Saying goodbye to Weather Will
Will Aiello at the Stratford Festival.
CTV News Kitchener is saying goodbye to weather specialist Will Aiello as he prepares to embark on a new journey with CTV Morning Live.
Will said he is moving back to his hometown to be closer to family and take on his 'dream job.' However, the decision was not an easy one to make.
'Leaving the CTV Kitchener team will be very difficult but their support with the new opportunity has made it feel much better,' he shared. 'Thank you to everyone for allowing me to be myself and spread so much energy and positivity into this wonderful community.'
To celebrate our time with Will, we are sharing some of our favourite moments with 'Weather Will.'
He hosted Oktoberfest activities, got his hands dirty in weekly Get Growing segments, and made our tastebuds tingle with Get Grilling.
Here are some memories we will cherish, long after Will has changed his alarms to his new 1 a.m. wakeup call.

Block party takes over Chinatown for second year in a row
Dragon dancers are seen at the Van (B)loc part in Edmonton's Chinatown on June 7, 2025. (Galen McDougall / CTV News Edmonton) For the second year in a row, a block party is taking over Edmonton's Chinatown this weekend. Organizers are hoping to continue the momentum of the inaugural Van (B)loc Party last year with performers, vendors, food trucks and a broadcast of the Edmonton Oilers game. The event is one product of the community receiving nearly $1 million for revitalization and vibrancy projects over the past two years. This year, 14 projects will be funded by the Chinatown Vibrancy Fund, including Van (B)loc, the annual Togather Chinatown Arts Festival, and Lunar New Year celebration. 'I truly believe that in any community, if you have high quality products and services to offer the community, then you attract great skills and talent back into it as well. So the Van (B)loc Party is just another way to increase and enhance that ability to bring great people back into this area,' said Wilson Wong, party organizer and owner of Chinatown restaurant Van Loc. The vibrancy fund initially allocated $480,000 as a one-year commitment in 2024. Then, city council extended the program by two years. Chinatown will receive another $480,000 in 2026. Ward O-day'min Coun. Anne Stevenson told CTV News Edmonton it was exciting to see the money's impact take root. 'The city can put out grants, we can invest in infrastructure, but truly it's the businesses, community members and volunteers to make these things happen. So(I'm) grateful to the organizers who have put this together,' she said on Saturday. 'There's a wonderful quotation from Gabor Mate that says, 'Safety isn't just the absence of threat, it's the presence of connection.' So as a community, we have made great strides in terms of reducing threats, reducing crime, but the next piece is really building that sense of connection. Events like this absolutely do that and we will continue to thrive from here.' The event runs until 11 p.m. on Saturday and 5 p.m. Sunday. With files from CTV News Edmonton's Galen McDougall

Ottawa families out enjoying warm weekend despite smoke advisories
Smoke didn't stop families from enjoying a day in the nation's capital with tons of outdoor activities for the family to take part in this weekend. People filled the streets for the Ottawa Italian Festival to watch a car parade and enjoy the warm weather. 'We wanted to come out and see the Ferrari's and take advantage of the nice weather,' said Lindsey Gibeau, attending the Italian Festival with her family. 'The boys love cars. We're super excited to be down here.' Joelle Gagne and Vic Gauvreau also taking in the sounds and music of the festival. 'The heat is here. The day is beautiful. The sun is shining. It's a great day to come on down,' said Joelle Gagne. Gagne says she usually is sensitive when it comes to the air quality, but felt comfortable. The annual Firefighters Day also returned and many children had their opportunity to sit in a big red firetruck. The event shared important safety messages on what to do if a fire occurs at home and obstacles for the whole family to enjoy. 'The air quality is always something that we monitor. For today, we monitored it very closely,' said Marc Lalonde, Sector Chief with the Ottawa Fire Services. 'We have a stash of N95 masks for anybody that's affected by the poor air quality.' Some people checked the air quality health index before heading out for the day. 'We watched the air quality this morning. My wife prepared us and said it's a five or six - we can go. We prepared the kids so we put the mask on and here we are. It's a beautiful day,' said Cristian Tunsu. Others say they wanted to support their local firefighters for keeping them safe, so getting outside didn't bother them. A special air quality statement remains in effect as as fires continue to ravage the Prairies. High levels of air pollution due to smoke are expected to continue into Sunday morning.
