No Indonesian clubs in ASEAN Club Championship 2025; only top two teams in league allowed says AFF
The update was confirmed by PT Liga Indonesia Baru President Director Ferry Paulus in a press conference on Thursday.
Indonesia had hoped to send its 3rd and 4th placed finishers in the league, Persebaya and Malut United, but the request was denied. The official team list released by AFF shows no clubs from Indonesia or Timor-Leste.
The absence of teams from the aforementioned two countries means the tournament will now have 14 participating teams, out of which two will be eliminated after the Playoff stages.

Operation to free ship run aground in St. Lawrence River near Montreal complete
VERCHÈRES — The Canadian Coast Guard says an operation to free a ship that ran aground in the St. Lawrence River this week has been successful. The agency says the Federal Yamaska was successfully refloated on Saturday morning, one day after 3,200 tonnes of sugar was unloaded from the stuck vessel. The coast guard says the 180-metre-long bulk carrier will be towed to Montreal where it will be unloaded fully and inspected. The ship became stuck near Verchères, Que., at around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday, following a complete loss of engines. No one was injured and no pollution was observed. Transport Canada will take over the case once the ship is docked. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 16, 2025. Social media reacts to shocking Big Ten College Football Playoff idea
College Football Playoff expansion has been a talking point since the original four-team playoff debuted in 2014. The playoff just recently expanded from four to 12 teams, but it might not be done there. On Saturday, reports emerged about an idea from the Big Ten concerning expansion. And it's a pretty wild concept. According to reports, the Big Ten is pushing for a 24- to 28-team playoff. Yes, you're reading that right, there are no typos. Twenty-four to 28 teams. The 28-team playoff plan would feature seven automatic bids for the Big Ten and SEC, five automatic bids for the ACC and Big 12, two for Group of Six squads and a pair of at-large bids. The proposed idea generated plenty of feedback from college football fans, and it seems the majority has spoken.
