Map shows likely Red Arrows flypast route on VE Day 2025
The stunning aerial display will fly over the south of England to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, including over Buckingham Palace in London.
The flyover will take place on Monday, May 5, and it's expected thousands of people along the route will line the streets to watch the flypast.
Not only will the Red Arrows take part in the display, but a further flypast of more than 20 current and historic military aircraft will also fly over London.
P8 Poseidons, involved in tensions with Russia, Typhoon fast jets which are part of Nato Air Policing, and Voyager aircraft which have delivered equipment to Ukrainian forces are all taking part.
The Red Arrows flypast route could be subject to change, depending on weather conditions and other factors on the day.
The display will begin over the North Sea off the cost of Norfolk before heading inland over East Anglia, Essex and London.
Planes will then disperse over Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Each area covering the potential route will be restricted, meaning other planes are not able to enter those areas at the following times and altitudes: Area A: between 11.45am-2.45pm, up to 10,000ft
Area B: between 1.15pm-2.10pm, up to 5,000ft
Area C: between 1.20pm-2.10pm, up to 4,000ft
Area D: between 1.20pm-2.10pm, up to 3,000ft
Area E: between 1.25pm-2.10pm, up to 2,500ft
Area F: between 1.25pm-2.10pm, up to 2,500ft
Area G: between 1.45pm-2.25pm, up to 2,500ft
Area H: between 1.45pm-2.25pm, up to 2,500ft
Area I: between 1.45pm-2.25pm, up to 2,500ft
The Red Arrows, which are officially known as the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, are based at the RAF Waddington base in Lincolnshire and have been there since 2022. More Trending
The team has been based in Lincolnshire throughout its history, at RAF Kemble from 1966, moving to RAF Scampton in 1983, and spending five years at RAF College Cranwell between 1995 and 2000.
During displays, the Red Arrows fly extremely close together.
The exact distance varies depending on the stunt being performed, but the jets can fly as close as 6ft apart.

Red Arrows fly past: Where and when to see this bank holiday weekend's displays
The Red Arrows are once again taking to the skies this bank holiday weekend. The RAF jet pilots will put on a display at the Eastbourne International Airshow this afternoon. It comes after the aerobatic display team put on a flypast earlier this year to commemorate VJ Day, or Victory over Japan Day. They first took to the skies along the south coast, but travelled into the midlands above Birmingham and Wolverhampton for the patriotic display. But if you missed them, you may still be able to catch a glimpse this weekend. Today, the Red Arrows will dazzle the skies at the Clacton Air Show today. First, they'll go over the Cromer Carnival Display at noon, leaving from RAF Waddington and then gliding down towards Suffolk. From there, they'll fly overseas, before reaching RAF Waddington again, then taking to the skies and passing Great Ponton, Kipton, Kirklingwood, and reaching Clacton at 17.00 this evening. They'll fly overseas near Clacton around 5.25 pm, then pass Great Horkesley around 5.37 pm. 21 August – Clacton Airshow Display 22 August – Clacton Airshow Display 22 August – Sidmouth Regatta Display 24 August – Roskilde Airshow, Denmark Display 30 August – Bucharest International Air Show Flypast 30 August – Radom Airshow, Poland Display 31 August – Radom Airshow, Poland Display 5 September – International Ayr Show, Scotland Display 6 September – International Ayr Show, Scotland Display 7 September – Great North Run, Newcastle/South Shields Display 10 September – Guernsey Air Display 11 September – Jersey International Air Display 13 September – International Sanicole Airshow, Belgium Display 14 September – International Sanicole Airshow, Belgium Display 20 September – NATO Days – Ostrava, Czech Republic Display 21 September – NATO Days – Ostrava, Czech Republic Display 27 September – Overseas Event to be confirmed. 28 September – Overseas Event to be confirmed. 4 October – Duxford Flying Finale Display Don't worry if you miss the red Arrows today in Clacton, as they will be taking to the skies once again tomorrow. Those living in Feltwell, Bolnhurst, Culworth, Baunton, and Bath will have a chance to see the flyover between 3.30 pm and 4.02 pm. Sidmouth will also get a chance to see the famous red planes fly over at the Regatta. The planes will leave Exeter around 6.17 pm, flying over Bickleigh, George Nympton, and Upton, reaching Sidmouth Regatta around 6.30 pm. They'll then fly overseas, before passing Sandygate around 7.07 pm, Christow at 7.08 pm, and landing in Exeter again moments later. Though not in the UK, the Red Arrows will be heading to Denmark as well. More Trending At the Roskilde Airshow, the Red Arrows will make an appearance between 15.30 pm and 16.05 pm. Anyone dreaming of becoming a Red Arrow pilot needs to have a minimum of 1,500 flying hours under their belt, have completed a frontline, operational tour and be assessed above average as a pilot. The home of the Red Arrows, aptly nicknamed 'The Reds,' is at the RAF Waddington base in Lincolnshire. The arrows moved there in late 2022 after 40 years at RAF Scampton. Bob Dale BBC News, South East BBC/Hanna Neter The Red Arrows appeared on all four days of the airshow A "phenomenal" level of planning made sure there were no serious incidents at Eastbourne Airbourne, despite several people having to be rescued from the water. The annual international air show attracted about 750,000 people to the East Sussex town between Thursday and Sunday. The RNLI said it was called to help an adult and child who had got into difficulty on a paddleboard in Seaford Bay, and was called to "multiple casualties" in difficulty at the Wish Tower, both on Sunday. Jenny Williams, cabinet member for tourism at Eastbourne Borough Council, said the emergency services, including lifeguards, had been "there in an instant". Co-ordinated planning between the council and emergency services for Eastbourne Airbourne is "world class", said the authority She told BBC Radio Sussex the council took immediate action when the sea conditions deteriorated on Sunday. "We put the red flags up, because it got really choppy, almost when the Red Arrows were coming," she said. "I was thinking 'is it going to be too windy?' "There were a number of people that we had to support, but the planning from our events team is world class. We have RNLI in the water and we have all of our emergency services along the seafront, it's a massive operation. "The amount of work is phenomenal." BBC/Piers Hopkirk Jenny Williams said the air show had brought hundreds of thousands of extra visitors to Eastbourne She also said the event had been a great financial success for the town. "All the way from Beachy Head to the harbour was filled with people having a great time on the beach. "One in four of our jobs is about tourism. Our weekend bandstand concerts were sold out, our hotels are full, our restaurants, our shops are full." HM Coastguard said it received a number of separate reports of people in difficulty in the water off Eastbourne on Sunday. A spokesman said: "Responses included coastguard rescue teams being sent from Eastbourne and Birling Gap, as well as an RNLI lifeboat from Eastbourne. "All people made their own way to shore or were recovered safely and accounted for, with South East Coast Ambulance Service providing care where required."
