Singapore man pleads guilty to extorting teen after ‘sugar daddy' agreement goes wrong
Channel News Asia (CNA) reported that Marc Justine Landrio Chandramohan pleaded guilty today to seven charges.
These include communicating for the purpose of obtaining commercial sex, extortion, and abetting the distribution of obscene images.
Nine additional charges will be considered during sentencing next month.
Court documents state Chandramohan met the 16-year-old victim on Instagram in 2021 and proposed a financial arrangement in exchange for sexual favours.
The victim initially agreed but later tried to end the arrangement and blocked contact.
Despite this, Chandramohan continued to contact the victim, demanding repayment of money and threatening legal action.
Under this pressure, the victim complied with some of his demands.
Deputy Public Prosecutors Adelle Tai and Melissa Heng described Chandramohan's behaviour as exploitative.
'His exploitation of the first victim is particularly egregious, as he mined her for both money and sexual gratification. He concocted a story about taking legal action against the first victim and tapped on her fear of being embroiled in legal troubles,' they reportedly said.
Investigations also revealed that Chandramohan recorded videos of two other women during sexual acts without their consent. These were recovered from his phone during police inquiries.
Chandramohan was additionally involved in a separate offence concerning unauthorised transfers of funds through a bank account he controlled.
He will be sentenced on June 2.
The identities of all victims are protected under court order.

'This is not the time for people to politicise this issue — an act that may jeopardise the prevailing harmony. 'Allow time for the authorities to investigate transparently until a decision is made. 'If there is indeed an injustice involved, we will see to it that a fairer and more transparent action be taken. 'Right now, let this matter take its course since investigations are underway,' he said. The Attorney General's Chambers (AGC), on August 8, announced that the girl's body would be exhumed to allow post-mortem to be conducted, stating that further investigations by the police were necessary to ensure that all aspects of the case would be thoroughly examined. — The Borneo Post

Probe paper on Zara Qairina's death to be referred to AGC tomorrow
Zara Qairina Mahathir was found unconscious on July 16 after she allegedly fell from the third floor of her school's hostel in Sabah. (Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : Federal police will refer its investigation paper into the death of Form 1 student Zara Qairina Mahathir to the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) tomorrow. Bukit Aman criminal investigation department (CID) director M Kumar said the cops will obtain the advice and direction of the AGC following the ongoing investigation by a special task force. Kumar said 195 witnesses have given their statements, including students, teachers, medical officers, security guards, dorm wardens, Zara's parents and other material witnesses. Zara was found unconscious at 4am on July 16 after allegedly falling from the third floor of her school's hostel in Papar, Sabah. She died at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital the following day. Her mother, Noraidah Lamat, filed a police report on Aug 3 stating that she recalled seeing bruises on parts of her daughter's back during the Islamic funeral washing ritual. Last weekend, the cops exhumed Zara's body to allow for a post-mortem amid allegations of bullying. On Wednesday, the AGC ordered for an inquest to be held into Zara's death to determine whether there were criminal elements involved. The inquest will be held by a coroner's court and will come up for mention in the Kota Kinabalu magistrates' court tomorrow.
