Saudi Signs Media launches Digital Screen Network inside Riyadh Metro carriages

Saudi Signs Media, in strategic partnership with Rotana Signs, has been awarded the expansive network of 2,688 Digital Screens inside 448 metro carriages, constituting 183 trains that operate across all 6 lines. This public transport system marks the largest urban transit system in the Kingdom that has already welcomed over 18 million passengers and conducted 162,000+ trips since its launch. Supporting advertisers communicate with a diverse passenger profile, each carriage accommodates six Digital Screens strategically installed adjacent to the carriage sliding doors and respected journey progress displays, ensuring maximum visibility for all passengers as it is a point of focus for needed journey information. Given the considerable passenger dwell time spent commuting from points of origin to destination, passengers within the metro carriage are subject to a confined, distraction-free environment that advertisers can capitalise on and ensure high opportunity-to-see (OTS) rates helping enhance brand recall and maximum impact. This placement, combined with the daily routine of commuters across all six lines reinforces and deepens brand presence. Essentially the Riyadh Metro serves all members of the public and visiting individuals from abroad. This integrated Digital Screen network grants brands presence in a novel and in-demand environment that transforms every ride into a valuable advertising opportunity and touchpoint. Commenting on this project, Hassan Zaini, the deputy CEO of sales said: "We take great pride in contributing to Riyadh's development journey. The presence of Rotana Signs' screens inside Riyadh Metro reflects our commitment to delivering innovative advertising solutions that support the city's growth and align with the objectives of Vision 2030. This expansion builds on our regional track record, including successful media operations within Dubai Metro and the Haramain High-Speed Railway. Backed by the expertise of our sister companies, we continue to empower brands through strategic platforms across the region's leading transit networks." As Riyadh continues its transformation into a global hub of innovation and connectivity, this landmark deployment inside Riyadh Metro not only amplifies the visibility of brands but also marks a significant stride toward smarter, more immersive urban advertising experiences that move with the city.

You can now pay for parking using your Salik account

Salik is offering ticketless parking to residents of Deira Enrichment Project… In the latest from a slew of road network and parking updates in the city, Salik has now introduced ticketless parking for residents and visitors of the Deira Enrichment Project. A new ticketless system implemented through Salik's partner firm Parkonic will allow some residents to enter and exit parking zones using their vehicle licence plates as digital tickets. No need for physical tickets or payment apps. Residents can have a yearly membership through Parkonic's app, costing Dhs5,000. Surprisingly, visitors can also have an annual membership, albeit a little pricier, for Dhs7,500, both of these prices excluding a five per cent value-added tax. Including VAT, an hourly parking costs Dh5 and Dh25 for overnight, including VAT across eleven districts. Parkonic, like Parkin, is one of the largest private parking operators in the UAE. Salik has collaborated with them to enhance parking and payment systems across the UAE by eliminating the need for apps and tickets and using Salik's e-wallet system. According to a report by Khaleej Times, the partnership is based on a five-year contract, during which the collaboration will result in the integration of Salik's e-Wallet into 107-plus locations under it's operation and any future locations it may operate in the UAE. Earlier this year, Salik introduced variable toll pricing. The new dynamic pricing applies for all days of the year, except Ramadan, which will have separate rates, and was implemented starting January 31, allowing motorists to travel toll free in certain passages of time in the day. Adjustments have been made according to peak and non-peak weekdays, the toll sits at Dhs6 during morning peak hours (6am to 10am) and evening peak hours (4pm to 8pm). During off-peak hours, between 10am and 4pm, and from 8pm to 1am, the toll is Dhs4. On Sundays, excluding public holidays, special occasions, or major events, the toll is Dhs4 throughout the day and free from 1am to 6am. @ Images: Getty > Sign up for FREE to get exclusive updates that you are interested in

Over 25mln ride Riyadh Metro in first quarter of 2025

RIYADH — The number of passengers on the Riyadh Metro exceeded 25 million in the first quarter of 2025, topping the list of city-based train networks in Saudi Arabia, according to a report released by the Transport General Authority (TGA). The report showed that more than 32.3 million passengers used urban rail systems in the Kingdom during the first three months of the year. Following Riyadh Metro, the Automated Rail Transit (ART) system at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah recorded over 6 million passengers, while the ART at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Riyadh transported more than 900,000. In total, Saudi Arabia's rail sector saw more than 35 million passengers during Q1 2025, marking a major milestone in the country's transport transformation. TGA noted significant growth in intercity rail use, with more than 3.4 million passengers traveling between cities during the same period—reflecting a steady rise in demand. The Riyadh Metro is one of the largest public transport projects in Saudi Arabia to enhance urban mobility and reduce dependence on private vehicles. Managed by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the project features advanced driverless train systems and automated control technology. The network operates 190 trains with a combined total of 452 cars. It also includes 19 public parking locations distributed along its routes, offering space for between 400 to 600 vehicles at each site. © Copyright 2022 The Saudi Gazette. All Rights Reserved.
