The brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, that claimed the lives of innocent tourists has sent shockwaves across the nation. Television actress
Devoleena Bhattacharjee
took to social media to express her anger, heartbreak, and growing frustration over the increasing number of targeted attacks.
Sharing her unfiltered reaction on Instagram, Devoleena wrote:
'Let me rephrase it the way you like it… 'Cowardly attack on innocent HINDU tourists in Kashmir by Pak led Terrorists. They identified each one of them as Hindu and killed them'.'
The actress questioned the silence around the communal targeting in the region and drew parallels with the tragic exodus of Kashmiri Pandits:
'Candle March aur yeh woh sab toh theek hai.
But jitna main samajhti hoon, suni hoon, without the help of locals aise terror attacks possible nahi ho paate…. Almost same happened with kasmiri pandits.'
She didn't hold back her criticism regarding the alleged discomfort with peace in the Valley and the possible local complicity behind such attacks:
'Accha khasa tourism chal raha tha. Toh shanti se zindagi jeena hazam nahi hua. Hate toh hate…Jo samajhna hai samjhe.
MKA.'
The actress then raised a hard-hitting question that sparked deep debate:
'But yeh saare terrorists aur terror attacks islamic hi kyun hote hai? Anybody has any answer? Genuinely I want to know. Aisa kya sikhate hai inko? Kya parvarish hoti hai inki? Kaise maa baap hote hai inke? Kya padhte hai aisa?'
Calling out radical ideologies and propaganda, she added:
'Literally they believe in that 72 hoors and all that idiotic things.
Poori Duniya pareshan hai bhai inse… and more than these terrorists, I feel their sympathizers should be held accountable and punished.'
Devoleena ended her message with a direct appeal to the Indian government, demanding strong action over rhetoric:
'@PMOIndia @AmitShahOffice Sir please rallies mein speeches nahi sunni hai. Action cahiye aur woh bhi tod phod waali. Enough is Enough. Jai Hind.'
She urged people to stop sugar-coating the truth, saying:
'Arey khulkar bolo yaar… Sirf touristo par goli nahi chalayee… Dharm pucha touristo ka pehle, Hindu hone par goli maari gayee… Have balls bloody to call spade a spade…'
Her post, marked by the hashtag #PahalgamTerroristAttack, has resonated with many who feel the same helplessness, fear, and demand for accountability.

After communal tensions in Assam's Dhubri, minister calls it ‘symptom of demographic transformation'

The discovery of suspected cattle remains near the premises of a temple in Western Assam's Dhubri town has led to the flaring of communal tensions and the arrest of 10 people. District authorities said the situation was brought under control as of Tuesday afternoon. However, a Cabinet minister in Assam's BJP government has called the issue a 'symptom' of 'calculated demographic transformation of entire regions of India'. Dhubri district is located along the state's border with Bangladesh. According to Dhubri DC Dibakar Nath, the tensions began with the discovery of suspected 'cow meat' near the premises of a Hanuman temple in Dhubri town on Sunday. On Monday, demonstrations were held in the town and they later escalated to stone pelting. Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control. On Monday night, the district administration imposed prohibitory orders throughout Dhubri town, citing 'a likelihood of breach of peace and public tranquillity in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of Dhubri police station due to communal tension, riot risk, violent protests, etc'. The administration had ordered the closure of all shops and markets in the town, disallowed the assembly of more than five people in any public areas, and banned any rallies or demonstrations. DC Nath told The Indian Express that the situation stabilised as of Tuesday evening and that the prohibitory orders were withdrawn. 'Things have come under control with the prohibitory orders and the sufficient deployment of police and CRPF, and we have been able to revoke the order this afternoon. We have formed peace committees in all critical areas and are engaging with the community through them. Ten people have been arrested in connection with Sunday's incident and the investigation is ongoing,' he said. The developments have also led to political discourse, with Assam Cabinet minister Ashok Singhal saying in a post on X: 'What is happening in Dhubri today isn't sudden. It's the direct result of decades of ignored patterns, deliberate policies, and the political silence of the Indian National Congress and AIUDF in pursuit of vote-bank politics. The forced demographic imbalance, once ignored as a 'local issue', now stands as savages hell-bent on the annihilation of the Hindu faith and our way of life, posing a serious threat to Assam and the rest of India.'

Collective responsibility for ensuring peaceful Amarnath Yatra: Mehbooba

Srinagar, June 10 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday said that it was the collective responsibility of every Kashmiri in ensuring a peaceful and secure Amarnath Yatra beginning from July 3. Mehbooba said this during her visit to the tourist resort of Pahalgam in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pahalgam was struck by a brutal terrorist attack on April 22, leaving 25 tourists and a local dead. During the Amarnath Yatra, Pahalgam serves as the traditional base camp for the yatris '…Amarnath Yatra is about to start. That's why I called all our workers on the route of Amarnath Yatra. I told them that the people of Pahalgam have to take care of Amarnath Yatra so that the Yatra goes well,' Mehbooba told a gathering at the tourist resort. She highlighted the historical role of Pahalgam's residents in fostering communal harmony. 'The people of Pahalgam have kept Hindu-Muslim unity alive in the country. For centuries, the people of Kashmir and Pahalgam have welcomed Amarnath Yatris with open hearts, and this legacy will continue with the same spirit and sincerity,' she said. Mehbooba underscored that the security of Amarnath Yatris is a shared responsibility, noting, no matter how many security forces are deployed, the actual responsibility for a peaceful Amarnath Yatra lies with every inhabitant of Pahalgam. She said once the Amarnath Yatra will be peaceful, people will regain their confidence and tourism will start again. The PDP chief also urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Lieutenant Governor to take swift action to reopen popular tourist destinations such as Chandanwari, Aru Valley, Betab Valley, and other parks in Pahalgam. She questioned the delay in their reopening, stating, 'I want to ask Omar sahab, no one stops you from giving jobs to retired people or transferring officers as you wish. If you can exercise your authority freely in these matters, why can't you ensure these parks are open for the public?' 'We, in the opposition, can only raise our voice. But if you, despite being in government, only make statements, what's the difference between you and us?' she asked UNI MJR GNK
