Muggy, stormy weather expected for Father's Day weekend
(PINPOINT WEATHER) — As we close out the week, we are dealing with more of the same across the Carolinas with locally heavy rain and thunderstorms along with miserable humidity.
More of the same is on the way this weekend, with scattered showers and storms expected for both Saturday and Sunday with more heat and mugginess.
This summer pattern looks to continue unabated through the end of next week, with no completely dry day until the end of next week.
As for tonight and your Father's Day Weekend, scattered showers and storms are expected this evening with heavy rain and isolated flash flooding possible. Overnight lows will stay on the warm side thanks to showers and elevated humidity as temperatures will struggle to dip down below the 70-degree mark.
Saturday and Father's Day will bring more of the same with afternoon showers and storms and tropical like conditions as highs push into the upper 80s and the humidity making it feel borderline intolerable outside.
If you're looking to do anything outside with Dad this weekend, the best time will likely be the middle of the day when we should be dry.
Heading into next week, more of the same is expected across the Carolinas with showers and storms possible in the afternoon, essentially every day of the week. Along with the possible wet weather is more heat and humidity, of course, with temperatures that could be pushing into the 90s as our weather starts to dry out.
So if you've wanted to go to the tropics, don't worry, because the weather has come to you!

Our chances of rain are starting to slip as we enter the weekend. Dry air moving in from the Caribbean will reduce rain chances and lead to warmer temperatures for the next week. Storms tonight ahead of summer-like warmth
Warm weekend Isolated storm chances Staying humid Much of northeastern Kansas will remain dry today ahead of a few scattered thunderstorms tonight. Temperatures tonight drop down into the middle to upper 60s with a partly cloudy sky and a light southeast wind. Fathers Day will start off mostly cloudy as showers and thunderstorms push south. Highs will climb into the upper 80s with low 90s in some areas. Most areas dry out past mid-day ending Fathers Day with mostly sunny skies. Humidity will also begin to build as we head into the latter part of the week. We'll start out next week in the 90s with sunny skies. Rain returns for the middle of the week next week with the chance for some isolated showers and storms across much of the area later Tuesday evening. Warm front puts Father's Day into the 70s, chances for storms push into next week
Spotty showers roll into Minnesota early Saturday morning, but will exit to the east east, allowing for some dry time. However, the clouds stick around keeping highs in the mid to upper 60s. There's a chance for an isolated shower or storm Saturday evening, but it looks like a better chance for scattered storms arrives overnight and again on Sunday, Father's Day. With a warm front slowly lifting in the north, temperatures will be a bit warmer, sliding into the mid to upper 70s for Father's Day. Even more storms are expected into the early part of the work week, but timing the waves that far out is difficult at this time. Stay with WCCO as we continue to fine tune this part of the forecast. High temperatures will continue to trend up into the 80s for most of next week. Greatest rain totals look to be across central and southern Minnesota, where some places may see a total of two to four inches of rain. The end of next week looks a little drier as the pattern tries to break for some sunshine.
