John Fogerty has taken a cue from Taylor Swift and re-recorded some of his biggest hits and deep cuts from his days in Creedence Clearwater Revival. Those 20 tracks have been collected into his new album, Legacy: the Creedence Clearwater Revival years, out August 22nd via Concord.
Co-produced by Fogerty with his son Shane Fogerty, Legacy features beloved songs including 'Proud Mary,' 'Fortunate Son,' and 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain.' Both Shane and his brother, Tyler Fogerty, perform throughout the album, accompanying their father's newly re-recorded vocals. Pre-orders are ongoing.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Fogerty joked that he 'lobbied very much' to call the project Taylor's Version, referring to Swift's series of re-recorded albums after her back catalog was sold to Scooter Braun. Although Fogerty reclaimed a majority interest in the Creedence Clearwater Revival publishing catalog in 2023, this did not include his master recordings.
'For most of my life I did not own the songs I had written,' Fogerty added in a statement. 'Getting them back changes everything. Legacy is my way of celebrating that — of playing these songs on my terms, with the people I love.'
Stream the new 'John's Version' recordings of 'Up Around the Bend,' 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain,' and 'Porterville' below.
After celebrating his 80th birthday at New York City's Beacon Theatre last night (Wednesday, May 28th), Fogerty is returning for another performance tonight, May 29th. He'll remain on the road this summer with a string of festival appearances in the UK/Europe and a handful of headlining US shows. Get tickets here.

Concord City Council to hold public hearing on possible social district

Concord city councilors voted unanimously this week to hold a public hearing next month on a proposal to create a social district, a designated area where patrons can buy alcohol and take it with them. When the new law takes effect next month, New Hampshire will become the ninth state to allow people to purchase alcohol at local bars and restaurants, then take it with them in a to-go cup while moving through designated 'sip and stroll' areas downtown. Local officials determine the boundaries of the social district, then work with the liquor commission and the state to ensure that all requirements under state law are met and develop a working plan to ensure safety in the district. Elected boards in communities that adopt the social districts are also given the authority to limit the hours when the activity is allowed. Voters must then approve creation of a social district at town meeting or a city election. 'I'll be supporting this action,' said City Councilor Jennifer Kretovic. 'I think it's really important for our community to look at the organizations we support, like InTown Concord — for Market Days, they typically have a beer tent. This would allow them to have a social district at their event, it could be more expansive and more inclusive. It'll also allow the opportunity for other nonprofit organizations to as well, have events. 'We are about to embark on our 250th/300th anniversary in the city of Concord — and oddly enough, our Constitution was ratified because people were drinking alcohol.' The statute takes effect on Sept. 5. State Rep. Bill Boyd, R-Merrimack, sponsored HB 467, modeling it after one that North Carolina adopted in 2021 and working with Chief Mark Armaganian, director of the New Hampshire Liquor Commission's Division of Enforcement and Licensing. The new ordinance restricts open containers to materials other than glass, usually plastic cups, with no more than 16 fluid ounces in them at one time. Stickers or other labels are required, and drink limits are enforced. Drinks cannot be carried outside of social district boundaries, which are marked with prominent signs. Maps of the district boundaries are posted online. Anyone with alcohol still in the cup and exiting the social district must throw it away unless the person is going back to the place where the alcohol was purchased from initially. Concord Deputy City Solicitor John Conforti said he city currently grants licenses to several licensees to expand the service area for alcoholic beverages adjacent to their properties. 'Social districts would allow a designated alcoholic beverage consumption area that is shared by multiple establishments that are licensed to sell alcohol,' Conforti said. 'It appears that districts can be established on a temporary basis with limitations on hours or days of operation. Social districts must be clearly defined both by location and time and dates when the district is in effect. Businesses that wish to participate must only sell alcohol on their premises in containers that are subject to strict labeling and size requirements. 'Moreover, patrons cannot bring alcohol from one establishment within the district into another.' Additional administrative rules related to social districts are expected from the Liquor Commission. Municipalities that are interested in social districts are required to hold a public hearing on putting a question on a ballot on establishing one locally at least 15 days but no more than 30 days before the election. If Concord is looking to put the question on a ballot for the Nov. 4 municipal election, a public hearing must be held at the council's Sept. 8 meeting to determine if the public is interested in doing so, officials said. 'We don't have any particular areas in mind,' City Manager Tom Aspell said. 'It's just, if you want to keep this option out there, this has to be on the ballot that comes up in November.' 'Approving it on the ballot would just give you the opportunity to set up social districts in the future,' Conforti said. 'You — the municipality — would then have to make a decision on where you would set it up, and then there's a maintenance plan that would need to be established and submitted to the Liquor Commission. The Liquor Commission would then need to approve that. So there are a number of things that we already know need to happen.' Concord City Councilor Ali Sekou asked if the city has the authority to dictate how much alcohol people can consume. 'People that have their license have to take that ownership,' Conforti said. 'The responsibility for serving and all the rules and laws associated with that remain with the licensee who's serving the alcohol. We will have some responsibilities with regard to maintaining the district and signage and security and those types of things, and making sure that we make clear where the boundaries are of that district, but in terms of the actual service that that responsibility would remain with the licensee.' Nashua officials have discussed the possibility of creating a social district. Legislators from Portsmouth and North Conway said it was likely to be seriously considered there as well. Jodie Nazaka, Manchester's economic development director, said in May her department hasn't heard any businesses or aldermen express interest in establishing this type of district in Manchester. An attempt to reach her this week for an updated comment was unsuccessful. Solve the daily Crossword

The divorce was finalized in 2022. Jones' father took to Facebook to make a tribute to her daughter's boyfriend. 'Yesterday we lost a good man Brandon Blackstock my daughter's soulmate and I considered him my son,' he wrote. 'My sincere condolences to Brittney Jones and family. We're sure going to miss your funny humor. R.I.P hoss!'Despite being separated and divorced, Clarkson stood by Blackstone's private battle with melonoma all the way up until his death. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time,' a statement from Blackstock's reps read. Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband Brandon Blackstock was dating her former assistant at time of death: obit

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was in a committed relationship with her former production assistant at the time of his death. While Clarkson, who was married to Blackstock for seven years before their divorce was finalized in 2022, was not named in an obituary published Tuesday, his "beautiful and loving partner" Brittney Marie Jones was acknowledged for helping create their Montana ranch. Blackstock died Aug. 7 after a "brave and courageous" three-year battle with cancer. He was 48. "Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana," the obituary read. According to her LinkedIn profile, Jones worked as Clarkson's production assistant in Nashville from 2016 to 2018. In December 2018, Jones shifted to working in Los Angeles for Clarkson's talk show – she also began working as an executive management assistant for Blackstock. In June 2020, Jones became an executive assistant for V Bar B Cattle Co., a Montana ranch owned by Blackstock. Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock that same year. A representative for Clarkson did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment. According to the obituary, Blackstock was remembered for pursuing the "cowboy way of life he always wanted to live." The talent manager played "important roles in shaping the careers of many larger-than-life celebrities," according to the eulogy. "In his early adult years, Brandon moved to Nashville and began his career in the music business," the obit stated. "He played important roles in shaping the careers of many larger-than-life celebrities and left a lasting impact on everyone who met him. He always had his hand out to pull others up the ladder, to open a door, to make a connection. Many industry insiders have Brandon Blackstock to thank for their opportunities." Following more than two decades in the music business, "Brandon found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live. He found a homestead and a love in Butte, Montana." "Brandon didn't do anything halfway," the announcement stated. "He charged into life with both guns blazing. He was a cowboy … and valued the cowboy way of life. He drove a big truck, rode a good horse, and removed his hat when he introduced himself. He was a sharpshooter, a man's man, and a true gentleman. He loved a hard day's work that started early and finished late." The notice continued, "He had no schedule for when it was time for a cold Coors Light, and his Wrangler jeans were no stranger to a Copenhagen can ring. He rode bulls, but he did not take any. There were no elk, deer, or fish who weren't slightly afraid of him. He was honest and earnest. He was loyal, hardworking, and loved hard. "But never did his star shine brighter than in his role as a father. Nothing mattered to Brandon more than his four beautiful children, Savannah, Seth, River, and Remy. To say he was devoted seems cliché. It feels like an overused word, but it is the correct word. He was a devoted father. His four children were and will always be his greatest love and his greatest legacy." Blackstock's cause of death was due to melanoma, a form of skin cancer, Fox News Digital confirmed. His manner of death was listed as natural causes. "It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away," a representative for the family told Fox News Digital in a statement. "Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time." Clarkson and Blackstock were married in 2013, but they knew each other previously as Blackstock's father, Narvel Blackstock, owns the music management company that represented Clarkson beginning in 2007. Blackstock was Clarkson's manager from 2017 until their split in 2020. "Kelly remained protective of him when she found out he was sick," a source told People magazine. "She's always kept things classy, even when it became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She's been devastated for the kids." While their tumultuous divorce played out in the public eye, Clarkson's focus has always been on maintaining stability for their two children, River Rose and Remington Alexander. "The divorce was incredibly difficult for her – messy, painful and something she felt terrible about," the source told the outlet. "But she never wanted her kids to be caught in the crossfire. She never spoke poorly about Brandon to them."
