Kate Middleton Wears Her Royal Wedding Earrings to First Garden Party After Cancer Treatment
Kate Middleton wore her royal wedding earrings during her triumphant return to the garden party circuit on May 20
Princess Kate did not attend any garden parties in 2024 after reducing her duties to focus on her health while receiving treatment for cancer
The Princess of Wales said in September 2024 that she completed chemotherapy and announced in January that she is in remissionKate Middleton sparkled in a sentimental accessory during her royal return to the garden party circuit after undergoing treatment for cancer last year.
On May 20, the Princess of Wales, 43, stepped out with Prince William to help host a garden party at Buckingham Palace, where she brought the sunshine by wearing a yellow Emilia Wickstead dress with a matching Philip Treacy hat.
It was Princess Kate's first garden party since May 2023 as she reduced her royal duties last year to focus on her health while receiving cancer treatment, and she sported one of the most meaningful pieces of jewelry in her collection: the earrings from her royal wedding.
The Princess of Wales shimmered in the diamond Robinson Pelham earrings she wore for her walk down the aisle to marry Prince William in April 2011 and drew attention to them by pulling her hair back in a chignon.
The Robinson Pelham earrings were a custom gift from her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and feature oak leaves with a pear-cut diamond drop and suspended diamond acorn at the center. Oak leaves and acorns were incorporated into the glittering earrings to reflect the same symbols within the coat of arms granted to the Middleton family shortly before William and Kate's wedding.
The earrings were also designed to complement the Cartier Halo Tiara which Kate borrowed from Queen Elizabeth for her bridal style.
Princess Kate has worn the Robinson Pelham earrings just a few times following her 2011 wedding, including to the Order of the Garter Service in 2016 and on Easter in 2019.
Reaching for them again for her garden party return was a poignant choice that doubled as a romantic nod, as the Prince and Princess of Wales recently celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on April 29.
The Princess of Wales appeared to be in her element at the palace garden party on May 20, where she and William were joined by Prince Edward, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Prince Richard, the Duke of Gloucester, Birgitte, the Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall. The British royals have held garden parties since the 1860s as a way to thank outstanding community members and meet people from all walks of life, and Princess Kate seemed to be in good spirits as she mingled with guests on the palace lawn.
Kate was outside of the limelight for most of 2024 after sharing that March that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She said in September that she completed chemotherapy and announced in January that she is in remission, resuming royal work in full force since.
Prince William and Princess Kate spent time one-on-one with the family of Liz Hatton at the garden party, connecting with the loved ones of the late teen photographer.

Hatton died in November 2024 at age 17 after navigating desmoplastic small round cell tumor, a rare and aggressive form of cancer. She became acquainted with Kate through the "photography bucket list" project she embarked on and met the princess after being invited to photograph one of Prince William's investiture ceremonies at Windsor Castle.

'General Hospital' actor Jack Wagner has no plans to move in with his newlywed wife
Soap opera star Jack Wagner, 65, may be a newlywed, but don't expect him to play house. In an interview with Parade published on Wednesday, Wagner shared that he has no plans to move in with his wife, singer-songwriter Michelle Wolf, whom he married last month. "It's kind of cool, you know? She has her place. I still have mine," Wagner told Parade. "We're both super comfortable in our places and going back and forth, and so we've decided, let's not rock the boat and sell this and sell that and try to find something." The actor, known for his roles in "General Hospital" and "Melrose Place," added that marriage hasn't changed their daily routines much. He and his wife are still "kind of living the life we lived when we dated," he said. "We take a couple nights off, and then we trade off who's going to be where because I think we both know that the older we are, it's nice to have a little space. Not too much, but it's okay! It works," Wagner said. Wagner was previously married to his "General Hospital" costar Kristina Wagner from 1993 to 2006. They have two sons, one of whom died in 2022 of a drug overdose. He was engaged to his "Melrose Place" costar Heather Locklear in 2011, but the two called off the wedding. A study published in March of over 15,000 British people between 60 and 85 years old found that older couples living apart experienced more mental health benefits than single people. Logan Ury, a dating coach and director of relationship science at Hinge, previously told Business Insider that living apart is more appealing to older couples because they tend to have a "stronger sense of self." "They're less flexible and they have their ways of doing things," Ury said. While younger couples are like startups that grow together, older couples are more like mergers. "Mergers are notoriously hard because each one has their own HR department, their own CEO," she said. "It can be hard to blend those things." Having a bit of space can be key to a healthy relationship. Some couples choose to have a " sleep divorce" instead of living apart. Sleep divorce is when couples decide to sleep in separate beds, or even separate rooms. In June 2022, television host Carson Daly said that not sharing a bed with his wife was the "best thing" for his marriage. In July 2024, Bette Midler said that sleeping in a separate bedroom from her husband is the secret to her long-lasting marriage. A representative for Wagner did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by BI outside regular hours.

‘War of the Worlds': A New Twist on an Old Classic
CHICAGO—British writer H.G. Wells's (1866–1946) tale of an alien invasion in his novel 'War of the Worlds' has been a best seller since its publication in 1898. The science fiction thriller is still so popular that it has been adapted into films: one in 1953 and the 2005 Stephen Spielberg flick that starred Tom Cruise. But the most memorable and most well-known version of the futuristic story is that of the 1938 Orson Welles's radio program. Welles made the audio production sound like a newscast as he narrated a minute-by-minute account of an outer space attack on American streets. People who heard the broadcast believed that they were listening to real news and panicked.
