El-Sisi, Macron visit Arish on Egypt-Gaza border
President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, arrived in the North Sinai city of Arish on the Egypt-Gaza border to inspect key humanitarian sites critical to Gaza relief operations.
The two leaders also visited the Arish Hospital to check on injured Palestinians, many of whom have been transferred to Egypt via the Rafah border crossing since the onset of the Israeli war on Gaza, according to Extra News TV.
The visit will also include a tour of the aid storage facilities designated for Gaza.
According to a statement from the French presidency, Macron will call for the "reopening of crossing points for the delivery of humanitarian goods into Gaza" during his visit.
In early March, Israel cut off all goods, food, medicine, and fuel to Gaza after blocking the negotiations to move to the second phase of the truce.
President Macron's visit coincides with thousands of Egyptian citizens rallying in Arish in condemnation of the US and Israeli plans to displace Palestinians from their homeland.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly proposed a colonial plan suggesting that the US seizes control of Gaza, displaces its population to Egypt, Jordan, and other Arab nations, and eventually transforms the strip into a 'Middle Eastern Riviera."
The plan was rejected and denounced by American allies and adversaries alike.
Macron's trip to Arish, the first ever by a European president to North Sinai, is part of a three-day diplomatic visit to Egypt aimed at bolstering Gaza relief operations and affirming opposition to the expulsion of Palestinians.
On Monday, during a Cairo meeting, El-Sisi, Macron, and King Abdullah II of Jordan called for an "immediate return" to the ceasefire.
Israel has killed at least 1,391 Palestinians since it resumed its genocidal war on the strip on 18 March, raising the overall Palestinian death toll since 7 October 2023 to 50,752, mostly women and children.

Oman to host US-Iran nuclear talks on Sunday: FM - Region
Oman said Thursday it will host a sixth round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran over the weekend amid escalating tensions between the long-time foes. "I am pleased to confirm the 6th round of Iran US talks will be held in Muscat this Sunday," Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in a post on X. Tehran and Washington have held five rounds of talks since April to thrash out a new nuclear deal to replace the 2015 accord that Trump abandoned during his first term in 2018. The announcement by Oman came just hours after President Donald Trump said US personnel were being moved from the potentially "dangerous" Middle East. Trump also reiterated that he would not allow Iran to have an atomic bomb amid mounting speculation that Israel could strike Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran threatened Wednesday to target US military bases in the region if conflict breaks out. Trump had until recently expressed optimism about the talks, but said in an interview published Wednesday that he was "less confident" about reaching a deal. Since returning to office in January, Trump has revived his "maximum pressure" campaign on Tehran, backing nuclear diplomacy but warning of military action if it fails. The US president says he has pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off striking Iran's nuclear facilities to give the talks a chance, but has increasingly signalled that he is losing patience.
