"I was really rooting for the victory. In that last one I was really fast and I came away with the win," revealed Hitech's McLaughlin.
"Every racing driver loves it when you're on your own and you have a big gap behind, so the stress was low and I just tried to manage the gap and stay calm."
The key was getting a strong start off the grid - and McLaughlin got a perfect getaway.
'The main thing in F4 is getting a good launch, so I did a good start and from there on just drove off," he said.
"I think every racing driver loves it when you're on your own and you have a big gap behind, so the stress was low and I just tried to manage the gap and stay calm.'
The next round of the Wera Tools F4 British Championship takes place at Oulton Park in a fortnight.

Two targets have emerged if Manchester City do sell Savinho to Tottenham
Yesterday, it emerged that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City had begun negotiations over a potential deal that would see Savinho sign for Spurs. Late last night, Fabrizio Romano relayed a report from Matteo Moretto on X thay broke that news. Now it has been reported that Manchester City could potentially move for RB Leipzig's versatile attacking midfielder Xavi Simons or Real Madrid winger Rodrygo if Savinho leaves the club. It now seems that City are moving quickly to cover all possibilities if Savinho does depart that club. Tottenham have moved to sign Savinho, but Manchester City have so far held firm. David Ornstein and Guillermo Rai have reported for The Athletic that Tottenham have approached Manchester City over the possibility of signing Savinho. Furthermore, The Athletic reports that Tottenham and City discussed a package worth up to £43.3 million to sign Savinho. The Athletic reports that Manchester City would want significantly more to sell the Brazilian international. Lastly, it is also reported that Savinho is open to a move to Tottenham. Two potential replacements for Savinho have now been reported. If Manchester City did sell Savinho, they would be in the market for another winger. Savinho would have likely played on the right wing. Oscar Bobb, Rayan Cherki, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva can all play that position. If Savinho did leave Pep Guardiola's squad, it would need another winger. Cherki, Foden, and Bernardo Silva will likely all play considerable time in central roles. Now two reports have named Xavi Simons and Rodrygo as potential Manchester City targets. Fabrizio Romano has reported that City are considering a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo. Furthermore, Romano reports that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the Brazilian international. Lastly, Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid would let Rodrygo leave the club if he wants for a transfer fee of around €100 million. Sacha Tavolieri reports that Manchester City could be set to rival Chelsea for the signing of Xavi Simons. Furthermore, Tavolieri reports that City have contacted Xavi Simons' agent over a potential move to the Etihad. Any City move for Rodrygo or Xavi Simons would depend on Savinho leaving the club. That domino is the one that likely has to fall first. But if Savinho is open to leaving Pep Guardiola's side, it is highly likely that he will. City typically don't keep players who are open to leaving the club. Rodrygo or Xavi Simons would be a fine replacement for Savinho. They are both proven performers at the highest level. All of a sudden, a big week lies ahead for Manchester City. Just when it seemed that it would be a quiet ending to the transfer window in terms of incomings at Etihad, another big move may be on the cards for Pep Guardiola's side.

Loan Report: Crew and Gelhardt make second debuts
The EFL season is underway, with two Leeds United loanees coming off the bench over the weekend to make their second debuts for their respective clubs. Having rejoined Doncaster Rovers just days earlier, midfielder Charlie Crew made an appearance in their 2-1 win over Mansfield Town, playing the final half-hour on Saturday. The Welsh international, who featured 13 times for Rovers as they won promotion last season, was introduced with his side trailing 1-0 at the One Call Stadium, before Grant McCann's men staged a comeback with a brace from Owen Bailey. Speaking of his delight at re-signing Crew, McCann said: 'He is obviously a special talent, as we all know. Seeing him over the last couple of days in training reminds us how good he is, how much energy he has, and how well he can handle the ball. I'm really pleased to have him back, and I'm pleased that Leeds have trusted us again with his development.' Elsewhere, Joe Gelhardt's loan move to Hull City was announced on Saturday morning – just hours before the forward came on in the 80th minute of the Tigers' 0-0 draw with Coventry City at the CBS Arena. Reflecting on the move and the impact he hopes Gelhardt will make, Hull boss Sergej Jakirović said: 'He was my vision. I asked so many times about him because, in our situation with the embargo and everything else, he wanted to come to us. We need such a player, and there's no adaptation time. The group likes him, and he knows our environment as well, so this is a very, very good choice for us.' The EFL Cup awaits both Crew and Gelhardt on Tuesday night, with Doncaster making the short trip to Middlesbrough (7:30pm) whilst Hull City travel to Wrexham (7:45pm). Max Wöber, on loan at Werder Bremen, has a little longer to wait until his season gets underway – the German side's first competitive match kicking off at 7:45pm on Friday, a DFB-Pokal tie against Arminia Bielefeld. After completing his move to Mallorca over the weekend, Mateo Joseph could be in line to make his debut for Los Bermellones on Saturday (6:30pm), as they open their 2025/26 campaign against La Liga champions Barcelona.
