Danny O'Donoghue reveals bizarre reason The Script almost MISSED their Glastonbury spot
THE SCRIPT played all their hits when they returned to Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage for the first time in 16 years – but they almost didn't make it at all.
Sitting down with Bizarre before their set on Saturday, frontman Danny O'Donoghue admitted he'd been on a speedboat ride in Cardiff the day before, which left him battered and bruised.

He explained: 'It was kick-ass.
'For about two hours, I think they were trying their best to get us to crash and not show up to Glastonbury.
'My knees are in bits.
'He was trying to do doughnuts and then coming back out.

'Now, coming back, the stage looks quite small.
'But that's what 17 years of touring will do for you.'
But their focus is on a follow-up to 2024's album Satellites. Danny said: 'We're doing a show in August then heading to the States to work with the writers from The Man Who Can't Be Moved and Hall of Fame and pretty much everything we've written.'
There was a five-year gap between their last two albums but I don't think we'll have such a wait this time around.

SIR ROD STEWART lived up to his legends billing by overcoming a bout of flu and delivering an awesome set on Sunday afternoon.
Rod worked his way through hit after hit after cutting his current 28-song tour list down by eight.
He was desperate to fit in as many tracks as possible and made every break sparse when speaking to the crowd and made it clear he was just there to give his fans what they wanted — with shouts of 'next' every time he wanted to hurry the set along.

Those who've not been lucky enough to catch him on tour yet got to taste the full force of his band - with his brilliant saxophonist stealing the show alongside Rod's six brilliant female singers and string players.
The affection and appreciation for Rod feels for his band spilled into my exclusive chat ahead of his set and on stage he made sure this set was just as much theirs as it was his.

The rapper's West Holts session on Saturday served as an introduction to all the fans who have found her this year, thanks to hits Anxiety and Denial Is A River.
The US star peppered her set with snippets of the Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Missy Elliott and even Daft Punk.

Inside Aidan O'Brien's life beyond horse racing with wife and children including trainer son Joseph
AIDAN O'Brien marked his latest career milestone over the weekend as Lambourn became the 20th horse to complete the Anglo-Irish double . Aidan, 55, was joined in the celebratory scenes at the Curragh's winners enclosure by wife Ann-Marie. 3 Celebrating Saturday's victory in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby with wife Anne-Marie Credit: Inpho 3 Saturday's success was the 17th time he's trained an Irish Derby winner Credit: PA 3 Son Joseph, 32, is a rising star as a trainer Credit: Getty Here, SunSport delves into his life beyond the race track with Ann-Marie and their four children. WHERE IS AIDAN O'BRIEN FROM? The Ballydoyle handler hails from County Wexford though his yard is actually located in Tipperary near Rosegreen. It is owned by John Magnier and Coolmore Stud. He was born on October 16 1969 as one of six kids. His dad Denis was involved in the racing industry but only as a small-time trainer with his day job being farming. Aidan went to secondary school at New Ross' Good Counsel College. Interestingly, he's been a proud pioneer since his teenage days and has always abstained from alcohol. Read More On Irish Sport WHO IS AIDAN O'BRIEN'S WIFE? He and Anne-Marie tied the knot in 1991. They have four children with racing fans needing no introduction to son Joseph who at 32, has already established himself as a quality trainer in his own right. But their three other offspring in son Donnacha and daughters Sarah Anastasia have also been jockeys before so the whole family is steeped in the sport. Aidan is no relation to Irish racing icon Vincent O'Brien who dominated on both sides of the Irish Sea before Aidan took over the Ballydoyle stables after he retired in 1994. He outlined: "Look, when the day is bad like that, I get on the plane and I sleep. That's the first thing, to cut myself off. "When I get home, I'll have two or three hours work to do in the yard and set up tomorrow morning. "That takes me to bed time. I'll go straight to sleep and when I get up, I never thinking about yesterday. It's gone. "By thinking about it, you're not going to get it back. You have to get focused on the days in front and learn from the things we need to be working on. "I can sleep no problem. If you don't sleep, the next day you'll be destroyed and the reason I would sleep is to let your mind heal, relax and go on. "If you start off the day after not sleeping it's going to be a disaster the next day and that's a little bit of a strange thing that I've done over the years."

Kate Nash says she would love to collaborate with Kneecap
Singer Kate Nash has said she would love to collaborate with Kneecap and added that it 'is really important' the band are using their platform for a political purpose. It came after police said on Saturday that they are assessing videos of comments made by the Belfast rap trio, as well as punk duo Bob Vylan, during their performances at the Glastonbury Festival. The group are known for their provocative lyrics and merchandise, as well as their championing of the Irish language and support for Palestine. I think there's an opportunity to educate people about England and Ireland's history 'I love Kneecap. I'd love to collaborate. I love collaboration, actually,' Nash told the PA news agency. 'I really, really think collaboration is such an amazing and important part of being an artist, because you just learn every time you collaborate with someone different. 'So I just did a duet with Sprints, because they covered Foundations, and that was really fun.' Nash, 37, added: 'Kneecap would be amazing to collaborate with. My mum's from Dublin and I think that the way they use their political platform is really important.' She continued: 'I don't think English people really understand their (Ireland's) history at all, they just don't know it. 'So I think there's an opportunity to educate people about England and Ireland's history, and sort of being half-English, half-Irish myself I have quite a good understanding of that, but I didn't learn it at school. Moglai Bap and Mo Chara of Kneecap (Ben Birchall/PA) 'There's so many amazing musicians to collaborate with. I love Amyl And The Sniffers.' Before their performance on the West Holts Stage, several politicians called for Kneecap to be removed from the line-up and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said their performance would not be 'appropriate'. During their set, band member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh said: 'The Prime Minister of your country, not mine, said he didn't want us to play, so f*** Keir Starmer.' In reference to his bandmate's upcoming court date the rapper, who performs under the name Moglai Bap, said they would 'start a riot outside the courts', before clarifying: 'No riots, just love and support, and support for Palestine.' Bobby Vylan, of rap duo Bob Vylan, had earlier led crowds in chants of 'Free, free Palestine' and 'Death, death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)'. According to reports, Bobby Vylan is called Pascal Robinson-Foster, 34, from Ipswich. Robinson-Foster is listed on Companies House as being the director of Ghost Theatre Records, which is operated by Bob Vylan. Starmer said the latter chant was 'appalling hate speech' and urged the BBC to explain how the scenes were broadcast. Speaking on the politics of Glastonbury, Nash said: 'What's the history of Glastonbury? It's about anti-corporation, Greenpeace. 'It is ultimately a political festival, and people come here to find togetherness, community, a sense of hope and to watch people play amazing shows, and to have their lives changed, to be inspired. 'I think that we're seeing a lot of really scary things in the world right now, and people want to feel like they can see what they feel on stage being voiced, and I think that politicians need to get a grip.' Asked about artists who say they do not want to be political, she said: 'Certain people, you can't escape the politics of existing in the world. 'If you are a woman and you're like, 'I'm not political', I'm like, 'You are, you are. Everything about your life is political, whether you want it to be or not'. 'I think if you're a very privileged, white, rich man, sure you don't want to be political, or you don't have to be. If you just want to be a pop band, just be a pop band. 'But also, do you even have to comment that you don't want to be? I'm not really sure it helps. 'I think just don't be, then, in a way, if you just want to be a pop band, just be a pop band. 'That's not how I was raised. So it's really difficult for me to understand somebody saying, 'I don't want to be political'.' It came after The 1975 frontman Matty Healy said the band did not want their legacy to be 'one of politics' during their Friday night headline slot. 'I think we don't need more politics, we need more love and friendship,' he said. Nash headlined Glastonbury's Left Field stage on Saturday evening and performed a secret set on the BBC Introducing stage on Sunday. She has released several studio albums and is known for songs including Mouthwash and Foundations, the latter of which peaked at number two in the UK singles chart.
