More than 120 firefighters were trying to extinguish a blaze at an oil depot in the Russian city of Sochi that was sparked by a Ukrainian drone attack, regional Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said early on Sunday on the Telegram messaging app.
In the Krasnodar region where Sochi is located, a fuel tank with a capacity of 2,000 cubic metres (70,000 cubic feet) was on fire, Russia's RIA news agency reported, citing emergency officials.

Kremlin slams Trump's threat to hike tariffs on India over Russian oil purchases

The Kremlin on Tuesday criticised U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to raise tariffs on India if it does not stop buying Russian oil, which the West says helps fund Moscow's military offensive on Ukraine. "Sovereign countries have the right to choose their own trading partners," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, criticising calls to "force countries to sever trading relations" with Russia as "illegitimate." Kurdish-led SDF say five members killed during attack by Islamic State in Syria

The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces said on Sunday that five of its members had been killed during an attack by Islamic State militants on a checkpoint in eastern Syria's Deir el-Zor on July 31. The SDF was the main fighting force allied to the United States in Syria during fighting that defeated Islamic State in 2019 after the group declared a caliphate across swathes of Syria and Iraq. The Islamic State has been trying to stage a comeback in the Middle East, the West and Asia. Deir el-Zor city was captured by Islamic State in 2014, but the Syrian army retook it in 2017. Reuters
