RIT Dubai hosted graduation of NOMU Al Ghurair Women in AI program
Organized by ZAKA Co-founder and Head of Partnerships, Larissa Abi Nakhle, the ceremony welcomed RIT Dubai President Dr. Yousef Al Assaf and Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation CEO Dr. Sonia Ben Jaafar. In her opening remarks, Dr. Ben Jaafar highlighted the Foundation's dedication to upskilling Emirati women and supporting their entry into the AI job market, empowering them to become leaders in the region's digital future.
Addressing the graduates, Dr. Ben Jaafar said, 'You have stepped into a male-dominated field, and you did this boldly and fearlessly. You are the spark of a movement; a signal that the UAE's innovation economy will not be built by machines alone, it will be built by women like you. You are not just changing your future, you're shifting a global statistic.'
Welcoming guests on behalf of RIT Dubai, Dr. Al Assaf provided an overview of the six centers that will be launching as the campus development continues, and invited the graduates to explore opportunities for collaboration with the university. Speaking about the importance of retaining human values in the advancement of technology, Dr. Al Assaf remarked, 'Smart machines are not replacing jobs, they are creating jobs, but we must remember that AI speaks to our emotions but does not have emotions; we need to make sure that the human element is integrated into the codes we develop in order to help people to lead a better life.'
The event proceeded with the award of certificates to the cohort of students representing the UAE and other Arab nations. The graduation marked the culmination of a highly selective and challenging program that combined technology with job-readiness skills to prepare candidates for the future of work. The program was set in the context of anticipated expansion in the Middle East AI sector, with an expected annual growth rate ranging from 20 to 34 per cent, projecting a potential impact of $320 billion by 2030.
As part of the program, students undertook an intensive 12-week curriculum, involving topics including data science, statistical modelling, neural networking and machine learning. The curriculum concluded with an eight-week capstone project, during which participants worked on a real-life assignment proposed by a partnering company, applying the skills they had learned during the course. This phase includes weekly mentorship sessions to guide participants through the project.
Among the program's graduates was Reem Al Neyad, an alumna of Zayed University with a major in information technology, networking, and security. Reflecting on her experience, she said, 'I have always been interested in artificial intelligence; my senior project was a medical dispenser powered by AI. I wanted to build on my experience with Python and machine learning through this program, and it has enhanced my skills in this area. I can now apply this experience in the real world, and I am grateful for the opportunity provided by AGF and ZAKA.'
During the ceremony, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Aishah Al Yammahi, Strategic Advisor at Alef Education. The event concluded with presentations of some of the AI projects developed during the program, including BookBuddy AI, a bilingual support tool enabling children to develop a deeper understanding of language.

'This record-breaking performance reflects ADNOC L&S's continued outperformance of market expectations, driven by robust cash flows, strategic partnerships, and operational excellence. 'In line with this momentum, our upgraded full-year guidance demonstrates our confidence in delivering long-term value to shareholders.' It has increased the revenue guidance to 'High 20 per cents YoY growth' from its previous 'Mid to high 20 per cents YoY growth'. EBITDA guidance has been increased to 'Mid 20 per cents YoY growth' from 'High teens YoY growth'. Group net income guidance has bee upgraded to 'Low to mid double-digit YoY growth' from 'Low double-digit YoY growth'. ADNOC L&S also said it remains confident in its medium-term outlook (2026–2029), supported by long-term growth prospects, strategic expansion, and resilient income streams. Amid increased market volatility, ADNOC L&S said it was intensifying its focus on value-efficiency initiatives, leveraging portfolio diversification, and maintaining the strength of long-term contracted revenues with high-quality counterparties. Growth Investments remain on track, with capital expenditure guidance unchanged. The company added that it retains the financial capacity to fund an additional US$3 billion beyond announced projects within 2.5x net debt/EBITDA by 2030. ADNOC L&S continued to reinforce its long-term earnings potential through strategic fleet expansion against long-term contracts. Following the delivery of its second LNG carrier in Q2 2025, the company is set to receive its first Very Large Ethane Carrier (VLEC) and the third of six LNG carriers in Q3 2025. Together with additional new-build orders, these vessels are projected to strengthen future earnings base, with over US$26 billion of future income already contracted. Revenues rose 22 per cent YoY to US$1,293 million, reflecting strong demand and strategic growth in key areas. EBITDA rose by 27 per cent YoY to US$420 million, highlighting the segment's significant contribution to the company's overall results. The company's shipping segment revenues surged 89 per cent YoY to US$981 million, because of the consolidation of revenue from the Navig8 tanker fleet. Shipping EBITDA increased by 25 per cent YoY to US$290 million, despite substantially weaker market conditions than H1 2024.

Promising Companies Market regulatory framework to boost Oman's capital market and funding access
Ahmed bin Ali Al Maamari, Executive Vice President of the Financial Services Authority (FSA), affirmed that the issuance of the Promising Companies Market regulation advances the incentive programme to develop the capital market in the Sultanate of Oman. The programme, endorsed by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may Allah protect and preserve him, aligns with Oman Vision 2040 goals to enhance economic diversification and the investment environment. In an official statement, he highlighted that the regulation provides a flexible framework enabling private, family-owned, emerging, and small and medium enterprises to access alternative financing tools in a transparent, adaptable investment environment. This, he noted, helps create diverse funding opportunities in the local market to meet companies' growth and expansion needs. He explained that the incentive programme includes three main tracks, one of which is establishing the Promising Companies Market as a sub-market within the Muscat Stock Exchange. Its alignment with the regulation, he added, offers more flexible financing options and supports companies in achieving higher levels of institutional maturity and sustainable growth. The regulation, he said, sets out clear listing mechanisms and simplified initial requirements, such as achieving specified annual growth rates, meeting a minimum number of shareholders, and paying fixed, published fees. These measures reduce market entry barriers and improve corporate transformation efficiency. The Executive Vice President invited all eligible private sector companies to explore the financing and listing options offered by the Promising Companies Market. Haitham bin Salem Al Salmi, CEO of Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), said the creation of the Promising Companies Market represents a key structural development in Oman's capital market system. It will provide a specialised financing channel for emerging, small and medium enterprises, as well as family-owned and private companies, under phased regulatory requirements that enable a smooth transition to the main market. Al Salmi added that the MSX, as the market operator, will offer a fully integrated trading environment supported by advanced technology, flexible disclosure models tailored to growth-stage companies, and governance standards aligned with their nature, which he said would strengthen qualified investor confidence and stimulate market liquidity. He affirmed that the initiative aligns with MSX's strategy to broaden the investor base and diversify investment tools and products, enabling companies to access capital efficiently while enhancing corporate maturity, thereby boosting the competitiveness of the national economy, supporting Oman Vision 2040 goals for private sector development and attracting quality investments. © Muscat Media Group Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc.
