Family of missing Denver hairstylist says her body has been found

The family of a Denver hairstylist missing since April said that her body has been found. Jax Gratton was last seen leaving her University Hills apartment on April 15. She rented a suite at Solera Salon Suites in Denver, but because each stylist works for themselves, it took days for anyone to realize she was missing. Family and friends canvassed social media and put up flyers around the city, hoping to find her. On Saturday, Cherilynne Gratton-Camis confirmed with CBS Colorado that her daughter, Jax, was found deceased. Brandy Carey, the salon manager and a friend of Gratton's, said that they plan to hold a vigil for her, but for now, they're taking time off to process what's happened. Jax Gratton has been missing since April 15, her friends and family say. The Denver Police Department is now investigating her disappearance. Gratton's mother posted a tribute to her daughter on Facebook, stating, "Jax Gratton was a light — I know that. She lit up so many lives just by being herself. Unapologetically. Fiercely. Fully. I see her in every act of love and strength you've shown, and I wish peace, love, and protection for all of you." She thanked those who tried to help find her daughter and said Jax's death made her more aware of the dangers those in the LGBTQIA+ community face.

2 Veterans Found With Stolen Military Guns and Nazi Material, Officials Say

Two masked men dressed in fitness clothing worn by Army Rangers made their way onto a military base some 50 miles south of Seattle on Sunday night. The authorities said the men were intent on stealing thousands of dollars in combat equipment from an Army Ranger regiment there. However, the robbery quickly went awry. A soldier walked in and began asking questions as the two men were surrounded by piles of equipment. The soldier was bludgeoned with a hammer and one of the attackers brandished a knife. As the robbers fled, they dropped a bloody rucksack full of stolen combat gear. Handwritten on the rucksack was the name 'Fields,' which investigators discovered matched the last name of a man whose identification had been scanned when he drove that day onto the military installation, Joint Base Lewis-McChord. His name led the authorities to a home elsewhere in Washington State, where they said they discovered a startling scene: rooms and rooms of Nazi and white supremacy paraphernalia and a stockpile of stolen weapons. That, according to a criminal complaint filed on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in the Western District of Washington, tells the story of the investigation that led to the two men, identified by the authorities as Charles Ethan Fields and Levi Austin Frakes, being charged with assault, robbery and theft of government property 'by force and by violence and by intimidation.' The 11-page complaint and a Facebook post by the sheriff of Thurston County, Wash., so far amounts to the only public information about the activities of the two men, who were both identified in the complaint as veterans, leaving more questions than the authorities will currently answer. Protesters face off with NYPD officers outside Federal Plaza Dozens of protesters rallied for hours, facing off with NYPD officers at least twice. Just before 5 p.m., officers took down several protesters and put them in handcuffs. At one point, one protester was being pulled by one officers in one direction and protesters in another direction. At least one person was placed in ambulance. Protesters watching chanted "let them go" and booed officers as they took several people into custody. Several people were taken into custody as anti-ICE protesters and NYPD officers clashed outside Federal Plaza on June 7, 2025. CBS News New York Earlier in the day, things also got tense as activists attempted to block a white van from leaving a building at Federal Plaza. One protester told CBS News New York's Adi Guajardo they were trying to block ICE from taking migrants from the building. It's unclear if there were migrants in that van. "I don't think that there is any hope of us preventing them from moving the people out, but it doesn't mean that we can't try," one immigration activist said. Some of those who were taken into custody were issued summonses. According to data obtained by CBS News, at least 100,000 migrants have been arrested by ICE agents under the Trump administration. Advocates say it's becoming increasingly common for ICE to arrest migrants at their immigration court hearings.
