Ban on cow slaughter demanded
Addressing the media at Maatrurupini Seva Mandiram in Rajamahendravaram on Monday, Haribabu warned that he would launch an indefinite hunger strike if the government fails to issue an official response by July 10.
Haribabu, who has been on a relay hunger strike for the past seven days, appealed to the government to immediately issue orders banning cow slaughter and take strict measures to prevent the illegal transportation of cows to slaughterhouses.
He urged the authorities to establish shelters for cows to ensure their safety. He expressed anguish over the inhumane treatment of cows being packed into trucks and taken to slaughterhouses, resulting in severe injuries. 'Many cows suffer broken legs and are left in a helpless state,' he said. Suggesting a practical solution, Haribabu proposed that each district be allotted 30 acres of barren land for grazing and feeding cows.
He suggested the need to link these shelters with veterinary hospitals to provide timely medical care. 'Cows are revered and worshipped, yet we lack seriousness in protecting them,' he lamented. Haribabu also called upon Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who recently spoke about Sanatana Dharma, to take a stand on cow protection. He said that with Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister, implementing a cow slaughter ban across the country is possible and should be prioritised. Haribabu further demanded that the state government include cow and bull symbols in its official emblem.
Raising another critical issue, Haribabu urged the government to safeguard Hindu temple properties and reclaim those that have been encroached upon. He called for the enactment of strict laws to punish those involved in attacks on temples or assaults on priests and temple staff.
He said that he had sent letters outlining these demands to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and other ministers four months ago, but there has been no response. That is why he began the relay hunger strike on June 30, he explained.
Desireddy Balarama Naidu, CH Krishna Shastri, Sripada Subrahmanyam, and other prominent figures were present at the meeting.

Dhar admn seals Imambada, hands it over to PWD
Mhow: Dhar district administration sealed an Imambada on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday after getting it vacated and later handed it over to Public Works Department (PWD). A heavy police force was deployed in the town to prevent any untoward incident while the Imambada was being vacated and sealed. The Imambada, operated from a section of PWD building in Hatwara area of the town, had been under the possession of Tajiya committee for decades. Hindu organisations had contested that it was a govt-owned building meant for running cultural activities and should be available for all communities. The Tajiya committee argued that permission was granted for storing Tajiyas (tableaux). The action was taken following a complaint filed at the Dhar SDM court. The SDM court had ordered for the vacation of the premises. Challenging the order, the Tajiya committee had filed an appeal in Commissioner's revenue court, which also maintained the SDM court's order on Tuesday. Dhar SP Manoj Kumar Singh told TOI, "On the orders of the SDM court, the portion was vacated and handed over to PWD. Looking at the issue, additional police force was deployed in the area as well as the whole town to ensure that nothing untoward takes place. As far as the situation in Dhar is concerned, it is peaceful and fully under control, and the force will remain there round the clock." Abdul Samad, Sadar (head) of Muslim community, said that he was unaware of the action but claimed that a petition in this regard was filed in the Supreme Court. Capt. Chowta urges Karnataka government not to impose unreasonable restrictions on Hindu festivities
Capt. Brijesh Chowta, Dakshina Kannada MP, on Wednesday urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah not to hurt sentiments of Hindus by imposing unreasonable restrictions on festivities through the police. In a statement from New Delhi, Capt. Chowta alleged that the state government was using the police to hurt HIndu sentiments. Referring to recent guidelines by the Mangaluru city and the Dakshina Kannada district police which, among other things, restricted the use of DJ system, holding festivities beyond 10 p.m. etc., the MP said several socio-cultural-religious programmes take place throughout the year in Tulunadu. However, the Mangaluru police booking a case against the organisers and seizing the sound system at a Mosaru Kudike celebration in Kavoor, was deplorable, the MP said. When people were celebrating festivals with great fervour, the police interruptions were not good. During the erstwhile BJP rule too, there were restrictions on the use of loudspeakers; yet the police did not interfere in the celebrations, he noted. Now it appears that the government has given specific instructions to the police to disturb Hindu festivities, he alleged. Owners of sound systems were contemplating not to use loudspeakers in any public function after the police booked one of them in Kavoor. The restrictions would adversely affect people engaged in the business. Capt. Chowta noted that elected representatives of the region had raised the issue before Home Minister G. Parameshwara during his recent visit to Mangaluru. However, the Minister did not resolve the issue then. If the government continues to meddle with Hindu sentiments, it would be held responsible for any consequences, the MP cautioned. The Kavoor police on August 16 booked the organisers and sound system owners at the Mosaru Kudike celebrations at Panjimogaru for using DJ system and obstructing traffic movement on a public road.

Centre okays renaming of UP's Jalalabad town as Parshurampuri
Bareilly: Ministry of home affairs (MHA) has given the nod for renaming Jalalabad town in UP's Shahjahanpur district as "Parshurampuri". According to Hindu mythology, Jalalabad is believed to be the birthplace of Bhagwan Parshuram, the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu. The area is home to several ancient temples and sites of religious significance. According to sources, MHA had received a letter from UP chief secretary requesting it to approve the proposal to change the name of the town. In the notification, which came to fore on Wednesday, it was mentioned: "Following a letter from Uttar Pradesh govt dated June 27, 2025, and a recommendation from the ministry of science and technology on Aug 14, 2025, govt of India approved the name change and had no objection. Uttar Pradesh govt has been requested to issue the official Gazette notification in Hindi, English and regional languages, with copies sent to relevant departments for record and implementation.
