Man arrested after cross-county police chase to recover stolen cash machine
A man has been arrested following the theft of a cash machine from a Co-op store in Hampshire.
Hampshire Police, along with officers from Dorset and Wiltshire, engaged in a cross-county pursuit in the early hours of Monday morning, after the ATM was stolen from the shop in Chandlers Ford.
Officers from Hampshire's Roads Police Unit, Dog Unit and District Policing teams were deployed to track down the vehicle involved, which was found to be a stolen Audi RS4.
It was tracked using ANPR systems and Dorset Police were able to deploy a stinger, to try to stop the vehicle as it entered the county.
The driver was eventually stopped on a narrow track, and then attempted to evade police on foot.
The dog unit, along with help from a drone, then tracked him to a nearby outbuilding, where he was detained.
Police confirmed a 23-year-old man from Wimborne was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, failing to stop, and driving a vehicle dangerously.
In a statement, Hampshire Roads Policing said: "After stealing an ATM in a burglary in Hampshire, the occupant thought using fake number plates would throw us off the scent.
"RPU, ARV, a Dog Unit and district policing team officers deployed, and the vehicle was sighted heading out of Hampshire.
"With help from our colleagues in Wiltshire and Dorset we continued to get sightings of the vehicle, allowing us to be waiting as the car travelled towards Wimborne.
"A pursuit ensured and our colleagues from Dorset Police were poised with a stinger to puncture the cars tyres...
"Officers were quickly guided in to arrest the driver for multiple offences. The stolen ATM and vehicle were also secured."

Police warn of counterfeit tickets ahead of British Grand Prix at Silverstone
Police have warned motor-racing fans hoping to attend the British Grand Prix next month to be on their guard for counterfeit tickets. Northamptonshire Police urged people to be aware of fake tickets being sold on social media platforms and also advised against coming to the event at Silverstone between 3 and 6 July without a ticket. The British Grand Prix is one of the UK's largest sporting events, with over 480,000 people expected to attend and concerts by singers Sam Fender, RAYE and Fatboy Slim. The force said uniformed and plain-clothed police officers would patrol the circuit, campsites and surrounding road network, as well as armed officers, search teams, disruption officers and ANPR units. Live facial recognition technology, which has been used at the grand prix for the last two years, will be in operation again. It scans faces with a camera to match biometrics against those held on a watchlist for posing a danger to the public, such as those who have an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Supt Pete Basham, who will lead this year's policing operation, said: "I would urge people to be aware of potential counterfeit tickets being sold, particularly on social media platforms, and I would strongly advise against coming to the event if you don't have a ticket. "We are working closely with the event organisers, other emergency services and partner agencies as the event approaches, to ensure Formula 1 fans have a safe and enjoyable experience, and that anyone looking to commit a crime doesn't succeed."

Motorcyclist's fury at 'shameless' reaction from mother of yob who was filmed joyriding his stolen bike as he hits out at 'atrocious' police response
A motorcyclist who found footage of a teenage yob riding his stolen bike before dumping it in a stream has shared his fury at the 'shameless' response he received from the boy's mother. Kenan Davies, 22, put out an appeal on social media to find the people who stole his Keeway motorcycle and took it for a joyride around the pleasure gardens in Bournemouth, Dorset. He was pointed to Snapchat and Instagram videos seemingly posted by the teenage culprit showing him and his friends riding the stolen bike and showing off injuries seemingly sustained whilst doing so. Mr Davies says he messaged the lad and his mother and was shocked when he received 'shameless' replies from them. The sales manager said: 'They replied and said "f**k you and f**k your bike". 'He didn't give a s**t, probably because he knows he can get away with it. 'The mother appeared surprised that I should be upset that my bike had been stolen. 'It was as though she felt her son was entitled to take it. She ended up offering to pay me 20p a week for my loss as a joke.' Mr Davies contacted Dorset Police's 101 service to report the theft and provided them with all the information he had on the suspect. However, he was shocked when the call handler said it would take three weeks for someone to get back to him, adding that police officers were dealing with 700 incidents a day. Although he recovered his black bike, worth about £1,500, it was a write off having been dumped in the stream. Mr Davies, who lives opposite the gardens, said: 'I posted on Facebook asking if anyone had seen my stolen bike and it gained traction quite quickly. 'I was pointed in the direction of videos of a group of youths riding my bike through the gardens and messages of them talking about how excited they were to have stolen the bike and how they couldn't remember where they'd left it in the morning. 'Watching the video, I was pretty upset and angry mainly because these people were able to ride it through the Lower Gardens at 11pm with police and CCTV everywhere and no one even questioned it. 'I contacted the police via 101 and sent them all the evidence. 'I asked the handler how long it will take to catch this person and they said they are dealing with 700 incidents a day and it will take three weeks to get round to it. 'That is absolutely atrocious especially since it's an open and closed case.' Mr Davies, who works in insurance after graduating from Bournemouth University in 2023, said he is saddened to see the town's recent rise in crime. He said: 'I used to come to Bournemouth as a kid, it's always been a special place to me. So, seeing this sort of thing happen now is just really disheartening. 'The fact that there's a huge pattern going on in Bournemouth with crime, it is getting progressively worse.' A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: 'It is reported that a motorbike was stolen from a car park in the town centre in Bournemouth. 'The bike has subsequently been recovered. Enquiries are being carried out into the incident. No arrests have been made at this time.'
