Should the Raiders consider revisiting the Trey Hendrickson possibility?
If the Raiders want to form the best pass-rushing duo in the NFL, the opportunity still lingers. The Cincinnati Bengals and elite EDGE Trey Hendrickson remain in a contract-related standoff. Though they once appeared to be making progress, the latest update indicates the Bengals are willing to listen to trade offers. We know the Raiders are aggressive.
Hendrickson has qualified for four consecutive Pro Bowls. Hendrickson wants a new contract with more money. The Raiders currently rank fifth in the league in cap space with roughly $34.8 million in financial flexibility, per OverTheCap.
One of the bigger concerns throughout the Raiders' roster this season is the lack of talent at cornerback and across the secondary. A great pass rush helps the coverage by quickly applying pressure on the quarterback. Crosby is an elite pass rusher, but the rest of the Raiders' defensive line is questionable. Acquiring Hendrickson would elevate Pete Carroll's defense.

The Raiders EDGE Rusher Situation: Snowden vs. Carter
Maxx Crosby is a superstar, and to absolutely no surprise he's going to be a starter for the Raiders this season. The Raiders are going to likely be rotating between Tyree Wilson and Malcolm Koonce opposite of Crosby as Koonce works back from a torn ACL, which often takes north of a season. Meanwhile, Wilson seems to have finally taken his step into the 7th overall pick with multiple splash plays during the first two weeks of preseason. Wilson looks stronger, has a quicker first step, and it seems as if the NFL is starting to come natural to him. Outside of Crosby, Wilson, and Koonce the Raiders are going to likely be forced into a tough decision between Charles Snowden and Andre Carter II for their fourth and final EDGE rusher position. Rookie Tonka Hemingway has been working roughly at EDGE during training camp and in the preseason, which likely eliminates the Raiders from carrying 5 true EDGE rushers and opt for four with a hybrid DT/EDGE in Hemingway. Charles Snowden likely has the inside leg after appearing in 405 snaps for the Raiders in 2024 posing 16 pressures, 39 tackles, 3 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and 7 QB Hits with 4 pass breakups as well. In addition, Snowden added 16 stops and a 4% win rate, which ranked last among all Raiders EDGE rushers and 2nd lowest on the DL. This preseason Snowden has posted 3 pressures, 5 stops, 6 tackles, PBU, and 2 TFL with an 11% win rate in 59 snaps. Snowden has a massive frame at 6'7/250 and compliments that with a quick first step and increased knowledge of pass rush moves. Snowden originally played ILB at Virginia, before transitioning to EDGE in 2022 after going undrafted in 2021. Snowden does have a connection with GM John Spytek, having spent the 2023 season with the Buccaneers as a practice squad player, in addition to the obvious connections with DC Patrick Graham and DL coach Rob Leonard. On the other side, Carter II was once a top draft prospect, even seeing some mocks predict him to go in the first round. A poor pre draft process and testing caused him to fall to become an undrafted free agent, where he signed with the Vikings. After a couple seasons with the Vikings, the Raiders signed Carter towards the end of the 2024 season where he saw time then being promoted to the active roster and in 16 snaps posted 2 pressures, a stop, and a QB Hit. This preseason, Carter has been impactful with 2 pressures, a sack, 3 QB Hits, 2 TFL, 2 stops, and an elite 21% win rate in 44 snaps. Carter also has a strong frame at 6'6/260. He's primarily a run focused defensive end but does show some traits in the pass rush department. Carter possess a long wingspan, strong lower half and core which allows him to anchor against the run but his pass rush moves haven't been as quality as they were in his time at college. The Raiders have other options at EDGE with UDFA's Jahfari Harvey and Jah Joyner both posting relatively adequate preseasons (Harvey has posted a 20% win rate and 2 pressures in 12 pass rush snaps). On the interior there's a couple UDFA's that also stand out, mainly former Baylor standout Treven Ma'ae who's posted a sack, 3 pressures, and as 12% win rate in 27 pass rush snaps which has put him in line to push for a bottom of the roster spot but Ma'ae is likely just on the outside looking in. When it boils down the Raiders EDGE room situation, Snowden and Carter are both going to be tough cuts with Carter having a strong preseason and finally starting to look like the prospect he was projected to be during his senior season at Army. Meanwhile, Snowden is starting to look like a natural depth rotational EDGE player in the Raiders system under Rob Leonard. At the current moment, it seems that Snowden has the small edge between the two, and has made a rough impact in special teams as well which is crucial for a depth player. Andre Carter will likely clear waivers for the Raiders and could revert to the practice squad, with Snowden likely ending up being claimed on the waiver wire post cuts.

Meet Alabama football 2025 captains: Who will lead Crimson Tide?
Alabama football has named its captains for the 2025 season. Ahead of the Crimson Tide's season opener against Florida State on Aug. 30, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer announced his four permanent captains for the 2025 season through the university's Name, Image and Likeness collective: linebacker Deontae Lawson, center Parker Brailsford, defensive tackle Tim Keenan III and quarterback Ty Simpson. Each of the four captains continue in the tradition of leaving permanent hand and cleat prints in concrete by Denny Chimes on the University of Alabama campus. Here's what you need to know about each Alabama captain: LB Deontae Lawson The only returning captain from Alabama's 2024 team, Lawson was widely viewed as an NFL Draft prospect last season before an ACL injury against Oklahoma ended the linebacker's season. Lawson, a Mobile native, elected to return for his fifth season with the Crimson Tide after earning third-team All-SEC honors in 2024 with career highs in tackles (76) and tackles-for-loss (7) 'During my recovery process, it just made me think about a lot of things. Just really reflect on how blessed I am just to wake up and be able to do this,' Lawson said. 'When I come here, I just try to be the same guy every day. I just try to have high energy, just impact my teammates and try to inspire as best as I can. That's really all I am thinking about. I'm just trying to be the best teammate I can be.' DL Tim Keenan III A fifth-year senior out of Birmingham, Keenan has become the face of Alabama's defensive line. Keenan is preparing for his third season as a starter defensive tackle for the Crimson Tide after recording career highs in tackles (40), tackles-for-loss (8) and sacks (2.5) in 2024. 'TK, you know, once he gets on, and you know when he's off just by his voice and how he brings himself about,' Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton said. 'If I'm being honest, he's one of the voices of the whole defense, as a unit. When we see TK hype, the whole defense (is) going to get hype. Not just the D-line.' QB Ty Simpson After three seasons backing up Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe, Simpson, a Tennessee native, was named Alabama's starting quarterback ahead of the 2025 opener against Florida State. Simpson, who has 50 career pass attempts and three career rushing touchdowns, has been a part of the Crimson Tide's leadership council since before spring ball began. 'I think Ty, Ty really stayed down,' Lawson said. 'That just means so much to us, as a team, just to know a guy like that, that just cares so much about this place, about his teammates, it just makes you feel good. Ty was already my guy, to be honest with you. Man, just seeing him come to work every day, he's getting way more comfortable with his leadership and just being able to manage the team and win over the team. It's just a pleasure to see, just knowing he just waited his turn. I just love to see that. He's so resilient and I can't wait to see him shine." OL Parker Brailsford Brailsford followed DeBoer to Alabama after playing for him at Washington. And he immediately became a force in the middle of the Crimson Tide offensive line. Brailsford played 777 snaps in 2024, recording 63 knockdown blocks and allowing just a half of a sack. He was named a second-team All-American. "I think he's one of the guys on this team that gets it," Alabama offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb said. "He knows the preparation and the type of demeanor he has to have every day. Super consistent, and everybody on the team knows they can count on Parker. Demeanor, mindset, practice habits, physicality, he's ready to go every day." We hit 17 in our Raiders countdown to kickoff. Who wore it best and who's wearing it now
We've reached 17 days until the Raiders season opener at Foxboro against the Patriots, With our countdown at 17 days we take a look at who currently dons the number in Silver & Black and who has brought it the most distinction. No. 17 Who's wearing it now: WR Collin Johnson As the Raiders search for their new starting X receiver, this 6-5, 220-pound veteran is hoping to be in the mix. Thus far, it's been rookie Dont'e Thornton who has been pegged for that role, but Johnson keeps plugging away, including doing solid work on special teams, in the hope of finding his way onto this roster on onto the field. Who wore it best: WR Davante Adams The last great X receiver the Raiders fielded and the man they are currently trying to replace. Adams had been acquired by the Raiders back in 2022 in exchange for a first and second round pick. He then signed a five-year deal that read more like a three-year deal. He had a monster, All Pro season in his first year and a pretty decent second season as well despite the Raiders' myriad of QB problems that season. After which, it was clear he wanted out. He did his best to tamp down the rumors of his desire to be traded, but it was obvious. And three games into last season, he was officially done. He wanted to run back to Aaron Rodgers, who was in New York at the time, and so the Raiders got what they could for him (third round pick) and sent him on his way. This marriage was never going to last more than three years, so with the team going nowhere, getting something in return was a really good deal. Adams finished his Raiders career with 2869 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns in 37 starts. His reunion with Rodgers didn't go so well. His time in New York lasted just the rest of that season with the Jets winning just three of the 11 games in which he appeared. Now the 32-year-old is back in Cali hoping to get his career back on track and maybe compete for a ring with the LA Rams.
