 'Iran must also guarantee that it will not pursue or acquire nuclear weapons.' Israel's ambassador to Australia, Amir Maimon, said the latest military action against Iran is aimed at halting the regime's advancing nuclear ambitions. 'A nuclear-armed Iran poses an existential threat to the State of Israel and a grave danger to regional and global stability,' Maimon said. Maimon warned that Iran's actions and intentions go far beyond its borders. 'The regime's expansionist ideology, its support for terrorist proxies across the Middle East and its growing arsenal of long-range missiles demand urgent action.' Late Friday afternoon Israeli military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Deffrin revealed new details about the attack. He said that some 200 Israeli fighter jets had participated in the operation, striking around 100 targets. Deffrin said the attacks would continue.
