Husband Of 'Today' Show Co-Host Dead At 45
Uche Ojeh, the husband of 'Today' show co-host Sheinelle Jones, has died at the age of 45.
The heartbreaking news was announced on Friday's broadcast by her colleagues. Jones and Ojeh were married for 17 years.
'With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our dear friend and 'Today' co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma,' host Savannah Guthrie shared.
Guthrie continued to say that 'there are no words for the pain' that she and the rest of the staff are experiencing for Jones' family, including her three children.
'Uche was an incredible person. We all loved him,' Guthrie added.
The couple were married in September 2007 in Jones' hometown of Philadelphia after meeting while students at Northwestern University in the late '90s. She was 19 years old, and he was 17 years old when they met. Ojeh is remembered for being an 'enthusiastic soccer player' with a successful career in consulting, but family, friends and his 'unabiding faith was always his true north.'
'One thing he always talked about, he talked about those kids,' co-host Craig Melvin said. 'He loved those kids more than anything else in this world. He was that dad that was on the sidelines at every soccer game. He was at all of the concerts and the recitals. He was that guy.'
On Friday, Jones shared the show's tribute to her husband on Instagram, writing simply, 'Thank you, for all of your love and support.'
According to the Mayo Clinic, there is no cure for glioblastoma, and its cause often isn't known.

Ryan Coogler confirms he has a role for Denzel Washington in 'Black Panther 3': 'He's the greatest living actor'
It looks like the third time will be the charm for Ryan Coogler and the man he considers to be the greatest actor on the planet. During a recent podcast appearance, the writer and director behind the Marvel blockbusters Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever confirmed that he has crafted a role specifically for Denzel Washington in the planned third installment of the superhero franchise. "I've been trying to work with him since day one," Coogler said on the latest episode of 7PM in Brooklyn With Carmelo Anthony. "I think he's the greatest living actor. And in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I've been talking to him about this for a long time, and I was surprised when he mentioned it. But it's not like it's not true." Coogler — who also cautioned that there's a lot of untrue information about his work floating around out there — was referring to Washington's surprise announcement last November that he'd be part of the cast of Black Panther 3. "I don't know how many more films I'm gonna make, probably not that many," Washington, 70, said on Australia's Today. "I want to do things I haven't done. I played Othello at 22. I am about to play Othello at 70 [on Broadway]. After that, I am playing Hannibal. After that, I've been talking with Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler's writing a part for me in the next Black Panther. After that, I'm gonna do the film Othello. After that, I'm gonna do King Lear. After that, I'm gonna retire." The following month, the two-time Oscar winner said he wasn't supposed to have revealed his involvement in the highly anticipated project, which Marvel has yet to officially announce. "I called [Coogler] the other day. I forgot what it was about — no, I called him to apologize," Washington said on the Variety Awards Circuit podcast. "That's right. I called him. I said, 'I'm sorry, man.' He's like, 'No, man, it's all good.' I FaceTimed, and right there next to him was his lady. They were editing. They were hanging out." The actor has a connection to the Black Panther franchise for reasons beyond Coogler's appreciation for his work in films such as Malcolm X and Training shared a bond with Chadwick Boseman, who starred as the title character, a.k.a. T'Challa, in the original Black Panther, before he died of colon cancer in 2020, at 43. The year before he died, Boseman honored Washington while presenting him with the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award, and along the way explained that Washington had been a silent benefactor who helped fund nine theater students from Howard University, including Boseman, to attend a summer program at Oxford. Boseman said then, "There is no Black Panther without Denzel Washington." Watch Coogler's full podcast appearance above. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

Shari Redstone Has Been Diagnosed With Thyroid Cancer
As the future of her father's sprawling entertainment empire hangs in the balance, Shari Redstone has made a startling health revelation, divulging that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The news, first reported by the New York Times, was confirmed by a spokesperson on Thursday, who said she was diagnosed earlier this spring. 'While it has been a challenging period, she is maintaining all professional and philanthropic activities throughout her treatment, which is ongoing. She and her family are grateful that her prognosis is excellent,' the spokesperson said. More from The Hollywood Reporter Nickelodeon Acquires Animated 'Mr. Crocodile' Series, Based on French Children's Book Paramount Global to Add Three New Board Directors As It Deals With Trump Lawsuit, FCC Review Paramount Plans Immersive 'Top Gun' Experience in Las Vegas Redstone's condition was discovered when she went to her doctor about two months ago for symptoms including fatigue. Redstone's thyroid gland was removed in a surgery that took place last month, she told the Times. After cancer cells were found to have spread to her vocal chords, she is currently undergoing radiation treatment. Her health troubles arrive as Redstone's Paramount Global is attempting to complete an $8 billion merger with Skydance Media, a transaction that is awaiting approval from the Federal Communications Commission. In a move that threatened to thwart the proceedings, President Donald Trump in November sued one of Paramount Global's key programs, CBS' 60 Minutes, alleging that the program had aired a 'heavily tampered interview' with his political rival, former vice president Kamala Harris, in a bid to bolster her presidential chances. While legal observers have argued the case has little merit and 60 Minutes did some routine television news editing, the Trump-appointed head of the FCC, Brendan Carr, reinstated a complaint against CBS over the issue, even as he has claimed he believes it is separate from Trump's $20 million suit. Fearing that Redstone would seek to settle the Trump suit to smooth the way for the Skydance merger, Democratic senators including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have called on her not to back down, calling the legal complaint 'an attack on the United States Constitution and the First Amendment' and an attempt to 'extort' 60 Minutes. In the meantime, CBS News leaders have suggested they're facing extra scrutiny as the merger remains in limbo. Producer Bill Owens left in April, saying he was unable to make 'independent decisions.' CBS News head Wendy McMahon resigned the next month, saying she and the company did not agree on 'a path forward.' More to come.
