Miss Thailand Opal Suchata On Bagging Miss World 2025 Title: "So Unreal..."

Thailand's Opal Suchata, who was recently crowned Miss World 2025 at a grand ceremony in Hyderabad, Telangana, shared her feelings after winning the prestigious title.
The 72nd edition of the global beauty pageant was a star-studded affair and marked a historic moment for Thailand, as the country won its first-ever Miss World crown.
Speaking to ANI following her victory, Opal expressed her joy and disbelief over the win. She described the moment as "surreal" and said it was emotional, especially because her country had waited over seven decades for this achievement.
"I was very excited, especially when they were announcing all the girls and their placements, and when I was announced the winner, I still couldn't believe it. I was very confused because it was so unreal, because my people and I've been waiting for the first crown of Miss World for more than 72 years. It is such an honour to be able to bring back home the first crown. The moment I was crowned, all I thought about was the faces of my family, my people, my team and everyone. I cannot wait to really bring this crown back to Thailand...," Opal told ANI.
She also spoke about continuing her advocacy work through the Miss World platform, particularly her focus on breast cancer awareness.
"I would love to continue on my purpose, which is breast cancer. I am glad that being here in Miss World, a lot of people know more about my Beauty with a Purpose project and have more awareness of the cause that I'm setting up for. I believe that with the Miss World title, in the future, I could definitely make more impact and also help other projects that are in need," she said.
Reflecting on the significance of her achievement, she added, "Now, I would like to define Miss World as my success because I just received it, and it's the highest and most honourable success I've ever had in my life. But if I could define another way of success. I would say that to live your life and to create a life that's better for people around you as well. That's also the success of being alive."
While Thailand celebrated the historic win, India's representative, Nandini Gupta, missed out on a spot in the Top 8 finalists.
Nandini had made it to the Top 40 after advancing through early rounds and being one of the 18 contestants fast-tracked into the category. However, she did not progress further as the competition narrowed down to the final contestants.

'We werent best of friends...': Sonali Bendre on working with Salman Khan in Hum Saath-Saath Hain
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): It's not always easy to understand someone at first. Sometimes, it takes time, experiences, and a few unexpected moments to change how we feel. This is exactly what happened with Sonali Bendre and Salman Khan. While they may not have started off as the "best of friends," the actor opened up about how her equation with the superstar changed over the years, especially after her cancer diagnosis. The two worked together in the Sooraj Barjatya's 1999 family drama 'Hum Saath-Saath Hain,' a movie that became one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. But behind the scenes, things weren't always smooth between the two actors. Sonali, during a conversation with ANI, talked about her early experiences with Salman. "I grew to like Salman later. I mean, it was a process. At the time of Hum Saath Saath Hain, I don't think we were... let me put it mildly. We were not best of friends." Sonali recalled how Salman's behaviour on set would sometimes get on her nerves. She described him as a prankster who often "made faces" behind the camera during her close-up shots. "But there are two sides to Salman. You can either love him or you will hate him. And at that point of time, I was not fond of him. When I was doing Hum Saath Saath Hain. I mean, I have had my close-ups that we are doing when he's standing behind the camera and making faces at me. But that was Salman. He's a prankster. He's like a child. But at that point of time, I was most offended that what is this behaviour? And, you know, like, I don't want... I'm not even going to talk to you, this behaviour...," she said. What truly changed her opinion of Salman was his support during her health battle. In 2018, Sonali was diagnosed with stage four metastatic cancer and underwent treatment in New York. During the difficult time, Salman's actions left a lasting impact on her. Sonali said she was touched by the actor's concern and how he stepped up as a senior from the film industry. She revealed that Salman made multiple trips to New York to check on her and also spoke with her husband, filmmaker Goldie Behl, about her treatment and helped with medical advice. "And, you know, suddenly, I mean, for the same person who's making faces behind the camera is the same person who has made two trips maybe to New York where I'm there to see if I'm okay in my illness and for the fact that he would call up and check with my husband, and say, are you sure you've got the right doctors? I think you should get in touch with these doctors also," Bendre said. "Giving, sending the names that, okay, I know you've got her here, but maybe you should talk to these people also. Just being so invested in wanting to know that, is he doing it correctly? You know, where he felt like jo ye hum industry ke log hai this is a fraternity. And he suddenly turned into something like an elder person in the fraternity who was saying, are you sure you've touched all the bases? You've checked all the boxes, you've ticked them all," she added. "And then once he was convinced that we had done what is the best option at this point, he was calm about it. But to do that just showed how sensitive and caring he is," Bendre further said. After a long battle with cancer, Sonali became cancer-free in 2021 and has since used her platform to support other cancer survivors and spread awareness. (ANI)

The rumours linking her to MNS president Raj Thackeray were sparked after an old video of the two went viral, which sparked a wave of unconfirmed claims about Raj Thackeray allegedly having a crush on her years ago. Responding to the speculation of Raj Thackeray having a crush on her, Sonali Bendre said in a news agency ANI interview, "Did he... I doubt it," and dismissed the claims by clarifying, "I was talking to my sister who was right there." "I don't know. I mean, a lot of people... I think it's just not in very good taste when people talk about it like that. First of all, I mean, there are families involved and people involved in all of that," ANI quoted as saying Sonali Bendre, who criticised the gossip. Sonali Bendre added that the association between the two families goes back decades. "Other than the fact that my brother-in-law and my sister... my brother-in-law who's a cricketer and hence used to play cricket with Raj's [Thackeray] cousin... Sister's husband and they always played together. Secondly, my sister's mother-in-law was the head of the department of who taught us English literature in the [Ramnarain] Ruia College, which I'm from," Sonali Bendre said. Sonali Bendre added that for her the connection was the mother of Raj Thackeray's wife, Sharmila, was best friends with her maternal aunt. "...So they all knew each other. For me, the connection was that Sharmila, Raj's wife, her mother, and my maasi [maternal aunt] were best friends. Her mother has held me for 10 days because you know how, oh, her, my mother's younger sister, Maasi. So when she delivered Raj, they all came laughing. Oh, her elder sister's baby. Let's go and see the baby. They've come to the hospital and seen me…," Sonali Bendre said. "So literally, that's the kind of connection," Bendre added. Additionally, the 'Sarfarosh' actress said, "I've always travelled around... It's not something that I know them beyond a point because I came into Maharashtra only once in two years during summer holidays or something like that," she added. When asked about her interest in politics, 'Diljale' actress firmly denied any political ambitions. "No, not really. I think you need a lot of very thick skin for it, which I don't have... and I'm not politically correct... unfortunately," she said.
