A South Carolina coastal resort has been named by Travel + Leisure magazine among the top 10 new resorts in the United States.
The Dunlin, an Auberge Resorts Collection hotel named for a shorebird, opened this past summer along the marshlands of the Kiawah River on John's Island.
It is 20 miles south of Charleston.
Elizabeth Rhodes, a Travel + Leisure associate digital editor and native South Carolinian, called the 2,000-acre resort 'a love letter to laid-back Lowcountry living.'

She said the 72 guest rooms and suites spread across several buildings 'feel more like a group of Southern homes.'

There are three restaurants. Linnette's, the signature restaurant, is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and includes all the Lowcountry favorites from shrimp and grits to fried chicken as well as a 45-day dry aged New York Strip.
Catch of the day and vegetables from local farms change with the season.
The lobby bar is called Willet Room. 'This is where to sit if you'd like a light lunch, to try a rare whiskey, or to linger in the early evening with close friends over wood fire-grilled oysters and a Charleston Swizzle,' the resort says.
The Cove is a riverfront pool with cocktails and private cabanas. The pool is also lined with 1950s-inspired umbrellas and loungers.
'I'm well-versed in the magic of the Lowcountry,' Rhodes wrote. 'I checked into The Dunlin this past fall with my sister (a Charleston local) for a girls getaway.'
They watched the sun set with Charleston swizzles on the porch, dined on caviar-topped fried oysters at Linnette's, and swam in the marshfront pool.
'But the most exciting moment of our stay happened during our Into the Salt Marsh excursion, when more than a dozen dolphins jumped and swam all around our boat in the Kiawah River,' she said.
The resort also features a number of experiences, including crabbing, sunrise yoga, and a trek with a naturalist.
The Dunlin includes Aster spa, which the resort says is inspired by French skincare traditions that uses 'skincare products with the healing properties of local Aster honey.'
Rhodes reports the cost to stay begins at $749 for doubles.

Louis Vuitton's Saint-Tropez Restaurant Is Back With a Michelin Star

The Arnaud Donckele & Maxime Frédéric atLouis Vuittonrestaurant has set up shop at the White 1921 Saint-Tropez for the third consecutive year. This time, however, the bougie dining locale is back with a newly earned Michelin star. Chef Arnaud Donckele and chef pâtissier Maxime Frédéric have unveiled a seasonal menu guided by three pillars: international food, disruptive dishes, and cultural meals. The chefs, both of whom are from Normandy, place a special emphasis on French and Mediterranean cuisine, but international flavors contribute to the menu's travel-by-plate mentality. Among the best-rated dishes are the Wagyu beef, which is served in a seasoned broth, and the grilled blue lobster, which is dressed with shiso-infused sauce. The Louis Vuitton restaurant features all sorts of nods to the French megabrand's core identity, including trunk-shaped side tables, Monogram-inspired tableware from the 'Art de la Table' collection, and even desserts modeled after the label's signature shapes and motifs. The alfresco dining area is filled with white and blue sofas, which are enclosed by lush greenery decorated with logomanic flowers. The Arnaud Donckele & Maxime Frédéric at Louis Vuitton restaurant is now open at Hotel White 1921 in Saint-Tropez, France, and reservations can be made on the brand's website. Take a look inside the restaurant in the gallery above.

Your Costco Membership Card? No, It Is Not a Replacement for Real ID.

The membership card that gets you a $1.50 hot dog combo meal will not, in fact, get you past Transportation Security Administration agents. That's what airport security officials are reminding travelers as some forget the details for Real ID, which require passengers navigating through airport security checkpoints to present a federally compliant, security-enhanced, star- or flag-emblazoned form of identification. And that big gold star on Costco cards does not count. 'Can't fly on hot dogs and hope,' the T.S.A. posted across its social media accounts on Wednesday. 'Your Costco Gold Star Membership card might score you a 48-pack of TP, magical rotisserie chicken and a hot dog and soda that defies inflation, but it won't get you through a TSA checkpoint.' While the T.S.A. is known to have a sense of humor online (the agency's Instagram handle is @tsa, but the name is Travel Tips & Dad Joke Hits 🎶), the post was meant as a genuine reminder to those who think the membership card could be a true replacement for a government-issued identification. Every few months, a Reddit thread points travelers to this tip: If you end up at the airport without a proper ID, try your Costco card instead. 'That's the realest ID,' someone commented. 'It's got the gold star they want to see,' another said. Some posts make it sound easy: Get through security with the same card that gets you bulk-size deals. On May 25, the food site Chowhound picked up a thread that ran that advice under the promising headline 'How Your Costco Card Can Save You at the Airport.' On June 3, the article was updated to include a disclosure: The T.S.A. does not explicitly state that a Costco card can be used as a form of identification. With new Real ID requirements, using your membership card on its own is not going to get you through security. There is no Kirkland special at the airport. However, because Costco membership cards include your photo and name, it may help T.S.A. agents confirm your identity if you have no other form of identification. Still, it is not a replacement for a government-issued form of identification. T.S.A. agents would most likely have to take additional measures to confirm your identity, and you could be pulled aside for additional screening. If you are about to travel and you don't have a Real ID, you can get through airport security with a state-issued enhanced driver's license, a permanent resident card (also known as a green card), a valid passport, a passport card or identification for trusted traveler programs like Global Entry and NEXUS. But don't leave your Costco card at home. The big-box store has hundreds of locations around the world, and they all take the same membership card.

Thousands gather to watch RAF Air Show

Thousands of military aviation enthusiasts gathered on Sunday for the RAF Cosford Air Show - the only one of its kind organised by the Air Force. As well as The Red Arrows, display teams from Ireland, Poland, and the Netherlands took to the skies above the Shropshire base. Sqn Ldr Dave Kerrison, one of the organisers, said there had been lots to enjoy. The event was first held in 1978, and has run most years since then. "Everybody wants to see the Red Arrows [but] we've got quite a lot of flights that are coming in today, so it's going to be a fun-packed day," Sqn Ldr Kerrison said ahead of the event. He added that as well as air displays, the Air Force would offer a flavour of everything it did, and not just touch upon its history and part in conflicts but highlight its role in humanitarian aid. Attractions this year included the Great War Display Team performing a dogfight routine in replica British, French and German World War One aircraft. There were also displays by the Royal Navy Black Cats, and Chinook and Apache helicopters. There was also a display from aerobatics pilot Mélanie Astles, the first woman to take part in the Red Bull Air Race. The chairman of the Royal Netherlands Air Force Historic Flight André Steur said it was an honour to attend the event. "The ties [between ourselves and the RAF] are very close and have been for years so when we were asked to come here, we were very glad to honour it," he said. West Midlands Railway advised that due to a late-notice shortage of crew, there would be limited train services returning from the event. It said queueing systems would be in place at Cosford and Wolverhampton during busier periods to manage the flow of people. Follow BBC Shropshire on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X and Instagram.
