Egypt will always remain fortified by its national unity: El-Sisi marking 23 July Revolution anniversary

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed on Wednesday that Egypt 'will always remain fortified by its cohesive internal front—impervious to conspiracies and strife, and fully aware of what is being plotted around it.' The remarks came during a televised address marking the 73rd anniversary of the 23 July 1952 Revolution. 'I am firmly convinced that this nation is capable of overcoming challenges and surpassing hardships, no matter how varied or widespread they may be,' El-Sisi said. The president paid tribute to the historical significance of the 1952 Revolution, describing it as a defining moment in the country's modern history. 'On this day, seventy-three years ago, the Egyptian people wrote a shining page in their history, when the spark of the July 1952 Revolution ignited—marking a turning point in the nation's path,' he said. 'It ended a hated era of occupation, established the values of dignity, honour, and independence, and lit the torch of liberation across the Arab region and the Third World.' He described the revolution as 'an inspiration for freedom from colonialism and for national independence.' Reflecting on the lessons of history, El-Sisi said the state continues to draw from the revolution's legacy. 'This republic, built in 2014, stands on solid foundations, guided by an ambitious vision and steady steps toward a modern state that embraces scientific methods to fulfill its aspirations and trusts in God's help to achieve its goals,' he said. El-Sisi pointed to Egypt's resilience amid global upheaval, noting that the country has made 'great accomplishments at a time when other nations have collapsed, entities fragmented, and crises intensified.' 'Yet Egypt remained a land of safety and stability—a secure refuge for humanity,' he added. The president highlighted Egypt's role as a sanctuary during turbulent times. 'Nearly 10 million people from various countries have sought refuge here. Egypt has offered the world a unique model of humanity and responsibility. Despite ongoing pressures, it has never abandoned its national or humanitarian obligations.' The nation's development Turning to domestic progress, El-Sisi stressed Egypt's commitment to development in the face of adversity. 'We preserved the nation's stability and chose the path of construction through a powerful national effort, with determination and hands that do not break,' he said. He highlighted major achievements in recent years, particularly in defence, infrastructure, and social protection. 'Our valiant army has developed into an impenetrable shield and a sharp sword. We defeated terrorism, and the land of Egypt was cleansed of its evils,' El-Sisi declared. He also noted the country's sweeping urban transformation, which included the removal of slums, construction of new housing, and the establishment of smart cities. A flagship initiative in this effort, he said, is Haya Karima (Decent Life), which now benefits nearly 60 million citizens. 'I affirm here,' he continued, 'that Egypt—refusing to let its people live in slums or unsafe areas—will not leave any deserving citizen uncertain about their future or housing.' In conclusion, President El-Sisi expressed his gratitude to the revolutionaries of July 1952, as well as to the Armed Forces, police, and all Egyptians working to build and protect the nation. El-Sisi, Arab League Secretary-General discuss Gaza crisis, regional developments - Foreign Affairs

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit to discuss regional developments, with a primary focus on the Israeli war on Gaza and the military escalation in the occupied West Bank. According to a presidential statement, the talks highlighted ongoing efforts by Egypt and Qatar to secure a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged Strip. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian cause, based on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state per international legitimacy. They also stressed the importance of preserving Palestinian rights and preventing displacement or harm to the Palestinian people. On the same day, the Israeli military issued new evacuation warnings for central Gaza, cutting off access between Deir al-Balah and the southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis. On Friday, Hamas accused Israel of obstructing progress in negotiations aimed at securing a temporary ceasefire and the release of Israeli captives held in Gaza. Indirect talks between the two sides have been ongoing in Qatar since 6 July, aiming for a 60-day truce that would include the release of 10 Israeli hostages. Nearly two weeks into negotiations, no agreement has been reached, with both parties blaming the other for the impasse. Last Wednesday, Qatar and the United States presented a revised ceasefire proposal to Israel and Hamas, calling for a 60-day truce, the release of 10 live captives and the remains of 18 others, the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, and a significant increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza. Israeli forces have killed more than 58,000 Palestinians—primarily women and children—and injured nearly 140,000 others since launching their genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023. Broader regional crises The meeting also addressed developments in Syria, Libya, and Sudan, with a focus on efforts to restore security and stability in those countries. On Sunday, the Syrian government announced a halt in fighting in the southern city of Sweida, after Druze fighters regained control and state forces redeployed to the area. More than 900 people have been killed in the city amid ongoing sectarian violence. The talks also addressed the political and security dynamics in the Horn of Africa, emphasizing the strategic importance of Red Sea security. According to the presidential statement, El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's full support for the Arab League and its role in promoting joint Arab action and unity in the face of escalating regional challenges. For his part, Aboul Gheit praised Egypt's 'wise and balanced' foreign policy, stating that it plays a crucial role in restoring stability in the Middle East, particularly through its support for a just and final resolution to the Palestinian issue, which he described as the only path to lasting peace in the region. Ministry of Education opens applications for trainee teachers at Egyptian-Japanese Schools - Society

The Ministry of Education has begun accepting applications for the role of Trainee Teacher at Egyptian-Japanese Schools (EJS), marking the first time the position has been offered. The post is available for a period of one to two academic years. Applicants aged 21 to 23 can apply through a dedicated online portal for 15 days. Candidates will be evaluated based on specific criteria, including motivation for teaching and creative potential in educational settings. According to a ministry statement, selected trainees will receive intensive technical and personal assessments to identify the most qualified and prepared individuals. Successful candidates will undergo practical training and receive continuous academic and technical support to enhance their professional capabilities and adopt modern teaching methodologies in an interactive learning environment. The initiative introduces a new pathway for recent graduates to gain real-world classroom experience while being immersed in an advanced educational model aligned with international standards for teacher preparation. The Ministry described the move as a significant addition to its teacher qualification system and a reflection of the EJS model's commitment to nurturing educators with both academic and pedagogical competence. Egyptian-Japanese Schools follow the Japanese Tokkatsu philosophy, which emphasizes holistic student development, cooperation, discipline, and responsibility through daily integrated educational activities. In May, the Ministry announced that 11 new EJS schools will open for the 2025/2026 academic year, raising the total to 69 across the country. The EJS initiative was launched in 2016 following President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Japan, which led to a strategic partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to support the development of 100 schools with Japanese expertise and funding.
