Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer valiantly beaten in ferocious UK title fight
The Currock man's BKFC British welterweight title fight against Connor Tierney was a ferocious contest.
But Christie was ultimately beaten by technical knockout in the fourth round after his corner stepped in.
The 40-year-old Cumbrian traded some formidable blows with home-city champion Tierney at BKFC 77 Birmingham.
The Carlisle boxer's face took some serious punishment whilst Christie landed some powerful shots of his own as he fought on.

But the fight was called to a halt 14 seconds into round four, with the post-fight announcements confirming that it was Christie's corner rather than referee Alan Jackson who had called a stop to things.
It saw 30-year-old Tierney retain his title, with Christie denied in his comeback BKFC fight as he tried to add the welterweight title to the UK light-heavyweight crown he won in 2023.
The fight was top of the card at BP Pulse Live and lived up to its billing as the two fighters showcased a contrast of powerful styles.
Tierney, fighting from the blue corner, set the early pace with some rapid uppercuts and body shots, drawing early blood, before Christie – who had cut a relaxed and confident figure in his ring walk – offered a strong response with a big right-hand blow that connected with his opponent just before the first round bell.
The reigning champion showed sharp movement as the pair traded more blows, Christie's face increasingly blood-streaked as cuts opened up further during the second round.
The Carlisle fighter then tried to force the issue early in the third round as he went on the attack with some right and left-hand combinations, Tierney having to withstand some powerful shots from Christie whilst offering further telling body shots and jabs and showing elusive movement.

The fourth round was paused early on with calls for Tierney's right-hand wrap to be attended to, but the fight did not resume as referee Jackson then signalled an end to the contest.
Christie offered no protest against the decision and was quick to embrace Tierney as the Birmingham man celebrated his victory.
The post-fight statistics showed that Christie threw and landed more punches but the damage inflicted by Tierney was also clear.
Announcer Jeff Houston duly confirmed that 'the red corner had stepped in' leading to the TKO decision in Tierney's favour.
Christie's corner team included fellow Cumbrian BKFC champion Agi Faulkner as well as Carlisle bare-knuckle boxer Kieron Sewell along with coach Arron Adair.
The fight had seen Christie return to the high-profile BKFC platform, having retired last November.
The Cumbrian made a strong impact on the top bare-knuckle stage in his initial run of fights by winning the light-heavyweight title two years ago, while last year he earned a world title fight in the middleweight division, losing to American star David Mundell.

How to watch Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley live: Stream, TV channel, team news, prediction
The Thomas Frank era officially begins on Saturday (10 am ET), when Tottenham Hotspur host newly promoted Burnley to kick of the 2025-26 Premier League season. WATCH — Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou as Spurs manager this summer — just weeks after the Aussie delivered the club its first trophy since 2008 — and Tottenham Hotspur legend Heung-min Son decided it was time for him to move on as well, so say it's been a summer of change and transition would be a massive understatement. Cristian Romero has replaced Son as captain and everyone else is back from last season's Europa League-winning team, with the noted addition of Mohammed Kudus ($74 million, from West Ham) in Son's place. James Maddison (torn ACL) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) are both missing in central midfield, where Frank's options are limited to ball-winners and all-action types. Spurs will be a dangerous counter-attacking and set-piece side this year, if their goals against PSG in the UEFA Super Cup are any indication, and that raises the floor for last season's 17th-place finishers but lowers their ceiling at the same time. Burnley have been plenty busy themselves this summer, preparing for life in the top tier once again. A dozen players have already been signed with transfer fees attached, and it's a baker's dozen if you include Axel Tuanzebe, who signed as a free agent from recently relegated Ipswich Town. Scott Parker's Clarets were promoted back to the Premier League (again) after finishing 2nd last season, their first back in the Championship (again). It marked the 4th straight season that Burnley have either been promoted or relegated, as they yo-yo back and forth, clearly too good for the second tier but also miles off the pace the last time they were in the top flight (24 points from 38 games, relegated by 8 points). Spurs 1-0 Burnley.

Alexander Isak 'on strike' as Newcastle has new scenario for Liverpool sale
Alexander Isak is reportedly on strike as he looks to force a summer transfer to Liverpool, and Newcastle United is weighing up a fresh scenario before the new Premier League season starts. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is keeping Isak away from the rest of the squad due to his conduct, and recently admitted that the transfer saga hasn't been healthy for the club. Liverpool bid $148 million for Isak earlier this summer and is waiting to see if Newcastle will entertain a sale before submitting a new offer. While Newcastle does not wish to sell its prized asset, who is contracted through 2028, Isak has made it clear that he doesn't want to play for the club again. According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle may be forced to play Anthony Gordon at center-forward until January, and Isak may be sold if Yoane Wissa joins the club from Brentford. READ MORE: Alexander Isak could be given transfer lifeline thanks to PSG READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Giovanni Leoni deal confirmed, Guehi 'staying', Isak latest Isak is one of the best strikers in the world, and Newcastle is under no contractual pressure to sell. However, his conduct means that he is a depreciating asset, and while Newcastle has the wealthiest owners in the Premier League, maximum value is essential when considering profit and sustainability rules. However, Newcastle needs to sign a replacement before selling Isak, and Howe is keen to add two strikers to the roster. Newcastle released veteran forward Callum Wilson this summer and has struggled to sign a center-forward after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, and Benjamin Sesko. Newcastle must sign at least one striker before allowing Isak to leave, and Wissa is the priority. Howe plans to play Wissa and Gordon in the attack and integrate new signing, Anthony Elanga. Newcastle has also reached an agreement with Aston Villa for attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey, and the club will now focus on a deal for Wissa. Brentford manager Keith Andrews has confirmed that Wissa will miss the season opener against Nottingham Forest on Sunday due to transfer interest. Brentford is demanding $54 million for the 28-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season. Discussions are ongoing, but Howe is keen to lift the mood at Newcastle following Isak's removal. "I don't think it's been healthy for us," Howe said to the BBC. "I don't deny that's been a big challenge. Alex, for me, is one of the best strikers in the world - if not the best. To miss him from your squad leaves a huge gap." "I think morale was certainly affected early on during pre-season," he added. "There was nothing I could do to affect that - it was always going to be there. "When you have a player that good who is not part of your group, it's difficult for the players to fully understand it and to know what's going on and how to react. But, as time has gone on, there has been an acceptance this is the squad and we have got to make the best of the situation. "That's always been my train of thought. Whatever situation you're in, you have got to find a way, and you can only control what you can control. We have moved forward, and I've got to say the atmosphere of the group has been very good in the last couple of weeks." Howe also said he was happy with the squad, but admitted that there was room for improvement. "I'm still hoping for more (signings). I think we need more. We have got some big gaps within the squad still."
