Former Auburn guard Tre Donaldson commits to Miami
Former Auburn guard Tre Donaldson transferred to Miami on Thursday. A Tiger from 2022-2024, Donaldson spent this past season playing for head coach Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines.
After starting just 10 of the 67 games he appeared in during his two-year Auburn career, Donaldson thrived as a starter for the BIG 10 Tournament Champion Wolverines in 2024. Playing the most minutes of his career (31.1 pg), the Tallahassee, Florida native notched career-highs in points (11.3), assists (4.1), rebounds (3.5), and steals (1.0) per game.
Now heading to his home state of Florida, Donaldson will not only continue to play an abundance of minutes in the back court, but be given the chance to earn the role as "the guy" for the first time in his career. Even with the uptick in usage a season ago, the former Tiger mostly played second fiddle to the outstanding front court pairing on center Vlad Golden and former Yale turned Michigan forward Danny Wolf.
While Donaldson mostly stayed away from the Auburn Family's eye last season, the spotlight shined tremendously when the guard and his Michigan squad matched up with the No. 1 ranked Tigers in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. After starting the contest off hot from the offensive end, Donaldson's production ceased following a "too small" gesture towards freshman Tahaad Pettiford, who's commitment to Auburn factored in the junior's decision to depart the Plains.
In three collegiate seasons, the combo guard has averaged 7.1 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per game across 104 contests. He'll now join a Miami program that is looking to reload in the transfer portal after finishing dead last in the ACC with a 7-24 (3-17) Former Auburn guard Tre Donaldson transferred to Miami on Thursday. He holds a recruiting rating of 87.26 and is ranked as the No. 46 running back in 247Sports' composite rankings for the 2026 class. The Spartans have yet to land a running back commitment in the 2026 class and it appears Rule may be their next big target they are focusing on moving forward. MSU football set to host 3-star WR Rai'shawn Elmore for official visit this week A three-star wide receiver prospect from North Carolina is set to take an official visit to Michigan State this week. Rai'shawn Elmore of Indian Trail, N.C. will be taking an official visit to Michigan State this upcoming weekend. Elmore posted on his social media X account about the upcoming visit to Michigan State on Monday. Elmore is a three-star prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports. He holds a recruiting rating of 86 on 247Sports, and ranks as the No. 195 wide receiver within the class. He is also ranked as the No. 42 player from North Carolina in the class. Michigan State is one of only a few schools to offer Elmore at this point in his recruitment. According to 247Sports, he also holds offers from East Carolina, Charlotte, Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Liberty and James Madison. Alabama picks up transfer portal commitment from in-state foe Alabama baseball picked up its fourth offseason commitment from the transfer portal on Monday. Former South Alabama infielder Brennan Holt, who spent a year at LSU and a year at Oklahoma State, announced his decision to transfer to the Crimson Tide in a post to social media. Holt joins pitchers Matthew Tippie (Texas State) and Kaden Humphrey (North Florida) and infielder Justin Osterhouse (Purdue-Fort Wayne) as players Alabama has added via the portal since its season ended with a 6-5 loss to Southern Miss at the Hattiesburg Regional of the NCAA Tournament on May 31. A product of Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge, Holt spent the past two seasons at South Alabama after committing to LSU in 2020. He was rated the No. 5 overall recruit in Louisiana by Perfect Game coming out of high school. Holt spent one season with the Tigers in 2022 and appeared in five games before obtaining a medical redshirt due to injury and transferring to Oklahoma State for his sophomore season in 2023. He played in 34 games for the Cowboys and batted .173 (11-for-52). As a redshirt sophomore in 2024, Holt started all 56 games for South Alabama and batted .266 with three home runs, 15 doubles and 24 RBIs. His average rose to .303 as a junior this past season, clubbing six home runs to go with 14 doubles. Holt primarily played second base and was the Jags' leadoff hitter. He stole 29 bases over two seasons with South Alabama, which finished 23-28 overall in the Sun Belt conference this year. Alabama capped the 2025 season at 41-18 overall and were 16-14 in SEC play during the regular season in coach Rob Vaughn's second year in Tuscaloosa. The Crimson Tide's 40 victories in the regular season marked the first time since 2002 that Alabama had posted 40 or more wins in a regular season. Alabama was the No. 2 seed at the Hattiesburg Regional and was ranked No. 20 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll entering the NCAA Tournament.
