I don't know about you, but I was ready to draw the curtain on this season's footballing action after the Champions League final but the semi-final clashes in the Nations League in the week have whetted the appetite once again.
Just over the week after PSG destroyed Inter Milan to claim their first European Cup, the Allianz Arena will play host to the final of this fledgling international competition, which always seems to threaten to become a big deal.
Perhaps tonight's game between Spain and Portugal can really cement its legacy. La Roja are looking to claim their third major trophy in as many years after winning the 2023 edition of this tournament and the 2024 European Championship.
Luis de la Fuente's side are the overwhelming favourites to prevail against their Iberian neighbours who have not managed to beat them since 2010. This Spain team look incapable of suffering defeat against any team in the world right now.
That, of course, is in large part down to their boy wonder Lamine Yamal, who might actually leap to the front of the Ballon d'Or contenders with a starring role tonight - more of my thoughts on that later on.
While the Spanish side is notable for their youth, Portugal are the golden oldies, led by their most golden and oldest oldie, Cristiano Ronaldo, who refuses to shift even an inch from centre stage. I have the feeling that Yamal might barge him off the stump altogether.
The intriguing clash gets underway at 8pm but before that we'll be hear with all the updates, team news, manager quotes and fun bits we see in Munich.

A football fan has died after falling from the second tier of a stand during the Nations League final between Portugal and Spain. Portugal lifted their second Nations League trophy on Sunday night after beating neighbours Spain on penalties in a thrilling final at Munich's Allianz Arena. Paramedics and stewards were seen rushing to attend to a fan deep into extra-time after they fell from the second tier of the main stand onto the seating area below. Cristiano Ronaldo confirms transfer future amid rumours ex-Man United star could leave Al-Nassr for a Club World Cup side
Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly put paid to rumours he was set to quit Saudi Arabia after another season without silverware in the wake of his Nations League win over Spain. The Portuguese icon picked up his third trophy with the national team, and second in the Nations League, when his side beat Spain in Sunday's showpiece finale after a penalty shootout. Spain had taken an early lead but were immediately pegged back, only to make it 2-1 on the stroke of half-time. Despite having far less possession, competing far fewer passes and having hardly troubled the Spanish goal, Portugal found the equaliser through Ronaldo, naturally, on 61 minutes with his 138th national team goal. The game then went to penalties, and despite their talisman being off the field, Portugal came out 5-3 victors. After the comeback win, Ronaldo admitted that bringing home silverware for his country was 'always special', before making clear his plans for his immediate future, amid reports he could be looking to depart the Saudi Pro League. 'The tears were of joy. When you win something for Portugal, it's always special, but there's nothing like winning for the national team, in my opinion,' the 40-year-old said. 'This generation deserved it and we were going to have a bit of luck and merit and we were going to win the final. 'We knew it was going to be difficult but we deserved it and this gives us confidence and allows us to go to the World Cup with more confidence. 'Future? It won't change anything. Al-Nassr, yes.' His emphatic statement comes after speculation arose a move could be on the cards in order to play in the Club World Cup, fanned, bizarrely, by FIFA president Gianni Infantino. Infantino told YouTuber iShowSpeed last month that talks were ongoing about Ronaldo featuring in the newly-expanded competition. Ronaldo, though, also had his own role to play in the rumours. He had appeared to signal that his time at Al-Nassr could be coming to an end when he put out a cryptic social media post following their final game of the season. The X post read: 'This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.' He was subsequently linked with a shock switch to Al-Nassr's Saudi Pro League rivals, Al-Hilal, who will be playing in the Club World Cup. However, this move has not materialised and it is understood that Ronaldo is currently considering a £167m-a-year contract offer to remain at Al-Nassr. He joined the Saudi outfit in December 2022 after leaving Manchester United the previous month following a public fall-out with Erik ten Hag.

The 40-year-old was able to start the clash against Spain, scoring his side's second goal against La Roja. The final, held in Munich's Allianz Arena ended up 2-2 after 90 minutes, with Portugal beating their bitter rivals 5-3 in a penalty shootout. It is Portugal's first competitive win over their neighbours since Euro 2004. And it means that they won the Nations League for the second time, having also lifted the trophy in 2019. Ronaldo was not on the pitch for the shootout though, having been replaced by Goncalo Ramos with two minutes remaining. But the skipper has insisted he is the right man for the job. 'This generation deserved a lot, especially the coach. What they did to him wasn't fair. They beat him up a lot and he doesn't deserve it. He's the right coach to be in the national team," Ronaldo added. "The passion he brings to training and matches is huge. Even though he's not Portuguese, I appreciate him even more. We should respect him a little more and let him work calmly. After winning a competition like this, in Germany , against Germany and Spain , we have to give credit to the players and the coaching staff."
