'I made £300,000 from side hustles in under three years - what worked'

A business owner has shared how she earned six figures from her side hustles in the space of a few years Side hustles are more popular than ever on TikTok, where countless videos are shared daily on the topic. From success stories to lessons learned, there's a wealth of posts for entrepreneurial social media users. One business owner who regularly posts about her career claims she's earned six figures from her side hustles in just a few years. ‌ Posting as @ startabusinesswithme, Helena, a blogger who often posts business and lifestyle content, told followers: "I've made £300,000 from side hustles in the last two and a half years." As she explained in her video, she trialled several money-making ideas during that time, but she didn't stick with all of them. ‌ Helena said: "I've made £300,000 from side hustles in the last two and a half years, and around half of that I made whilst I was on maternity leave." The business owner explained she didn't want to invest money in her side hustles at first. "I sold things I already had in my house on eBay and a little bit on Vinted, and that financed my initial ability to invest in some other small projects," she explained. ‌ Helena continued: "I tried out print on demand. I lost a lot of money doing that as a project, and I actually never put it out into the open because the samples that I got delivered just weren't good quality. I was trying to sell kids' artwork and things for children and children's bedrooms and doing print on demand and personalisation, and it just wasn't good." The blogger was also interested in "faceless content" as another possible income stream. "I tried out faceless content and faceless YouTube. If I'm honest that was an absolute uphill battle and struggle: it didn't make any money at all," she shared. "I think if you're going to be in the kind of faceless space, you need to be doing something really unique with a really clearly defined niche." ‌ "I was actually in the travel space, and I grew a pretty decent-sized account, and I did some initial monetisation. If I'm honest, I just couldn't keep up with it because I had a newborn at the time and I found it too overwhelming," she added. Moving onto her more successful projects, Helena said: "My most successful side hustles have been selling digital products. I sold my own version of financial models and spreadsheets. For a very long time, they were my most successful alongside my Notion Planner, which I still sell to this day. I also had an AI and automation starter kit, and I sold those via Stand Store, which is a social selling platform. "A lot of my traffic for those came from TikTok so I have to say that was one of the best things that I did was grow a platform and an audience and continue to deliver value where I managed to acquire customers, but I have to say a lot of the sales for my AI and automation content in particular used to and still to this day comes from SEO, actually comes from Google search." She added: "I've also made money from doing UGC content, so where you make content for other brands to post on their social channels, and I have done a very small handful of paid ads on my platform and to my community via my email as well." Summing up her video, Helena said she credits the diversity of her projects for her success. She said: "I honestly think one of the keys to my success has been having diversity of income streams from day one and having multiple ways of making money because if one area was slightly quieter in one month, then another area would pick that up."

‘Incredible' fast food chain from Australia to open 100 new UK stores

It's been called 'the best Mexican on the market' – and now this Aussie-born favourite is planning to take over the UK. The popular fast food chain Zambrero, known for its customisable burritos and burrito bowls, is set to open 100 new UK restaurants by 2030. The Mexican-inspired chain first launched in London in 2021 and has since expanded to 13 locations, including Manchester, Birmingham, Essex and Reading. But it's not stopping there. Zambrero has confirmed more UK sites are on the way next year, including its very first Scottish location. 'We've had a lot of interest in the brand during the last couple of years – and now is the right time for us to expand through our franchise partners and work towards opening 100 restaurants by 2030,' Emily Teh, CEO of Zambrero UK, said. So, what's on the Zambrero menu? Customers can build their own burritos and bowls, nachos and quesadillas from a range of fillings, including pulled pork, chicken, cauliflower and spicy black rice, with salsa, cheese, sour cream and guacamole to top it off. Prices start from around £10 for a small burrito or burrito bowl, with larger sizes coming in closer to around £13. It'll also cost you extra for chips and guac, and churros. Zambrero is probably best known for its burritos and burrito bowls, and some customers have called them the best around. One reviewer raved on TikTok about the Manchester location, calling it 'incredible' and claiming it had 'the best burrito in town'. Founded in Canberra, Australia, in 2005, Zambrero has become the largest Mexican restaurant chain in both Australia and Ireland. With more than 300 global sites, it's now aiming to expand into the UK lunch scene. Social media is filled with praise, and TripAdvisor reviews are equally glowing. 'An absolute must go. I have 3 / 5 of my lunches there. Best Mexican on the market,' one customer wrote. Another called it 'the perfect work lunch spot', and if the expansion goes to plan, you might be seeing one open near your office sooner than you think. It's not the only popular fast food chain expanding in the UK. One burger joint from the Netherlands is also planning to open 100 new UK sites. More Trending Fat Phill's, which is said to be home to Amsterdam's 'best burger', quietly launched in Clapham Junction in London at the end of 2024, serving up smash burgers, American-style sandwiches, loaded fries and mac and cheese. The chain, also known as Fat Phill's Diner, is still relatively new, having only been founded in 2019 by Armin Vahabian, but it's already got 18 locations across the Netherlands. It's been brought over here by Freshly Baked Ltd, the franchisor behind pretzel joint Auntie Anne's UK, and as part of this deal, there are plans to open several more sites on London high streets in the near future and develop up to 100 sites nationwide over the next 10 years. View More » Multiple sites also look set to roll out across Ireland by 2030. Zambrero has 13 different stores across five UK locations. These include: London: Cannon Street, Eastcheap, Kentish Town, Battersea, Crouch End, Twickenham Essex: Chelmsford and Loughton Reading: Queen Victoria Street Birmingham: Bull Ring and Colmore Row Manchester Cross Street and Manchester Picadilly Do you have a story to share? I earn £10k a month doing a job no one wants – I only have to work half the year & get to travel the world

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A WOMAN has revealed how she rakes in £10,000 a month - despite only working six months of the year. TikTok creator Ashlea shares every step of her glamorous lifestyle online - including her day job as a dump truck driver. 3 Ashlea from Perth says she makes £10k a month as a dump truck driver Credit: Instagram 3 She works FIFO (fly-in fly-out) roles, which allow her to work flexible shifts and enjoy extended time off Credit: Tiktok 3 Ashlea boasts over 81,000 followers on TikTok Credit: Tiktok The 26-year-old truck driver from Perth, Western Australia, has recently shared snaps from trips to Bali, Finland, Saudi Arabia and Colombia. She also shared a video revealing that after six years of hard work - and driving a car she didn't like - she's finally bought her dream car. In 2023, she detailed her income in a TikTok video and has since become a vocal advocate for women in mining and FIFO (fly-in fly-out) roles. Ashlea said: "When I first started as a greenie [new truck driver], for my first three months I was paid $36.50 (£19.40) an hour. "And we do 12-hour days and I work on a two and two roster, so that's 14 days on and then I get 14 days off, so I pretty much work six months of the year." Just three months into her new job, she said her hourly pay jumped up to $43.50 (£23.10) an hour. She added: "So quite a nice jump. And for my first year as a greenie, that would have taken me to approximately $94-$95,000 (£49-£50,000) annually for the six months. "So, pretty cool for a new truckie." Her latest rate is about $51.50 (£27.30) an hour - and she gets a $2,000 (£1,060) bonus each month she stays with her contracting company. Ashlea said: "So that could be anywhere between $6,000 (£3,180) and $10,000 (£5,300). I quit my £43K job in the UK to be a grape-picker in Italy and have ZERO regrets - I don't get paid but I'm so happy "Annually, my $51.50 would be approximately $112,000 (£59,420). With my bonuses, that could be another $10,000, so $122,000 (£64,730) for my first year. "And then when I'm employed directly with the company itself, every full year you're employed through the mine site direct, they pay you a bonus also which I think is approximately $3,000 (£1,590) each year. "And then if the company itself does well I think they actually pay you a bit of a profit share just as a thanks, which I love." The TikToker explained in the comments section of her video that her employer covers the cost of everything - including accommodation, food and flights. She added that she only works 22 weeks a year, which is less than half the year once her four weeks of annual leave are factored in. Ashlea isn't the only woman who's turned her life around. In June 2021, Kelly Moore, a 44-year-old mum from Maidstone, walked away from a career in care and took a leap into something completely new. Once stuck in her overdraft and counting every penny, the mum-of-one has since left the nine-to-five grind behind - and now runs one of Maidstone's fastest-growing eco-cleaning businesses. Her company, Cleaning With Meaning, which uses handmade, refillable and environmentally friendly products, brings in £15,000 a month.
